The Oldest running Manufacturer of Sidecars. No Assembly line, still Old School hands on build. Went to the Watsonian Squire/ Royal Enfield Shop in July 2018. Well worth the visit, from Durban South Africa.
If you got two of the same motorcycles year make and model- can you simply go about welding them together? And how would you know where to weld them? I wonder if they can just lock into place and detach easily
Yes. Some touring bikes have a system in place where stepping on the rear brake activates both front and rear wheel disc brakes on the bike. Honda Goldwings for example. They also have the normal hand lever for the front brakes. So it's a simple matter to change that to where the foot pedal activates the rear bike brake, and the sidecar brake, and the hand brake the bike front wheel. The trick is to be sure that you use a front wheel and brake assembly on the sidecar, that it the same as the one on the bike.
I'm very new to sidecars but yes, there are brakes for the sidecar wheel. My double adult coachbuilt has one. I've seen them plumbed in either in unison with the brakes of the motorcycle or independently operated. In the case of independent operation (uk side chair) it allows you to apply drag to the chair wheel and assist in left turns as the bike wants to "go round" the dragging wheel.
audio is missing

Does or has anyone ever put a brake on the side car wheel ?
