Why do parents who neglect their children willingly or not decide that the child needs to seek them out not the other way around?! My father did the same thing to me. It’s emotional abuse tbh. It’s like them blaming you rather than themselves helps them cope with what they’ve done. It’s cruelty on top of the trauma of being neglected.

I'm not making excuses for her drug use or her absence, but I think y'all are just looking for an excuse to attack Simone's mother because y'all feel like she shouldn't be trying to contact her after all this time. Which may be true. Even I feel like Simone should approach this situation with caution, but she's a grown woman, I believe she can make her own decisions. After their history, I feel like it's only right to tell Simone hey, I love you and I do want to see you, but it's up to you. She's not trying to make her daughter "chase" her. She's literally saying "I know I was a bad mom in the past but I'm trying to change. It's YOUR choice if you want to be involved with me or not and I can't take that choice away from you and if you say no I understand."

As the adoptive mother of 2 kids from the foster care system, Simone's mom can kick rocks!! These bio moms always want to show up when its time to release the balloons and celebrate accomplishments but don't want to be there for the struggles that got them there.
I have 2 kids (brother and sister), not related to me, who came to me in June of 2011. I was supposed to keep them for the summer because DFCS was hoping to place them. Long story short.....no one wanted the boy because he looked HORRIBLE on paper & DFCS was about to split them up to get them adopted. I was so angry at the system... my husband said just keep them. They were 3 and 5. My son is now 18 and just received a ton of scholarships to go to college. He's gifted and graduated with honors. Guess who came to the graduation? Yep....bio mom!! & then had the nerve to ask if she could go with us to take him to college. Im gonna stop right here because I could really go into it.
BTW. .My daughter is also an honor student. She's a junior in high school and will have nursing credits under her belt when she graduates. Im 57 and raising teenagers 😂😂😂. My bio children are 38 and 34. Both sons & have been great examples for these kids.

Yea, that part rubbed me the wrong way too Acting like Simone has been fed lies or something by the parents that raised her. When the one truth that matters cannot be disputed; the fact that she was a crackhead that treated her kids poorly, hence why they were ultimately not raised by her. I am a mother of 8 and never been an addict and never had to give up my children. It had to be an extremely hard decision no matter what others may think. I will only say I will not judge a person whose shoes I have not walked in. Nobody wakes up and just decides they want to be an addict. Do we know before we speak what caused the mom to turn to drugs. People are quick to judge before they know the whole story. I will pray that the Lord fixes this family and help them through forgiveness. Amen

Simone was there and the fact that her mother still works at the Save Way when she's in a position to assist financially says alot. It also speaks volumes that she was not invited to her wedding. That tells me there's more to this story on both sides.

Why did this woman choose this time in her daughter’s life to still her shine by bringing up this traumatizing issue! She the gift that keeps on giving! And when they say they chose to let the children go many times that’s not accurate because when they’re actively using, they want the state funds for the children to keep coming.The children are generally taken due to neglect by the state and the parent who can’t get it together, eventually lose their parental rights!

However, while she’s doing these interviews, how about state that you are looking for help dealing with the trauma she has put on her family. Im sure she’s getting some sort of help considering she’s been clean for over a decade. These same professionals can guide her into the direction of getting the help she needs. I’m sure she has a story as to why she got addicted to drugs but that doesn’t dismiss other people (her family) got hurt in the process, so she needs to push a little harder to try to make it right.

I had to learn to be mindful of how I judge people. If I haven't lived it or understand it, then it's not my place to pass judgement. I don't know her parents story with addiction, but her mom seems to be in a much better place than before. She deserves grace. I'm sure she feels bad for not being there for her kids. I totally understand her saying she's waiting for Simone to call her when she's ready. She may have been trying to reconcile through the dad and maybe Simone is not there yet to forgive her and rebuild that relationship. At the end of the day, there is a blessing in the midst of it all. God is going to do what needs to be done.

People forget that forgiveness doesn’t equate to access to me. I’ve forgiven so many people without even telling them. Forgiveness is not about appeasing the person giving it. It’s literally about letting that angst out of your heart. I have more respect for the father for staying out of it.
