it doesn’t make any sense that one can diagnose a subtype of schizophrenia after 1 month of symptoms using ICD yet DSM requires at least 6 months of symptoms. Am I misunderstanding something?

Psychology or psychologist are not clinical physicians meaning they can give treatment but not allow to prescribe medication...while psychiatrist are clinical physicians that can give treatment and prescribe medications

A psychiatrist is trained in the medical approach (chemistry for the betterment of human life), whereas a psychologist is trained in the psychological/social/cognitive (thought pattern) process. Only Clinical Psychologists and Psychiatrists are usually licensed to diagnose mental illness. This era of healthcare no longer encourages the "which is better" war between psychology and psychiatry; both are equally necessary, and the patients can have better outcomes if both coordinate and work together. Psychiatrists address the acute symptoms, and psychologists help you to make long-term changes in your life.
