- Guitar Bow - Does It Work With Ukulele?
Unboxing and look the G-Bow from Naomi. Obviouslt this has been designed for using with a guitar but will it work with a concert ukulele.
I recently received a "Guitar Bow" by NAOMI - naomi.pro/
As a long time double bass and cello player I had no idea what I was going to be trying but I was definitely interested to see how it would work with a ukulele.
You can currentlly buy G-Bow here (but please watch the whole video first): naomi-music.myshopify.com/pro...

Rachel the childish look on your face is priceless. I could see you were having fun.😅
Definitely having fun with this one Judi! 😆
You gotta try out the e-bow next !!!
Yes, yes and YES! 🤘
ha reminds me that I need to try and Ebow on my electric ukulele. Great fun video - I enjoyed Smoke on the Water !
Yes, I was hoping it would be something similar to an E bow but sadly not! Still a bit of fun - apart from the sticky fingers! 🥴
No matter what Rachel reviews, you can always tell by her facial expression - before she speaks - whether or not she likes or dislikes the feature she's talking about. I suggest that you never play poker for money. Loving the channel.
😂 Love it Andy! I could probably play poker with my bass face mind! 😉
I bet you thought they'd send you a "guitar beau"! 😊
I feel this thing maybe would work in making ambient/minimalist/noise music. I'm thinking effects, etc.
And I would have liked to see if you can manage to play two strings at the same time. You know, at a very low angle? Anyways.
Always fun to watch and listen.
Cheers, friend!
Thanks Steph. Yes it could be fun with effects etc. Maybe on an older cheaper electro acoustic but it’s a shame you have to use such short bow strokes. 👍
Interesting. Good video Rachel !
Thanks Bonnie, definitely a bit of fun! 😎
Hmmm! Thanks for posting this video - I am a sucker for gadgets like this so sort of glad it didn't work - reckon that if I had come across it for sale online I may well have given in to temptation 🙂. When the video started, it took me back to thinking how 10CC in the 70s set about using a kind of bowing machine for the electric guitar- they called it a GIZMO (features on their Sheet Music album I seem to remember).
Yes Alan, a bit of fun and thought it might stop a few uke players wasting money and give some guitar players an idea. 😉
I have wanted to try one of these, but not spend the money on the one they offer on RUclips or Facebook ads ($65 US).
Hi Chris, yep it’s a company that sent me a ukulele hanger previously. I really wasn’t sure what it was they going to send so it was an interesting review. Definitely glad you didn’t spend $65 on one. Hope you are keeping well? 😊
Fun experiment
It was fun to try Mary, shame it’s not quite useable with our little ukes.
Hi Rachel. Try it with a semi acoustic uke and add some effects. , also, have you tried it across the front of the uke , across all the strings the same way you would a violin. Be interesting to see how that works.
Hi Lorraine, yes I think it would be very cool with some effects and a bit of practice. Just not sure if I can cope with the stick strings on one of my electric ukes. It won’t work across the strings because they are flat unlike the violin or cello that had an arched bridge. I did think about it! 👍
Yes it does look very sticky and messy , so I know what you mean not wanting to get it on your uke. Probably not worth the bother. I was forgetting the violin is arched . I've seen smaller versions of those bows , which may be better for a uke.
What about playing on the 1st string Rachel legato I think it's called or playing a guitar where there's more room internally check out a Mr James Page esquire?? Looks interesting...😊😊
Maybe I’ll have another little play Bill, it would be cool with some effects! 🤘
what that would do to my uke bass rubbery strings.. added with chorus and reverb…
I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry. The sound - maybe. The sticky strings - arghhhhhh 😂
@@UkuleleWales oddities do have enchanting taste on them..
Nice try Rachel but not the ideal pairing but at least you seemed to enjoy trying it out❤
Oh I did have fun Peter even though it was fairly obvious that it wasn’t going to work properly. 😎
Do you think it would work on a radiused board, the play vertical across the board. Lick Jimmy Page? not through the body?
Even with a radius on the fretboard Randall I don't think you'd get enough of an angle, if you think about a violin or cello bridge. 👍
Thanks something to think about. Great content as always
😂Fun experiment!
A bit of fun for sure. 😎
well, if one has the necessary motivation & patience, to mess around … for some effects on a studio recording … why not!?
I think it may be good with effects but unfortunately the uke body size will never do it justice. Still a bit of fun though 😉
A good, but early April the 1st prank I think Rachel!!!
I saw this on another video somewhere. But the person was playing on an actual guitar. It may be good for making special effects sounds, but not practical for anything else.
Totally impractical on a solid body Uke or even some of the acoustic ones with no conventional soundhole. Personally I can't even see much application with a Guitar. I have a Uke with a radiused fretboard which of course includes the same radius atnut and saddle but not as much as on a traditionally bowed instrument so I have to ask, why did they bother ? I think the e bow is probably a bit more practical. 🤔🙄
Yes, would love to try an Ebow. I did think twice about posting the video but thought it might actually stop some people wasting Monet, plus it was a bit of fun. 👍
If it wasn’t for the sticky aspect I might try this on an electro acoustic but……… sticky! 😂
If I’d though I should have left this till April 1st!! 😂
Interesting idea but it still needs work.
A lot of work I suspect Clive. 😆
Have you eyed up a new Kala solid body yet?
@@UkuleleWales no I haven’t Rachel, but I will soon. Happy Easter 🐣 x
@@clivehunte3026 Brilliant, let me know what you get. If you check out the Kala website you'll see 5 string and fretless options coming soon too. 👍
Thank god it's not L shaped or else it would be an L-Bow
😂😂😆😆
err, defo not for me
Fai enough Tony. Not something I’m recommending for uke. 👍
