Real Hawaiian Teriyaki Steak -Teriyaki on the Griddle
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 14 окт 2024
- This recipe for real Hawaiian teriyaki steak comes to me straight from a native Hawaiian! This Hawaiian teriyaki beef is fantastic with all of the sweet sticky goodness that you expect from teriyaki. And the real teriyaki marinade is so dang good that my wife even made the comment that we’ll never buy store-bought bottled teriyaki sauce again. If you’re looking for a creative new dish to make on your Blackstone, Camp Chef, or Pit Boss flat top grill, then try this awesome real Hawaiian beef teriyaki on the griddle!
You’ll notice that this Hawaiian teriyaki beef on the griddle is missing a key Hawaiian ingredient… pineapple! That’s because when teriyaki originated in Hawaii, pineapples hadn’t even been brought to the islands yet. So no, pineapple juice is not an ingredient in authentic Hawaiian teriyaki. And you really don’t miss it, trust me!
We used thin sliced flank steak for our Hawaiian teriyaki steak, because that’s the most authentic. But you can also use this awesome marinade for chicken, fish, or pork.

Thank You....
Japanese but born and raised in hawaii and gotta say, this is pretty faithful to how most places do teri beef here. Looks amazing
Well thanks bud..it was important to represent with respect
Happy Father's day FTK , much respect to you for the willingness to listen to the person whom was offended and take his/her knowledge along with yours and create a killer recipe.. Much respect brotha ✌️
Thanks Cody....i appreciate that
Can’t wait to make it!! Thank you for all your great informative Videos! And have a Happy Fathers Day!!
Have fun!
Are you serious!!!!!?
Now I’m gonna have to buy a Griddle and surprise my wife with this recipe. 😂😂😂😂
That looks delicious 🤤 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
hhahahaha Thats the goal for sure...looking back at this recipe I would cut the sugar in half....You can always add more to your liking...
Love your channel my friend, keep cooking the way you want
Thanks so much
What an absolutely great Hawaiian teriyaki dish you recreated Neal! Thanks for the story behind this cook. It’s the stories and thoughts that go into creating wonderful meals that, in my opinion, helps build this griddle community! Awesome cook brother! Thank you my friend! Cheers!
Thanks Jay...hope you have a great Fathers Day
Super awesome cook Brotha ✊🏼🧐! That was pretty cool of him sending you his recipe. I always buy the store bought, but i’ll give this recipe a go. Great choice with the flank 😋👌! Happy Father’s Day My Guy, enjoy your day. I think my sons are going to bbq some new yorks for me. I cant wait. Cheers y’all 👊🏼😎🤙🏼
Hey Happy Father’s Day to you as well...are you on our fb group or instagram...if so hit me up personally
TFTK! Much respect to the gentleman sending you the recipe, but cooking is a form of ART! Keep doing YOU! And keep inspiring! Still waiting for the Fondo video. ;-)
Thank you! Will do!...I honestly forgot about that one. I just wrote it down and will stae=rt looking into it..
@@TheFlatTopKing No worries, brother! My name is Jeff. Nice to meet you!
@@sportscardmania8445 Thanks Jeff
That looks awesome! Just ordered my 4 burner Camp Chef and can't wait to get cooking with it. Thanks for all the great ideas.
Awesome! Thank you!
We use Galic, Ginger, brown sugar and Aloha Soyu with green leaf onion that’s the Hawaiian BRBQ sauce
That meat looks perfect. I think you were wise to exclude the sesame oil because adding it brings the recipe much closer to Korean bulgogi. Anyway, I'm in Hawaii every summer and I've never seen Hawaiian natives cooking with anything but charcoal. It makes the meat smoky. I know you are a flat top griller, so your technique is how you do things. I'm going to definitely use you ingredients--but gotta go with charcoal instead. Cheers
Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to try this
You are so welcome...after making it and if I would do it again I would cut the sugar in half...then start from there....maybe a hair sweet...
Home Run!
Thanks Chris...
Hello, love how u prep that steak thats going to be good👍🏽❤
Great tip on not shocking the grill with too much product. Thank you for the video
you bet..
Just tried the recipe from your website and wow. Best teriyaki I have had since ... well a long time.

@@Stacey.B on the teriyaki i would use approximately half the sugar i used.
@@TheFlatTopKing I have been thinking about it since I saw the video. I'm definitely going to try it. The soy sauce you used was ALOHA but I haven't seen it in stores. Is it different than what I would find here in Tennessee? Thx

Hi Flat top king! I really enjoy watching your videos and made a few things that I learned from your channel on my Camp Chef also. Anyways, I live in Sacramento California and here we have a burger restaurant called Squeeze In Burger. I believe Guy Fieri from the food network actually hosted an episode of his show in that restaurant. I think this burger should be right up your ally since it’s made on a griddle. Please look it up and I would love to see your version of this burger! Thank you again and keep up the good work!
Hey I appreciate the kind words...I will look around
Good video Neil just got back in town, catching up on videos. That meal looks good my friend. THANK you Frank from montana....

Great variation on a way to prepare a meal and serve a steak that is moist flavorful and within todays budget for a family. Keep them coming……

Excellent video! I look forward to trying the recipe!!

Great suggestion! Sounds great...
Looks bomb bro and super juicy! Happy Father's Day brother.

Fantastic! This sure looks like a winner to me!😊Great tip to caramelized the pineapple, and "clean as you go" is especially great advice with that sticky sauce👍

Hello I had to text back again that looks so goooood!
HAHAHAHA your always welcome Mrs Erma...
Happy Father’s Day🤘🏼💪🏼🤘🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Sesame oil is a very important ingredient that adds a hint of nuttiness and smokiness making it a true taste of Hawaii. The only thing I can think of for a similar taste substitution is peanut oil (or a tiny amount of peanut butter mixed with vegetable oil) along with one drop of liquid smoke.
Probably comes from different family recipes..i just followed his recipe..
Nice little bit at the end.
Looks amazing happy Father’s Day buddy
Thanks so much
Made this for supper tonight. The teriyaki recipe is killer! Marinated the steak for 24 and was delicious! Thanks
hey thats awesome...thanks
looks so good!! I was hoping to see how you finished up the broccoli!!
Um we just steamed and griddled until the broccoli still had some crunch...I do not like soggy broccoli
Great video! I have learned so much from your channel in the last couple weeks. Doesn't make sense to me that someone gets offended by you putting your own twist in cooking something. If you had made some derogatory statement about a culture, that may be different, but just cooking? C'mon man. I grew up in South Knoxville and now live in MI. When you mention East TN, or the Vols, it starts making me homesick lol.
Hey neighbor...I grew up in South K as well South Doyle middle and high
Oh Yeah I agree...its crazy what people get offended by...or think they have to say..Like you cooked your bacon to long...it to crispy...
Graduated Doyle in 1990. Last year it was Doyle before it changed to South Doyle. I lived on Stock Creek road. The big ridge you can see behind the football field, I lived on the othet side. Small world lol.
So makin this this weekend
I personally would back off on the amount of sugar...add and taste as you go...i migh have added a little to much
That looks amazing!
Thanks Kelly...how are those biscuits...hahahah

Love watching your griddle show's don't really care which griddle you are using for the most part they are some what the same. We just have a 2 burner portable one we take it camping and use it the most. But anyway I think you are a straight shooter and have some good recipes you cook. Your my favorite griddle show!
Hey Trevor I appreciate that...
Sesame oil is a key for unique taste nothing can replace it
I came so close to put it in but he said that the original didnt have it in there..just like pineapple or brown sugar..but he prefered it in there...so i was debating...
You’re amazingly talented, thanks for sharing. I don’t have Facebook otherwise I’d follow you there.
No problem buddy...
Outstanding
thanks Mike
That looked amazing, I’ll be making that this week!! Was that flank or skirt steak?!
Flank....
You did an awesome job if only we could taste it thru your video hahahaha.😂😂
Thank you
Man! I’ve watched a ton of videos today on Beef Teriyaki.. Trying to see who else uses a splash of Vinegar (like my Momma did). Being Polynesian, I approve this video! Again, only thing missing was the vinegar. Great job, +1 sub and I don’t even have a flat top! 😂
hahha Man I have to tell ya, I really appreciate that...Personally after making that I can really see that a splash would have balanced perfectly..
Also, when I inquire about temp settings, I'm curious where you have your temp dials set low/medium/high. I'm never concerned about actual temperature because I do not have an IR thermometer.
LOW...
FT King I was stationed in Hawaii for 3 years in the 25th ID. Knew several locals and this recipe is the closest I have seen to how they cooked. He said no condiments, not necessary. That is true, I rarely saw anyone add anything to the finished meat
First thanks for your service...I appreciate that...really do...cheers
Another Home Run

I think you nailed it. I can taste through the monitor. Navy Cooks are the best. Sign out, EM1/SS
heck yeah.....CS2 SS...
By the way really diggin your channel
Thanks...we really appreciate the support
People get their feelings hurt over the silliest things.
definitely... writer said it wasn't traditional 🤔 but if you listen to the video it's mentioned that even on the island it has various ways of making it so it it was traditional it would be one way 🤔 😂 cooking isn't science it's making what you like and adding your spin to it......
I don't think his feelings were hurt...I think he was trying to educated Neil in something he was proud of
The government has brainwashed the new generation
Certainly looks like a home run to me, yummo, that pineapple will be perfect on my Aussie burger 😀
Oh yes!
I'm thinking about picking up one of those Yukon tool chests from the store to use as a prep table alongside my griddle. Are you able to keep yours in storage when not in use? I'm not able to do that and I'm wondering if some sort of cover will help that wood top not succumb to the elements of West Texas, my location.
I honestly dont know...I think you could buy it and maybe find a cheap alternative to just keep the rays off the top. Maybe a piece of plywood or 1/2s stained and put together,. If completely outside somehow maybe a tarp for moisture
Thanks!
Ty...much appreciated
good vid dood!!!
thanks Harry
Aloha from Hawaii!
You must use dark brown cane sugar.
great video just order my pit boss 3 burner
Awesome..
Trying this with some sliced up pork loin tonight.
hey let me know what you think...im interested as well
Home run.. Just ordered that Aloha soy sauce
i would suggest doing less sugar if I had to do it over...add half and start tasting to see what you like
good job braddah

Just had a brain cell go through, first "The Flat Top King Recipe Book", then "The Flat Top King all purpose rub. :)
I agree to all..I have a steak seasoning I have been working on...
Maybe the guy should appear on your channel and show us how the recipe is done. Just a thought 👑.
That would be cool
That’s definitely Hawaii style Teri Beef! Make a Teri beef sandwich with the left overs and eat it with a “cup of noodle”
Man I wish that comment came in earlier...sounds fantastic
@@TheFlatTopKing There’s always a next time 🤙🏽 Btw…. I wish other people had the respect you have for peoples culture when it comes to food. It’s really disrespectful when these “foodies” say it’s authentic then they “twist and take” the recipe.
@@156x It means a lot to me to represent ALL. I might not be able to produce the best but not by not trying. I was really happy he reached out and challenged me.
I wish there was a class in schools about culinary history. It’s literally something we do all day. We need food to survive and it would be neat to know about other cultures and their take on food and how its made.
Thanks for reaching out. It means alot. Aloha
Mmm
I noticed you said one cup of Soy Sauce and the Mirin would be half that, but you only added 1/4 cup. Would you recommend it that way or a half cup? Thanks and Happy Fathers Day.
Yes it I was looking at the cup and forgot I had doubled it...I cup soy and 1/4c mirin...My full recipe is on my website theflattopking.com/
I'm really that kind of person that don't care about everybody says ...it looks great and I'm pretty sure it tastes great too so if it fits you..... 👍 Next time so people won't get offended just say .this is my take on this recipe. And problem solved
I hear ya...i guess I didnt or dont like the idea of cooking for people who feel like the culture was offended by not knowing...heck I dont know everything or know how to cook everything...I agree just say your piece and move on...
I want one of them t-shirts.
We will be making them...
You should try to make a Korean dish...bulgogi
ill look into it
what cutting board is that?
The brand is Richlite...
Gotta do the Sesame oil and seeds.
Maybe...but thats not in his specific recipe
I'm from Hawaii and currently live in Hawaii. They tend to get offended easily over here. Teriyaki is actually Japanese not Hawaiian. There's a very large Japanese influence in Hawaii.
I was told the opposite...the teriyaki was invented before the influence of Japanese...before pineapple and before brown sugar....once the immigration was happening the trend started with the ingredients being brought over
@TheFlatTopKing Teriyaki itself is a Japanese name. It is a big part of modern Hawaiian culture do to the large Japanese influence. It originated in 17th century Japan. Why would Hawaiians invent something, then name it a Japanese name? They didn't even know Japanese back then. Either way, thanks for the video brother!

You’re CARamelizing not CAMELizing,👀 the Maillard reaction.
HHHAHAHAH your lucky I got that much out...
How about they just don’t watch lol. People will always have something negative to say.
I don't think it was like that, I took it as pride in his culture and wanting to teach Neil
Yeah..i think so to...its the comemericalzation of teriyaki sauce found in the Asian isle that is massed produced...the original way has beed taken from the people and I am sure most people think teriyaki is Asian...
@@briankoebele2549 I understand that 💯
In my opinion cooking is very subjective, personally I always strive to go authentic as possible then ill adjust to my taste, sometimes it turns out to be a completely different from the “authentic recipe “ but oh well my family and friends don’t complain!! Cheers
you are 100 correct..
I totally agree you should respect cultures and individuals. But....any culture that puts spam in sushi may not be taken serious all the time. Good video
That was only a 1/4 on the mirin
