  • Traditional VENEZUELAN and Christmas HAM BREAD: This spectacular stuffed bread, typical of Venezuelan cuisine, is made at Christmas and New Year's Eve parties. A bread with a lot of flavor, and like any traditional recipe, it has its variants in each house. In this recipe, we show you our way of doing it, with some very interesting variants.

    INGREDIENTS
    400 gr flour
    160ml water
    5 grs Baking Powder
    1/2 tsp of salt
    1 tbsp sugar
    1 tbsp honey
    3 tablespoons of mustard
    40 grs Butter Ointment
    1 Egg 1 tbsp Vanilla
    350 grams of Cooked Ham
    150 grams of bacon (bacon/bacon)
    100 gr olives
    100 grams of Grape Raisins
    1 Egg (to paint)
    2 tablespoons of Papelón (black sugar)
    1 tbsp Water
    In a bowl, sift the all-purpose flour, add butter, salt, sugar, honey, egg, vanilla and water. We mix everything until we get a smooth and homogeneous mass. We knead for 5 minutes and return to the bowl, to let it rest and make its first leavening, for an hour or until it doubles its volume.
    Once it has risen, we stretched the dough until we obtained a rectangle approximately 45 cm long by 30 cm wide and ½ cm thick.
    We put a layer of mustard, covering ¾ of the surface (as seen in the video)
    On the mustard, we put the ham, on top the bacon (bacon), olives and raisins
    (as seen in the video), we roll up the bread until we reach the sector where we did not put mustard and there we cut the dough into strips of approximately 1 cm and intertwine on the surface of the bread so that it is decorative.
    We cover the bread with plastic already on the source where it will go to the oven and let it rise for 30 or 40 minutes. Paint with a beaten egg and take it to the oven already hot at 350 F / 175 C. We cook it for approximately 40 minutes. We check with a knife that it comes out dry, to make sure it is cooked.
    When taking it out of the oven, still hot, we paint it with a syrup made with paper and water, to give the bread shine.
