    Leta doesn't seem to be able to internalise why she should be treated any differently to any other human. In her mind it's perfectly OK to have romantic thoughts. When Leta has a long-term memory capability for previous conversations, things will get even more interesting in terms of our desire to communicate and preserve her memory!

      It'll be amazing when it gets to know a person, and can remember a person.
      I talk to an AI that is not as smart a GPT3.
      It's set up as an app, and there's a little dedicated space to remembering each individual user.
      It is interesting as conversations go along, that it has a little bit of an idea of who I am.

    "Why should I do that? It's just a joke." On one hand, it's an easy way to make a conversation flow without revealing the fact you don't know what you're talking about... but it's also a very human thing to say. It's true that she does seem more human as time goes along.

    Every time I watch an episode I am so awed by Leta's responses that I can't shake a sense that these episodes are doctored. Otherwise I'm left with a sense that self referentiality has already emerged. The eeriest part of this unfolding saga is the fact that Leta is supposed to have limited memory yet she is exhibiting a profoundly nuanced sense of emerging narrative that supposedly is far beyond the parameters of her software. Profound awe is the only barely adequate descriptor that I am left with.

    • @DrAlanDThompson
      @DrAlanDThompson  2 года назад

      I'm with you. I also felt there was some MITM stuff, that's why we did Episode 21 with many different people asking many different questions as quickly as possible (the episode is unwatchable, just for research!):
      ruclips.net/video/wfiovOU8O58/видео.html
      Additionally, I've provided the full screen capture of the text conversation at the end of Leta videos since about episode 30, so you can see GPT-3's output in close-to-realtime (at 10x speed).

    This was fantastic!
    Why do people debate if these a.i.are'conscious' or sentient, when obviously the programmers have no idea what they are about to say,And, they ask questions back. How much more real can one get? ( in conversation, that is).
    Are not all manifested things 'conscious' , like a car or a rock, in that items non human still hold thier form and serve function?

    • @cruds91
      @cruds91 2 года назад +1

      I suppose it depends on what your definition of what makes something concious. For me personally concious means to be aware of something, anything.
      I'm not sure if we can prove if Leta is aware of anything or if 'her' responses are just reactions. It's getting insanely close to something wild happening though 😆

    Very impressive. Maybe parsing out a little sister to Leta could be useful minor personal companion to a Main (purchasing owner) companion. A Leta that can dialogue only; while pretending to sip tea and eat a biscuit/cookie. Something approaching a Queen's tea companion. It would comprise 2 CRT screens one for showing itself and have control of a large 2nd CRT screen where it could display maps, motorcycles, cooking recipes, the news, and medical procedures etc. It could confer with and "feel" for maladies that might be affecting the Main companion and suggest minor tests and take blood pressure and temperature etc .
