Cotillion Ballroom Wichita Kansas, folding tables and chairs. Sat on edge of stage close enough to touch Stevie's feet. Small crowd, beer, early in his career. People went silent as we were blown away. Later Eric Clapton heard Stevie and said he just moved from riff to riff without pause or thinking. Eric said he was in disbelief because even he himself had to pause. Eric almost quit playing guitar when he first heard Jimi Hendrix. Eric pulled his car over to listen to Stevie. When I heard on radio Stevie died in helicopter crash on radio I pulled over 90th and Blondo, Omaha, Nebraska and cried.
Yes. Someone I worked with at the time who knew I played guitar asked me if I heard about the crash, some famous guitar player had died, they thought it was Eric Clapton. I thought, wow, tragic, what a loss.... When I got home and heard more news about it, and they said it was Stevie....I wept, almost collapsed. I have admired many different guitar players of many styles for many different reasons, but nobody else like Stevie Ray. My eyes tear up typing this...really...still....
YOU JUST WITNESSED THE GREATEST MUSICAL PERFORMANCE IN THE HISTORY OF MUSIC! PERIOD! SRV IS THE ONLY HUMAN BEING TO MAKE A GUITAR SMOKE A CIGARETTE AFTER HE FINISH PLAYIN IT
Thanks for this! If you appreciate "the blues"... there was nobody better! RIP SRV.. there was no-one like him.. so glad you reacted... there are more great videos.. only you must just watch the LIVE ones.. don't even bother with any recordings!
👏🙌🎸🎶💙. Great reaction and welcome to the wonderful world of Stevie Ray.🎸🎶💙‼️, the best to ever do it🎶🎶. Highly recommend any song from the Austin City Limits 1989 venue. "Couldn't Stand the Weather" and " Riveria Paradise" are two of his originals and my favorites. Keep these coming!
SRV was /still is the greatest guitarist of all time . I'd like to suggest " life without you " capitol theater NJ 1985 ,take notice of the early guitarist swap watch carefully! Also he broke his tooth, picking the guitar. ❤
"Stevie was an endless, open channel that music just poured out of. He made people who'd never touched a guitar in their life want to pick one up and start playing, and he made those of us who'd played live onstage with him before want to quit.".................Eric Clapton.
I subscribed to your channel because of this reaction. I loved it! I love seeing people reacting to him. I was raised on his music since I was a little girl. He was and will always be the greatest guitarist ever. And he was a sweet and humble man. ❤❤

Greatest guitar slinger of ALL time. You don't forget Stevie Ray!!!
I sat down and cried my eyes out the day SRV died. He was just incomparable.
I remember exactly where I was.
For soul and pure emotion, the greatest guitarist who ever lived. The man never played a wrong note.
There's nothing like watching SRV play the guitar, even without sound, but with sound .... nothing is even close.
This man encapsulated every emotion, every nuance of the human experience, thru his guitar, and his soul.

I live in Wichita. Wish I could've been there
I was lucky enough to have seen him perform at the Illinois state fair just a couple weeks before his untimely passing. Such a talented musician.

And you could probably light a cigarette with the guitar after he was through playing it.
