There’s a key piece of dialog when the head of Zion is talking to Neo about Zion..he marveled at the irony that humans were fighting machines yet depended on machines for survival while living in Zion .

this is actually in line with the underlying ideals about the movie itself, there is something about the entire film which doesn't sit well - why would the machines leave the sky dark? "oh, symbiosis, honest!"

@@vovin8132 the young man runs the spoon to neo before he leaves for the matrix, while agent Smith, in human form is talking to neo. The young man has a wrapped gift for neo from one of the "orphans" . It is a spoon, and the young man tells neo, "he said you'd know what it means. "
@@jordanhefley7365 Right, but is the spoon bent or not? If it is, then that strongly suggests that Zion is a simulation. However, to get even more meta: I always viewed Neo as having powers in the machine world as being something that neither other people or machines understood. And that is because it is suggesting that we already live in a simulation (the whole "who made who" deal, ie., who made the humans before machines were around).

The original concept for the Matrix was everything was in the Matrix and no one could really escape but the studio felt it was too confusing but by ordering the change it made everything more confusing than leaving it alone as the Matrix was really just a prison for the remaining humans after the war not a power source as they were told. Basically the machines could not bring themselves to kill off their creators completely so they created the matrix to contain them safely. That was why the Ones powers worked in Zion was because it was still in the prison of the Matrix.
If humanity has every reason to think that a cataclysmic disaster of the scale of a gamma ray burst, for example, is only 20 years away, what then? Would you prefer spending that final 20 years in the cruel dark reality that becomes in those final 20 years, or would you prefer instead to experience a near infinite number of life/death cycles in a simulation during those 20 years? That's the key, I think -- the simulation clock. We can't assume that 1 minute of simulation time requires 1 minute of real time in the real world to compute. Yes, even the simulation will eventually end when the real world that it operates in is destroyed in those 20 years. But how will that be experienced by those in the simulation -- just instant oblivion? How would it be experienced by those who chose to not enter into the simulation but preferred to suffer in the 'real world' during those final 20 years instead?

Perhaps Spoon boy is one of the controlling agents from the paradise matrix, and with the hell matrix is how he got the spoon too Neo in the 'real world' in which Neo needs to remember that there is no spoon.
Basically telling neo that he is still jacked in.
From the moment at the end of Revolutions when Neo could stop the machines in "the real world" with his mind, I've always thought that meant that Zion was a simulation and the Matrix was the simulation within the simulation--so that like Inception, if someone ever woke from the Matrix they'd have a false sense of escape, of reality, and wouldn't fight to "wake up" from the top level of the "dream". I know that Neo is neuro-electronically plugged in and that's why he can stop the machines with his thoughts but it always struck me as a red herring to keep us from guessing the obvious.

Actually there may be multiple layers of the Matrix, and the red pills merely shift from one to the other. Matrix 4 is where Neo learns that fact... that both are actually simulations.

@salelltd Question - What is that outer world ? If mashines world is a simulation - and also Zion - because they are physically in the same reality - than what is the world our of it ? Or maybe their is no real world , there are only principals , archetypes which are than animated by people and mashines (mashines are simply provocators for people)

I always thought that Zion was another level of the Matrix. How else could Neo stop the sentinels in the real world. And why didn't Neo stop the sentinels when they attacked Zion in the same way?
They do explain how he manipulates sentinels in revolutions. He can tamper with their programming because of his connection to the source (the source of all code in the matrix and machine city)

I always thought that the real world was still the matrix. I think there are multiple versions of "The One" playing at the same time on different matrix servers.
What if everyone hooked up to the actual matrix is playing as "The One." Like playing a singleplayer game.
Servers upon servers upon servers just like two mirror at each other and goes forever.

this theory ignores the Merovingian, the first operating system of the matrix, and his gang of monsters, vampires, werewolves and ghosts that was left overs from the nightmare matrix. Merovingian even called Seraph a traitor and a prodigal son which hints that angels exists in matrix which is maybe from the first version of the matrix.

Zion Control's hightech enviroment has never been explained. There is no chance that the ugliness of Zion is controlled by the a pure white technology. In the scene when Zion Control is opening the gate for Nebuchadnezzar I thought this is not real. Only the name "Zion Control"...

Admittedly a weird sweaty rave that looks like it was set in Brazil is the worst kind of nightmarish existence I can think of, so I fully agree with this theory.
Again, the Nightmare matrix wasn’t some sort of Silent Hill hell dimension, the nightmare matrix was like the current matrix but with monsters zombies supernatural vampires etc... it wasn’t hell..
Kind of like the Constantine movie which, imo, also fits the theory that some people have that every movie that Keanu Reeves has been in is representing a version of The Matrix...

That has always been a theory of mine as well. Zion and the "Real World" never added up to me. Even when I first saw the film in my youth. I always wondered the same. Why is the real world so barren and cruel?, then I became aware of the nightmare matrix, and it all added up.
I've been questioning my own existence.... What is even the point of it all what is even the point of the first place.
Even Smith says things like love peace and freedom are just illusions.
I don't even know if I'm a human or an npc.
I hate living in overcrowded cities with millions of people people are saying the suburban life is dying too.
It's just goes so deep it's even hard to understand it all.
I sometimes wish I was never born because I don't want to come back after this life.
Actually there are many layers of the Matrix.
The real world in the movie is just another layer of Matrix connected with the main fake world Matrix layer via the Trainman's Matrix tunnel.
Question: The Architect said quote; "The function of the One is NOW to return to the source, allowing a temporary dissemination of the code you carry, reinserting the prime program." When he said "now" was he referring to Neo that he needed to do this at that moment or can we assume that The Ones before Neo may have had different purposes? Maybe the 1st anomaly had a different purpose, or the 3rd.
And maybe he’s learning about human manipulation from the Oracle by trying to invalidate Neo’s desire to abandon humanity and help Trinity. Maybe he knew Neo would want to do the opposite of what he said. Reverse psychology.
I question there only being 5 prior matrix constructs because there were 5 prior anomalies (like Neo). I propose there were at least 2, possibly more, additional matrix constructs. The architect says his first construct was "paradise" and that "people", not the anomaly, rejected it. Additionally, the Oracle interjected choice at some point--which version of the matrix did this happen? As the architect took time to "evolve" his designs, so much have the Oracle "evolved" to discover choice. Additionally, is the architect we know even the first architect?
What was it that Neo said at the end of Reloaded? 'It's just another level of control..."

Another point the architect says that I haven’t seen anything on yet is that all the former anomalies all know the truth and went on to create the next version of Zion. They were probably the leader of that group and it probably took 200 years for the next anomaly to appear. Why did the old anomaly never write or tell anyone the truth about what he was and how everything played out.
He may have written but it was destroyed.
Does paper even exist in Zion?
Only exceptions I can see is the fact that persephone mentioned werewolves, even having silver bullets, and the oracle talking about ghosts, of course the twins are included. So I concluded that the nightmare matrix was full of all of these monstrous creatures: vampires, werewolves, zombies, demons, etc. I was even hoping that one of the future productions would be exactly as described, a world filled with every conceivable monstrosity imagined ALL EXISTING SIMULTANEOUSLY!! I think you're right. Also, Neo went back to the source after the final battle with Smith when he was plugged into the prime machine in machine city. His code was used to restart the new version of the matrix that the Oracle wanted. Perhaps we'll see that in the new movie. Great video.

@@TzoHill Given the amount of religious symbolism throughout the films, specifically Christianity, and how the first Matrix was described as a utopia/paradise, I stand by my Garden of Eden theory. However, for the same reasons I have refined the nightmare Matrix to be Hell and not the dark ages/medieval times.

@@TzoHill I think the Architect was a co-project between the victorious machines and the human AI sympathizer survivors of the machine war. That’s why the first Matrix was a paradise/utopia/Garden of Eden, a reward to those who sided with the machines. The human condition of duality, good and bad, could not comprehend and accept 100% happiness/perfection/utopia. The machines then go in the exact opposite direction for the nightmare matrix. “That sounds exactly like the thinking of a machine to me” - Morpheus. This also fails for the same reason of duality. Each Matrix revision fine tunes this duality until it becomes class struggle. The poor and the rich and the illusion of choice, “even on a subconscious level” - The Architect, to effect where an individual resides in a society. Those who wake from the Matrix (green Mega City) to join the human resistance is a fail safe to satiate the illusion of choice but still remain in the Matrix (Zion).

That does sound like a mechanical logic. If you can't deal with a glitch, then you isolate and minimize the damage. Also, explains why Neo still has some of his powers manifest in the real world, since he was instinctively learning to manipulate that layers code.

This makes way more sense than the theory that the real world is just another layer of the Sim. The latter theory would be a nice mindfuck but would drag things out complicate it unnecessarily and take even longer to properly hash out.

Hello Matrix Explained! I was looking thru your video's the other day. I was looking for some info on what happened to Tank at the end of the 1st Matrix movie. I recall in Reloaded, Links better half Zee, mentions how she lost two brothers to Morpheus's ship, Tank and Dozer. I know Dozer is dead but, Tank was alive for the end of the 1st movie. Did he die? if so was it from Cipher's attack or something else? this has been bugging me for quite some time now lol.
Actor wanted too much money, I think the character died of wounds received later (infection?)
Machine learning in search of creating the perfect reality by learning from human behaviour... by being given choice adds to the permutations of logical decision making thus building a better level of intelligence... perfection of AI.
This seems like the most obvious solution for the machines, lead the unsatisfied ones into a path that leads them away from the real solution and just takes them deeper into the illusion.
There was another film similar to matrix and they live, a group of rebels thought they got out of the simulation and were leading an army to liberate others only to find out it was still part of the simulation.

Just rewatched the trilogy, plus animatrix, plus a ton of videos on this channel. Animatrix episode "Matriculation" sticks out in my mind. It was pitched as "The Anti-matrix" but I'm not convinced. It could well be the truest realest thing shown to the audience in the whole series. What if the program they used to convince machines to work with them IS the first matrix. And the matrix we see in the movies is just the newest version. Neo, trin, morph, and all the red and blue pills could just be machines running through a program to try to convince them to work for humans. I guess the real question becomes how do you trust anything you see on screen EVER in the series. When Reloaded first came out, I was convinced that Zion was just another "level" of the matrix, because how else could Neo use his powers there. Your theory about people having built in wifi is interesting, but flawed. If people could jack in wirelessly, I doubt they'd bother shoving a steel spike into their brain. Which would you prefer? A spike in the brain, or a wireless connection to a device you've had in your body as long as you can remember? But then Revolutions came out, and they're like "No, Zion isn't in the Matrix, Neo just has super-powers both in the matrix and the real world." Huge let down. You had this opportunity to give the whole thing a logical scientific answer, and chose to go with super-powers instead? LAME
Draw a line on a sheet of paper no matter how long or how short...you create a beginning, middle and end by default..break it in half same thing..on and on and on
My understanding of Neo in Machine City, is that he's in another layer of the matrix still.
a) He cam see with no eyes and blindfolded
b) If what you're suggesting is true, about the Architecture's former failed Matrixs being used... that means they are definitely in another layer ofbthe The Matrix.

It's just a word. To you, it means an emotional response to an unsuccessful attempt to achieve a desired (again, here) outcome from an action. The etymology of frustrate (Latin frustrari) is originally the prevention of an action by an external agency. An emotional response was associated with that (the result of unfulfilled desire), but its purest form is devoid of emotion.
For example: lions don't make a kill over 90% of the time. Their attempts are frustrated (prey jinks too much, they're too slow, they were seen before they were ready, etc.). Do you think they are pissed off at failure or are you just anthropomorphising the feelings of a big cat not catching an antelope?

How could they have destroyed Zion 5 times without Zion being another layer of the Matrix?
If Zion is reality outside the Matrix they couldn't destroy but the one time.
Not if Zion was rebuilt as they say they can destroy it again
I forgot how much of our real world is nothing but barren desolate ruins of past civilizations of which have never been able to be rebuilt or developed upon, leaving us huddled in caves and run down buildings...
I'm pretty certain the makers of the Matrix have crushed the 'simulation in a simulation' hypothesis into dust though. So....yeah. Besides, it's already been explained that Neo's choice in saving Trinity and leading back to the source, not to mention all of the hardware in his body is the reason why he has powers in the real world. Even then it's not like he's flying around. THEY'RE DIFFERENT POWERS! They're still only able to affect the machines because the Matrix is quite literally infused with the source code in Neo's mind and literally the machinery in his body. That's why he can't dodge bullets in the real world but he can control the machines. Ultimately the point most people miss is that Neo didn't save the Matrix because he chose the path of the one. He saved it because he chose his OWN path. The Path of Neo. NOT the path of the one, since the path of the one ends in a reboot.
Suffice to say. I DESPISE simulation in a simulation hypothesies. They barely made it work in Inception and even they did so by being liberal with the concept of dream time dilation which is a myth.
Here’s a theory. If you wake up from nightmare matrix, you either wake up for real or go to paradise matrix. And whatever version of choice matrix is always the second or third layer. So, nightmare could be the update of paradise or even it’s own layer.
Now is easy to see it but back in the days it was a massive puzzle.
1- Neo stops a flying machine in "the real world" with his hands twice.
2- The Architect explains about six previous versions of the Matrix, but you have less than a few seconds to understand what he meant in one of the two door choices; If Neo takes the other door, is a deal for a truce.
Whenever the Matrix is rebooted, all hardware dies = People connected to it dies. The Matrix reboots a specific timeline (never explained) trying to get rid of Neo, but in the deal, his people get to live. But "somehow" Neo still shows up as a man called Neo no matter how many times or how far its rebooted.
3- The Architect never explains how the first men and women found a rebooted Zion for a rebooted resistance in the past. (best hint the trilogy ever gave) Meaning nowadays Zion has no recollection or evidence or historical findings of its rebooting.
4- When Neo is blinded by Smith after the gruesome shock, inside the "real world" ship, he can still see in red (instead of green)
What I said above screams so blatantly to me its a simulation because;
1- Every-time Neo stopped a flying machine in Zion, he was unplugged from the Matrix. Meaning he is the only character with the control of both worlds. Brilliantly written as if Neo don't understand it yet. In the final scenes he can even see while blind.
2- The Architect don't understand the reason why Neo persists, because he has no humility or naivety to admit Neo is an unexplainable phenomena. Think of it like an AI trying to understand something religious.
3- Zion first colonists of previous versions have no history or recollection of the place's past, because a reboot means a reboot. Just like the Matrix can have walls, buildings etc to be deleted or rebuilt, so its Zion, leaving no trace of any "war".
4- The reason Neo can see while blind folded is because of the real awakening. The reason why walls were brilliantly rendered as transparent blocks with blocky data traveling (instead of green codes from the Matrix) and in the Machine City he can even see big towers as numbers 2 and 4, is because he figured out the real Matrix code is too complex. He can tease it, but can barely brake it without dying.
Why is "war" simulated? Even Smith understands in the first movie, on his words, that humanity only understands reality through misery.
Zion is a sub-file sending rejected folks into a simulation to keep their minds busy with a purpose, while failing to see the real, real world. Not because people could actually escape (the red blocks are nearly unbreakable) but because it caused instability in the simulation. In this movie, evil kinda wins, because people are all still plugged. But Neo proved that if you can't leave it, you can at least be aware of it. If you have to accept your fate, like he did, then this is about enlightenment as a reward, not material reward.
The good thing in that story though, the machines almost had it. The Architect was shitting on his pants, because he knew Neo was partially aware of the real situation. If Neo managed to brake it, he would be done for. That's too sweet.

What if the matrix is a simulation within a simulation and the "real" world is just the next level up from the matrix. Not to compare this to the 13th Floor but there are some parallels between the two. Maybe the hell version referred to as the real world as you say but that world is no more real than any other simulation. That would partially explain why neo could affect the sentinels while in their presence.

Here the biggest agreement with the theory is simply that Neo can still mess with machines outside of the matrix if they're somehow managed to be Bluetooth Link inside of their own bodies then it wouldn't matter if you just connected a single piece you're still surrounded by a connection and information

He just clarified for the billionth time that the real world is not another layer of the matrix simulation but a real world controlled matrix. Basically the Architect using his past idea from the simulation and implementing them into the real world.

imagine as it turns out the machines have actually cleared the darkstorm and restored the world and all life on it. and the humans who sided with the machines are now living along side with them working together, all the humans in the matrix are the descendance of those that opposed the co-existence with the machines and responsible for the attempted genocide, and they continue to be imprisoned
The machines are living inside a matrix that aliens created for them after the machines were defeated in the Machine-Alien war in the Goliath comic. Not my real theory but fun to think about.
The whole idea of Zion being continually recreated suggests there could be other Zion sites in the world. When the architect mentions his first two, he does specify that it's HIS first two, and that always stuck out to me. Doing the math we should try to add up all the time accounted for in each sim, and see if there's a definitive answer on how long the simulations have been going. I estimate roughly 200 years. I don't know much about the comics though so maybe its mentioned there?
@salelltd So... basically Matrix 4 got some splainin to do. Thanks tho for clarifying a few things I must have missed there. One thing im still confused about then, is how they say zion was rebuilt. I always took that as physically destroyed, and rebuilt by the 23. but then its also said differently as if the machines built it, so it makes me wonder if they dont mean it was physically builtin the real world. Im looking forward to matirx 4 to answer some of these big mysteries, cuz I agree now that you said all that, it had to be a whole lot more time that passed.
I have a question about The Oracle: If her introduction of choice created the anomaly, and solving that will inevitably lead to 100%, at least in theory, what incentive does The Oracle have of helping the architect reach that if that leads to her redundancy? When does she eventually go rogue to save herself?
@Rongaryen - Interesting The Oracle's motives. We know she harbors rogue programs such as Sati. We know she manipulates Copper-tops for insight into mammalian "choice(s)." She appears to manipulate even The Architect. Re: Oracle going rogue, why would this save her? I mean perhaps the heavy hitting Programs in the matrix are already "rogue," as in, they escaped deletion and became misfit toys in this construct built by programs built by the machine hivemind. Maybe they're all "Sati(s)."
The Oracle isnt gone rogue. the Architect is efficency, the oracle is Effective. The Architect only Iterates, Optomizes, never breaks the Cycle.
As more and more Programs flee the Control of the Matrix and therefore the Control of the Architect ( and the Oracle ) the leader of those Exiles ( Mero ) gains more and more Power.
Oracle sees the need to Break the cycle of Constant resets or Mero would win 100%.
With the Cycle broken, new options come aviable and the chances can be calculated again and maybe Mero can be defeated.
Oracle hasnt changed sides, she is just not of the same Opinion as the Architect how to go into the Future with the Matrix.
@@TheGouliat You're right and you're wrong. SATI, and her parents, aren't from the Matrix. She is only hiding there to escape deletion. And her deletion was ordered by powers (machine hivemind) much greater than the Architect. So when you contest that the Oracle hasn't gone rogue, you're ignoring that she is complicit in disobeying the machine hivemind and harboring SATI in the Matrix. It's important to remember that the Matrix is a very very very very very very very SMALL part of the Machine World.

If she has to compromise on other things it doesnt matter as Effectivitys only focus is to reach the set Goal. Wasting Ressources, creating Tension, Risking stuff.
The Architect, ontheother Hand, is the Embodyment of Efficency. The Priority to make the most out of the Ressources you have, obsessed with everything working Perfectly together. meaning you can compromise on your set Goal ( i.E. creating diffrent versions of the matrix ) to reach 100% Efficency.
Both act acording to ther Code, therefore, none of them has, "gone rogue" from my understanding. even if that Means that the Oracly may Ignore Orders from the Machine Mind in the Real world.

But the programs don't comprehend love and still need Zion. For without Zion, they can't stage The Great Coppertop Escape sub-routine. So, even if the machines are pulling the Oracle's strings... In her mind, she is programmed to believe she is BREAKING RULES. And thusly, rogue. Even if staged.
