FAQ for those who are interested: Yesterday's Enterprise BoP battle: "Number and type of ships, Mr. Crusher." "3 K'Vort Class Battlecrusiers, sir." The B'rell class was a scout ship, the ones seen in this video. Star Trek: Generations battle over Veridian 3: The BoP had the shield frequency of the Enterprise, allowing for the disrupters to pass right through the shields. Plus, the Enterprise only fired one phaser. I do agree that one shotting the BoPs here was a bit much, however, this battle would have only gone that way. 3 scout frigates versus a federation flagship will not end well for the frigates.
The K'vort was a further modernization of the B'rel class. It was larger, more heavily shielded, with more weapons. They were by classification heavy bird of prey, or raptors. They did have the role of scout ships, but they were more heavily armed than frigates
@@admiraljetro8783 Additionally, there were like...6 different sizes of what was clearly the B'Rel. In terms of length, the K'Vort was about the size of a Vorcha class attack cruiser. The B'rel was the second smallest. It is believed that the Bird of Prey taken by kirk in ST3 was even smaller as it had a crew of 12. The K'vort variant had a crew of 650. The in universe reason given for this is that the Klingons are not very fond of making a new design for every situation. If the problem can be sufficiently solved by taking a tiny ship and scaling it up to the size of a dreadnought, then that is what they do since it generally means just scaling up the size of the components that make it up.
If yesterday’s enterprise used 3 vor’cha attack cruisers then it would’ve been a more believable battle in the enterprise destroying one, but defeated by the other two.
@@kingsman8475 Depends on who's writing the script and what they think makes for a good scene vs keeping things in line with what was previously seen. There's plenty of scenes in trek that contradict others, especially where weapons and shields are concerned
Brilliant animation! It would have been nice to see some sort of shield flare from the Birds of Prey as the photons blew them down but that's just a nitpick.
Ever seen the Enterprise D compared to a Bird of Prey? Even Commander Kruge in "The Search for Spock" said that Kirks Constitation Class outnumbered them 10 to 1. It was because of the poor shape the ship was they surrendered. But basically the Enterprise D, or any Galaxy class starship could easily defeat 3 Klingon Bird of Preys. Now you could argue that de D did not win in "Yesterday Enterprise" but lets face fact: First, the timeless was not the same, and second, the Enterprise was very meager with it's attacks on the Bird of Preys. Compare their attacks on the Borg ship and the attack on the Husnock (created by the Dowd) ship. The Enterprise D was capable of firing so much faster than in most cases shown. Hence, this video is a good representation what would really happen.
SpacialKatana It was also a very old BoP. Very outdated. Still, the Galaxy class outclasses the Klingon Bird of Prey by its sheer size alone. Bigger Klingon ships would be a better match against it.
Birds of prey have hurt Enterprise-D before, but only when plot armor weakened it beforehand. A galaxy class at FULL power though? No. The Klingons should've brought a full sized battlecruiser for this job. Birds of prey are badass and highly powered for their size, but we must remember they are technically scout ships.
Lame. Bad battle tactics. Since the Klingons have smaller/less powerful ships, they need to surprise or "back-stab" there opponent from the get-go, plus the Klingons have shields too you know! USE THEM!!!!!!!! It might not have mattered since the Enterprise-D has 100 S.S. and 3 B.O.P. have a total of maybe 60 S.S. combined (In STTRPG: Combat Simulator), I woulda did sum damage to Picard b4 meeting my maker.
agreed, not to mention 1 B.O.P can move in front of another when their shields go down and tank at least a few hits while the other ship gets its shields back up and they just rotate the formation repeatedly and boom no more enterprise.. sure its unlikely as the chaos of battle mistakes happen but at least try
@@kinggoten A Galaxy-class could shoot them to bits while they're playing musical target dummy. All it has to do is pivot, surge ahead, and nail them both with a proximity detonation of a torpedo spread right between them. Phasers will mop up anything left.

they are old small and have very small shield emitters. A single phaser shot from a galaxy class would destroy they

Birds of Prey are heavily armored for their small size. General Chang's BOP took five or six photon torpedoes with no shields before being destroyed.

Wasn't the Enterprise-D wrecked and totally destroyed (one half blown up, one half crashed on a planet) by a Klingon Bird of Prey?
Yes, but it had a lot of plot help - shields were ineffective as their frequency was known to the Klingons by spying using Geordi's visor.
They were shooting through the shields in Generations.
