Hey guys Julius (Techstars Alumni 2019), I am just soooo thankful for your videos. This goes out to all alums around the world: Never stop learning. This video showed me again, tech evolves at a speed that one is simply not allowed to drop out of the learning curve for more than a year. Really impressive. Thank you so much for sharing this.

I have a genuine question, not trying to attack a company or y combinator but I noticed most of these companies have little social presence in terms of low posting, low efforts, low subscribers, etc. .. so how do they get a lot of users then? are there other good strategies besides social media?
B2B / enterprise / SMB businesses tend to rely less on social media and more on outbound or inbound marketing, which means the website needs to support a sales team or some drip campaign that gets people to convert. Social media is a factor in inbound marketing but not the only one. Events are often much bigger for such businesses.
Thanks for the video, lots of excellent insights to glean from! Always a wealth of information from all your educational material, looking forward to more!
You seem to have a couple of "design principles" in your mind while evaluating these sites. What are they? Is there an article/video you can refer us to?
If your call to action is to have people to try your product, is it good practice to always have an input box for email in the first part of the website, or also fine to leave it at the end, after the person has scrolled through the website to understand what is actually is?
Input box on homepage generally is unnecessary - and it takes screen real estate and cognitive budget away from what you should be doing: making sure people know wtf your company does. -Garry
For some apps, especially ones for nicher users (for instance reality defender seems to fit this), wouldn't real users who end up on a webpage already know something about what the app does from wherever they heard about the company?
Yes, but the people who show up will come with varying levels of understanding and you cannot assume really anything about the user. The more you assume, the more the lost opportunity. -Garry
Stock photos and videos turn me off to a product. Avoid that! They rarely convey any useful information and don’t make me want to buy the product. It’s just distracting. What do pictures of people have to do with your product?
I don't think this was a great a content. Like one of the hosts said on the video, they are not the target demo for these companies. So they generally commented on the design aspect of the website, and some are valid, but they simply don't get what the companies are going for.
YC really stepping up their content creation game! 🙌🏽

Great video guys!!!❤ thank you
Can someone explain how Y Combinator went from the likes of Paul Graham and Sam Altman to Garry Tan trolling websites for the font size?
