Luckily the person who assembled mine did a great job any I didn’t have any of those issues. I’ve emailed you the requested info about the tool. Tight lines 🤙🏻

    Superb attention to detail. I actually replace all flat knobs with round ones nowadays, they are superior in that it takes no time for your fingers to find their way into position to reel, whereas the flat knobs sometimes delay you when you get that bite.

    The Cardiff is shimano’s trout brand I believe as such most trout rods come with premium cork butts. This is reason they went with cork knobs on this real. Similar reasoning behind the Daiwa silver creek air knobs. I purchased one the Cardiff XR when first release and think it’s beautiful too, should pair nicely with a nice trout rod. I haven’t fished it yet .

    I have a 5000 vanford and Scorpion MD that comes with huge round power knobs. Both came with a plastic tool thats designed to open the knob end cap. I believe a 4000 size T handle grip would might fit/replace the cork knob. I tried to use the flat knobs from a 2500 size to replace the giant power knob on my 5000 size and it was too short. It also had a gap like yours. I use a 4000 size T handle to repalce my round knob on the 5000 and it works.

    hi, I used the original Shimano Stella bearing as a bearing for the rotor in the nut. This has a brass sleeve pressed in for the shaft. Brass has a sliding property so the shaft is not damaged. and if wear occurs, this occurs in the brass sleeve and the shaft remains intact.

  • @Henry-xh8ec
    @Henry-xh8ec Год назад +1

    Good review.
    The reel should have come with a black plastic knob cap removal tool. It will keep the knob cap from getting scratched up.
    Also, will the regular shimano knobs not fit it? I've have other shimano round cork knobs that i just replaced with their regular septon knobs.
    Doesn't the ceramic bearings make the reel much louder? I had a reel with ceramic bearings and it sounded horrible when retrieving. I had to switch them out with stainless bearings.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Год назад +1

      My gosh, all these years i never saw that tool! Thank you for pointing that out - it was tucked in on the side and i never saw it! Well, i wasn't looking for it because i haven't seen these knobs before.
      As for regular shimano knobs, as i mentioned in the video, Hedgehog studios has knobs that will fit, but like I said, with the shipping its minimum 30-40 dollars. Now, if you have a cheap alternative from China - i would love a link, as thats what most people would be interested in. The cheap carbon knobs i buy from China don't fit this.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Год назад +2

      As for loud bearings, you are correct in general.. Thats why i don't use ceramics for main gear. I've tried them in the line roller and its too loud because it spins too fast. But on the oscillation worm they are great! Oscillation worm spins too slow for the bearings to make noise. The main shaft is right in the middle, which is why i use hybrid ceramic there, which has ceramic balls but steel races and is quiet enough.

      @@ifishcatfish The cheap carbon knobs from china are copies of the Daiwa carbon knobs so it might not fit on the shimano shaft. I figured just put the flat shimano paddle knob on it and call it a day.

      Yes it is. In Japan.
      I already ordered 2 of them in size 2000.
      Which is funny, legalis will differ in different parts of world.
      Screw in handle, low gear ratio, Shallow spool and 5g less of weight - those things are desired for Japan version. The Australia/Europe/other will go only with D spools, bigger weight, normal/high gear ratio, and what is the worst awful double color handle which in not screw in.
      Cmon Victor, order it, we need your review.
      I truly bielieve it can be game changer for under 100$ reels.

      order it WHERE? I don't see it for sale in the usual shops that ship here, and if i ask a subscriber to buy it for me, shipping will cost as much as the reel. Businesses have much cheaper shipping. If i ask my subscriber, he has to pay for the reel to be shipped to him and then he has to pay for shipping to me and i have to pay for everything at the end. It is very expensive and i do it only for exotic items. Legalis will become available eventually and thats when i will get it and review it

When i bought the cardiff 2 10 years back, the knob removing tool was inclusive in the package. But when take a look on the kork knob of this cardiff you reviewed, it looks not good produced and super bad quality. Another thing is by using flater bearings you can put for example a nice daiwa rcs knob on that handle. I personally dont like this knob you showed. • @lansiman
    @lansiman Год назад

    i can respect if you say your preference is so on and so on, but referring those features as stupid make you look really stupid yourself
    round knob - this is absolutely preference thing, there's nothing stupid about it
    carbon drag - this is actually superior drag washer to felt and is as smooth if you grease it properly, factory drag grease sucks, i have several and they perform way smoother on daiwa drag grease, on both carbon and felt, the most stupid thing is you look at the surface and thinking rough surface equal bad

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Год назад

      I will grant your points that the knob and the drag is my preference, vs objective flaw. But this is why i call them 'stupid' instead of bad or inferior. I make it obvious that this is simply my preference and not an actual defect. And i have several videos where i go in detail about the purpose of this drag, and if you want your drag to be able to release line very quickly in case of emergency, these drags are great for that.
      Rough surface is detrimental to consistent line release. Especially rough and hard, like on this carbon, additionally reduces the contact surface, so to allow even faster emergency line release. My grease is extremely sticky and thick and fills the holes and evens out the surface, increases the contact between the carbon and the metal washer, and reduces the surging. Of course its a personal preference.
      I am told there are some reels with carbon disks that are very smooth. That is of course possible as they may have multiple drag disks which increases the contact surface many times! I always point out which reels i am talking about.
      I make no apology for my disgust with this surging drag behavior and round cork knobs but i feel i have always made it clear this is just my preference.

      @@ifishcatfish bro next time you try calling stupid on something you don't like in Texas, you'll might not able to see what coming next to you bro.
      carbon drag isn't the reason for "surging" drag(we call it sticky drag), nor it being single or multi disk, i change my stradic 1000 from felt to carbon and grease it properly, its now way smoother and stronger than the stock felt drag, carbon drag is regarded as the best drag material empirically
