I’ve never felt such genuine rage while reading something as I have reading chapter 170. The build up along with the scene is framed was brilliant. I felt a pit in my stomach I heard him say that he needed Denji’s unhappiness and told them to bring the next one. The way he draws and genius way he frames a scene is put on display as you scan from right to left, seeing everyone’s disgusted reactions before landing on Nayuta’s head. Even at Makima’s worst she was too consistently engaging in every scene she was in for me to feel genuine anger towards her. But Barem. Fucking BAREM. I had to run downstairs and punch my punching bag for 15 minutes, pacing back and forth while contemplating how much of a genius Fujimoto is and how much I fucking hate Barem. I finally understand how AM from “I Have No Mouth But I Must Scream” must have felt like. Pure fucking hatred. God Fujimoto is good.
I was stoned when reading that chapter, and once Bareem started talking about him needing Denji to be unhappy, my anxiety started to kick in, as I already started to put together where all of that was going. When I reached the reveal, I had to pause and start walking around, because I started to have a panic attack, and all I could think to do was repeatedly say "Thats Fucked" while chuckling to try and calm myself down. As a manga newbie, Chainsaw Man has definitely raised the bar for me when it comes to blindsiding the audience with soul crushing twists.
I was just so fucking close to launch my pc straight to the wall while reading , the amount of hate I still have for barem after that is insurmountable.
Btw since Denji already had Nayuta in his stomach (the sushi Barem fed him throughout the chapter) when he became Black Chainsawman Nayuta probably got erased. Part of this may have been Barem trying to free himself of the control devil’s influence he stated was still on him. Also Fujimoto just revealed his Vol 18 cover and it’s Nayuta at sunset with a peace sign she’s definitely dead.
She only got partially erased at best. Iirc Yoru's body was partially eaten by Black CSM, as well as many of her weapons, rendering her defenseless and making people no longer fear war anymore...Nevertheless, Yoru still survived, so the Control Devil would still reincarnate in Hell even if she's significantly weaker than even Nayuta...

6:20 Part 2 takes place around March, wich means its been like half a year since we know the Gun Devil arc took place in September. Denji barely got a few months of rest (while hes fighting as Chainsaw Man on a daily basis and his power is literally shredding himself and then shredding even harder when revving up)
That's such a good point, I'm surprised I haven't heard anyone else bring it up. But ya I agree, Berum basically is a Fujimoto self insert, especially at the sushi restaurant. They're both literally serving denji up with the most horrible things they can think of, just to progress the plot/carry out their master plan 😅

I've recently got in csm after years of people hyping it up for it's action and how based it is and while yes indeed I was hooked it was all for the wrong reason, denji's trauma really fly off the radar for most of the fan base i feel like
