Hrm I feel like pulling the collar down to shift the weight to the opposite leg is not as efficient as just using your shoulder in their opposite hip to push their weight to the other leg as you lift. But I’d need to practice both to really feel the difference. I was having a ton of trouble “lifting” singles until I switched my focus from lifting upwards on the leg I was grabbing to driving into their other leg. By driving them with your shoulder, the near side leg becomes light.
Thank you 🙏🏾, That was an amazing breakdown. I will not pause again. But I totally agree training takedowns someone your size. As you become better, it also works on bigger opponents. But I agree with you this dude is a world class fighter, but it shows you what dedication, commitment, grit, and grind get you. It's so beautiful to see a smaller guy using jujitsu on a bigger guy! Whats understood doesn't have to be explained. But that you brother for all your amazing content. You should go roll with the jungle brothers ,They mentioned you on there podcasts,in Australia that would be some funny shit if yall did the podcast together after 😉, just something to chew on, OSS 🙏🏾
He just went for a single leg spun him around to get him off balanced then drove and switched it to a double. Basic wrestling takedown. He never grabbed the gi. The guy had really bad takedown defense so it was easy for Mighty Mouse
Is your wedding ring silicon? Degloving injuries are no joke! A snagged wedding ring can cause severe injuries. (not really a critisism on Chewie, but more a shoutout to the married white belts out there).
This and the lapel drag are my 100%ers, they work every time for me. Even if I don’t get the takedown, I’m still in a great position to pass immediately.
Great 👍🏼 explanation - thank you 🙏 - I like to trip the other leg out on a single if running the pipe doesn’t work - is that a good option or doesn’t work against higher level competition?
Chewy: "...most of you guys are training 3, 4 days a week."
Me: [looking sadly at my once-a-week membership, trying not to cry]
I was listening, honestly .. but got mesmerised by the quality of your gi!
is this Adam?
Rob Pyfer from Atos Lake Tahoe teaches this! Taught us when he visited the gym I go to.

Love your videos buddy
Are you using a filter because Brandon's eyes looked trippy in this video.
Dude it’s weirding me out

He is blind, that’s how his eyes look. Tripped me out when I first met him. He has discoloring of the eyelashes and skin around his eyes.
@@colley_bjj4119 the guy does bjj blind- thats amazing.
@@SailingTheSeasPirateRob yes. He was just promoted to purple actually.

Yep. Silicone. At worst it falls off. Which then I replace the ring on my finger and say “the power is mine” ala Captain Planet 90s cartoons 😂
I love this takedown, my go to

Great Breakdown.
There is nothing better for me to watch high level competitors using basic techniques to perfection.
Can y'all do the flying armbar
How do you escape the back position🤔?
Amazing 🙏🏻
OJ just died. Can you show the knee slice?
*I like that Chewy addressed taking heat in the comments.
So its basically a single leg modified for the Gi?
Yes.
Yep. There’s a lot of grip fighting not covered but that’s the idea homie.
@@Chewjitsu Long live the single leg takedown!
Josh Hinger does this all the time.
I was drilling this the other day.
Best take down in a gi is a classic o Soto gari
You bring in an intoxicated, homeless guy for this one?
