I am proud to be an Armenian, a Christian and a member of the Armenian Apostolic church. It saddens me to no end when I see fellow Armenians abandon their church, this church to go to that of NEO-Protestant churches led by some "born again". Why do they feel the need to be reborn, and turn their back on their heritage for personal gains. You should not expect to go to church and treated exceptionally than others, it's not about only you. Without this church? We have no identity as a people.

As a Roman Catholic, I agree with you. We have the same problem with our congregation leaving to join some "born-again" cult. Often it's because they've never understood the Faith to begin with.

Because lots of our priests nowadays are jerks. They are doing everything for money... In catholic or protestant churches they wouldn't give you the prices of their services... That's what my family and friends always experienced in our churches in and out of Armenia. What a shame. I hope that you know that our katholikos is a criminal. He is the big issue in our church.

SuryoyoSpirit The Santa Ana one is the Forty Martyrs Church. It refers to the 40 Martyrs of Sebastia but isn't called that. The one in Encino is the Holy Martyrs not All Martyrs.

I am not Armenian, what are the processional round brass orbs with bells on them that the acolytes or priests shake back and forth symbolize? A beautiful liturgy.

+Steven Giovangelo I believe you are referring to the liturgical fan that we call kshots also known as the flabellum. As an accompaniment to certain chants of the Liturgy, an altar server grasps the pole with one hand and shakes it so the bells jingle in rhythm. In the early church, it was used by deacons to protect the altar and Eucharistic gifts from dust and flies. They have also become associated with the wings of the angels. In the book of Isaiah, the prophet saw a vision of God surrounded by Seraphim. Images of these angels are often engraved on the face of the fan. The oscillation of the kshots reminds us that during the Divine Liturgy, we stand in the presence of almighty God.

The Catholicos of the Mother See of Ejmiatsin is the Supreme Catholicos-Patriarch of All Armenians, the Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia recognizes the supremacy of the Catholicos at Ejmiatsin. The Patriarchs at Jerusalem and Constantinople are below both Catholicoi, as the Catholicoi title is higher than that of a patriarch according to the Armenian tradition.

Only few Armenians knows about the history of Armenian church, it’s keeping of God’s 10 commandments and the 7th day Sabbath in the past. Only few people knows about the apostasy of Armenian Apostolical church. It’s a daughter church today to the Roman Catholic church. But why and since when?
