- Luna came to us after a huge loss, but we are so glad she is ours and we could get her on the right path to a healthy and happy life at the Denman Homestead.

Ashe was meant for you. She came to you for a reason. She was your guardian and protector, and because of her, it brought you Luna. What a great story of Luna. She is beautiful, and because of you guys, she is healthy now. Animals are amazing, and we don't deserve them. They just know to love and purely love us. Kanga looks so much like my beagle, Reagan. Beagles are a hoot. Quirky, naughty and never a dull moment. Hahaha
Sometimes we only have our pups for a season and only Heaven knows the reason why. So was your time with Ashe….it was a season for an unknown reason….and they take a huge piece of our heart when they go. Your Luna is a beautiful girl…I’m so glad you saw value in her sweet face and saved her. She is your precious love and protector❤

Ash was an angel sent for your protection. The showing with the 3 men could have turned out really bad if she had not been there..
Steph, I'm glad Ash followed you. You never know what people are going to do. Please be safe and take precautions to stay that way showing property or houses alone. Lunas breed is a working breed. Maybe she can go with you to showings. Put her at work and put you and Buddy's mind at ease.

I recently rescued a 14month old Mali, have not regretted it for a minute. Though she can still be a bit of a spook sometimes she is a fantastic companion. Her best friend is my competition Border Collie. Thank you for giving those pups a chance 👍🐾🐾

Sorry for your loss of Ash. It's always hard to lose a pet no matter how long it's been. Luna is beautiful and you did save her and are giving her a wonderful life. Can't wait to hear the story of Kanga ❤
I’m a very firm believer that dogs choose their people, just like Ash chose your family. It’s so hard when you lose them. Luna is so fortunate that you were the ones to rescue her. She has a wonderful life with so much love. I wish you all many, many happy years together. ❤️🙏

I know you had to pay for Luna, but you really rescued her.... Belgian malinois are awesome dogs, they are loyal and a very hyperbreed. She is so beautiful, so happy that y'all got her she is awesome.❤❤❤❤❤
Before I retired from the sheriff's office we had these dogs as canines and they were superior not only were they protective of the officers and the rest of us in the building they were smart very intelligent and you would not believe how many times they were a lifesaver I would recommend these dogs to anybody now I'll take that back not just to anybody to those that need protection and a good dog manners temperament command-wise and I would ever hate to see one go to a bad person because they could turn them around worse than a pit bull it's been trained to fight so I think you've done a good choice.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Thank you for sharing Luna's and Ash beautiful stories. I have never had a large dog before I rescued Tommy, a Catahoula Leopard dog. He now weighs 80 pounds. I feel God sent me Tommy because I couldn't stop crying after my husband passed away unexpectedly. This 9 month old puppy is now 4.5 years old. You both have such beautiful hearts. Sorry about your loss of Ash. ❤👩🐕🐾

A German shepherd is a very loyal faithful dog. They guard their family with their life. Very protective.
Ashe may not have been there but a year ,but it doesn't take long for a dog to steal your heart. Luna is a beautiful girl and I'm sure she's grateful you rescued her.

She looks like Stella in the face. Belgian Malamutes are one of the more dangerous breeds as far as dog bites go. I'm glad she fits right in and is not too aggressive. I'm sure she is a great watch dog.

I LOVE big dogs! I'm such a softy I ended up with 10 at one time. People are so cruel to just dump their dogs. We had a 1/2 Siberian Huskey 1/2 German Shepherd. She was the best dog we ever owned. We have a stray my son brought home that we highly suspect is the same 1/2 Husky 1/2 Shepard. We also have a Great Pyrenees that someone dumped, a Collie/Cattle dog mix my niece couldn't take care of, two dogs we actually got from our previous dogs litters. One looks like a golden Retriever, but her Mom was a Shepherd, Red Heeler, Pit Bull. ( she was wonderful but recently died of cancer) The other pup we kept was Pyrenees/ Shepard/huskey mix. And a mutt that the town drunk wasn't taking care of and she adopted us. He found her on an old country road in a cardboard box with a sister and a brother. We lost 4 dogs in a year to stokes, heart attack, and two just died. We have 4 cats. One is 20 years old and belonged to my husbands dad. We inherited her when he passed. Two that were found in a cardboard box in a ditch at the local lake. One of their litter mates didn't make it. It was °108 that day. They were 3 weeks old. We have a kitten from our female rescue that got pregnant the week we were to get her fixed! She had 4 two disappeared on us and one was given to a friend. We can't say no. Animals just find us or someone finds them and brings them to us. I have a hummingbird that makes a nest every year in my door wreath. I even had a ferret come in thru a cat door one time. I was watching TV in the dark and thought it was one of the cats sitting in my lap until I reached down to pet it! Boy was I shocked! God brings you animals and some just sense your spirit.

Those Belgium Malnois are used a lot by the military. They are very intelligent dogs and beautiful. Glad you have her.

We adopted a boxer mix at the beginning of the pandemic and she has been a blessing! She was starved in a crate, rescued, rehabbed, and we found her!

Luna is gorgeous. Absolutely love her eyes. I saw how she was watching Jami, when Jami brought over your bday gift. That was almost scary. I've never really seen Fear or uncertainty in Jami's eyes when it comes to dogs, but I saw it that day, with Luna, until you spoke to her and let her know that Jami was OK. She still watched her though, and wasn't really sure just how close she wanted Jami to get to you. By the end though she was OK with Jami.
I want someone to admire me the way Kanga looks at Buddy! Wow-wee! Love the storyline. My best dog was part Sheppard and part wolf. We got her as a puppy in Chicago and did not know she was part wolf till we moved to Missouri and the vet. Informed us. Best dog for tracking....I swear I walked all over Missouri with her! And if it snowed, she would not come inside. She loved snow. I still miss her. It's been 50 years since she is gone. And she would not let any boy on our property if I was outside.
My part Malinois dog was the most loyal I ever had, and smart, too! I am glad for you, that you found Luna!

Ashe was sent to you for a good reason.
My mom was a dog catcher back in 70s, she came a across a pack of dogs, a Doberman was walking towards her, she gave commands to her and she listened. My mom kept her tried to find her family. She lived us, and protected my mom when some creep followed her home from a bar. Week later she was reunited with her family ❤️. God works in mysterious ways

GSD'S are close to my heart. BUT, if you don't train them and expose them at a very early age, unfortunately, they are known to become very possessive and scared. In turn become what they call, "fear biters and aggressive bc they simply don't know....." Bless yall for loving her, she was gorgeous! 🖤

Wow! This had me tearing up. My nephews have a “Maligator” and given the right training and enrichment they are wonderful dogs! Extremely intelligent and loyal. My Dutch shepherd is in training now for the same issue that Ash had. It is fairly common as they are so protective. She is a rescue and took to us immediately but is not a fan of strangers. She is doing great with her training. I’m hoping we can have a lot more experiences with her after she is finished.

I have been watching a dog rescue channel and belgian malinois are highly alert at all times. They are hard workers and need a lot of work to do. They are highly protective and need special homes, not everyone can handle them. It speaks volumes of you all that she is well behaved. It had to be, that she chose you. Special girl.

I feel your pain. We had 4 German shepherds in 40 years. Our #2 boy was aggressive. We were camping and a older lady bent over him to pet him. He went for her face. Praise God he only got her glasses.

I had a stray dog show up about 3 months ago. I've had others, but none have stayed this long. She's an Ausahoula, a mix of Australian Sheep & Catahoula Leopard, with one blue eye & one green. She's a puppy, but is a big dog. I believe God sent her to me because I was not in a good place & she brings me so much joy & company & I love her so much. I agree that animals can choose their humans, they can also pick up on your moods & sense if you're sick or in danger. My girl, 'Honey', has been a blessing even when I'm picking up trash she's drug from the neighbors. I can't help but love her. Steph & Buddy, thank you for sharing Ash & Luna's stories with us. Thank you for sharing Luns's story. I know the sadness of loving a dog we so deeply love, that touched us in a way we never knew and animal could. Our forever dog was a part of our family for 16 year, it was the hardest time for us, I too cry if I talk about her too much, she was so deep into our heart. We have inherited 3 more dogs and we love them, but they aren't Sue.

Luna is such a sweet girl…so cute! 🥰 There is nothing better than having a great family guard dog! We have a St. Bernard that I had to have help training him. He was overly protective of females…to the point that he made a grown man wet his pants when he kissed his girlfriend on the cheek. Axel bared his teeth and lunged at him forcing him to sit on my couch with the deepest bark. It scared me to death because he’s never done that before and he’s 165lbs. He didn’t bite the guy but he sure did scare him. I immediately reached out to a trainer and she taught me how to teach Axel what a good touch is and what is not. He’s soooo much better now and I have a secret word to say when I need his protection. Luckily we haven’t had to use it!

Stephanie on your birthday when Jami came over, Luna was like ok who are you and what do you want? But she knew that Jami was ok. It was cool to watch. I'm a veterinarian tech so I read dogs and animals very well.
