In 2022/23 Erik Ten Hag led United to 23 win, 2 Cup finals, United's first Trophy in 5 years , a third place finish and the Champions League, all in his first year. This with the headache of Cristiano Ronaldo's meltdown, Jadon Sancho's "Mental Health" issues and the usual injuries to his starting CB Varane and Martinez. With the latter missing the last 11 games of the season
Then , for reasons only he knows, Ten Hag decided to try and make the team play the way he wants instead of playing to his players strengths. Ten Hag decided to be Pep instead of Carlo.Ten Hag's first summer signing was Mason Mount. A sure sign he wanted to go in a different direction of playing style for the team. A playing style that was doomed...because he didn't and doesn't have the players to do so. Pep has his ways and goes and gets players that suit him. Carlo takes the players he gets and puts them and the team in the best situation to succeed.
Ten Hag misjudged his team, which is amazing considering he had a full year with them and had success with the way they were going. He need to enhance not change. United are a counter team with this group of players. It worked for Ten Hag's first year. But he wanted to be a transitional team this year and ..............it blew up. Look at it this way, Ten Hag added pieces and got rid of some pieces. It would appear his additions were inadequate and his dismissals were needed.
Ten Hag will do well at United under the new structure. So far, he’s been doing the job of 5 people hence why he stuck with who he knew with transfers. Give him next season and two proper transfer windows of good organisation

He’s already spent $500 million on 16 players, you think more transfer windows will help him??? Without a doubt this has been the worst season since post SAF. Terrible performances week after week. @@MrGts92 Zero control? Ten Hag has definetly had influnece on most of the signings. Antony, Eriksen, Malacia, Martinez, Onana, Weghourst, Mount. All of those players are either former players he managed or dutch/eredevise connected. We have been very one demensional in our recrutiment under him.

Personally wouldn’t blame ETH walking away at the end of the season. At this point I don’t see beyond the salary what’s in it for Ten Hag sticking with this group of players, the noise around Ineos, the media, the glazers etc

There’s an agenda against Antony at this club even after scoring in a game which seems to be the only valued currency. Garnacho and Hojlund shouldn’t even be at this club yet underperform and get no criticism. This fanbase has a trend of throwing better players under the bus for players who place us 6th in the table.

He’s been backed better and has had a larger say in terms of transfers than any other manager! Both Arnold and Fletcher said they learned from mistakes of not backing Ole and were going to back this manager better and have!! Arnold used Antony as an example of how the club went beyond its valuation solely to back the manager!! Something they failed to do under Ole!!
Backed him? He's literally the most powerful manager we've had in recent times who has been backed in every big fall out from god himself like Ronaldo to £350k & £75m Sancho & more.
Repeating the same thing and expecting a different result, is the definition of insanity!

Erik, please, go to Ajax for your own sake. United is a career-killing club for managers and players. This club is destroying your reputation. Give up on the project and go somewhere people FULLY trust you. It will be easier to build your project there. Then, lead Ajax into the Champions League and knock United out in the future.

Online/overseas fans don't seem to understand academy products. They all wanted to get rid of Elanga and Pereira too. While they're not 1st choice quality, they were good enough as squad players. Between them they have the same number of assists as our entire squad this season. They cost nothing and we're on low wages.
Instead we blew £160m on Antony and sancho for the bargain price of £500k+ per week.

Honestly think this is the best case scenario for everyone. The Eredivisie is his level. He can go back and be a success and get Ajax back to the top of the Eredivisie and he can pretend that he is a good manager again. Meanwhile we can get in a premier league level manager who can try and fix the mess he has made trying to turn United into an Eredivisie winning level team.

@ianmcdonald3053 Yeah, that's one huge problem for ManUTD this season. I still think ETH must stay the next season because we can't keep changing managers if one season goes really bad. ETH is a good manager and I appreciate him for what he did with Ajax, so I believe with good management with INEOS, good transfer window (selling the players that want to leave or not putting the effort and some strong less expensive singing) ManUTD would do fine.
Stick with ETH. First manager to get us a trophy and top 3 in the SAME SEASON. This is 100% on the players. Has every coach at United entered their second year and said "let see how fast i could get sacked?" Its not a coincidence. Its the players. And sure, Antony is a ETH signing, but it's United's poor backroom staff that paid 70 million instead of the 30 million at the start of the summer transfer window.
