"for the length it goes from here to here so its about that long" lmao wtf? Product review? More like "I cut my leg with a machete and heres what happened" review.
Is that actually a rule? I've had things cut to the bone before and usually I just toss some salt and charcoal powder in it to stop the bleeding and such.
@peachtree2579 I've cut to bone many times. Just disinfect and wrap after pulling it out. Just have to be careful on the pull out depending on how deep it stuck. Saved me thousands over the years
"It goes from here to here, about that long." Edited: Saw your comment, maybe in the description add what you responded to another comment with; 28" total in length. 18" of blade. Sharp as a razor. High grade steel. Might be too sharp as a machete. Half of the video is talking about almost cutting off your leg. Not the kind of limbs I'm wondering how it cuts but I'll take it under advisement.
Hey bud (and all), the first machetes you show, the cheap chipped blades... is that what you call "edge rolls"? I've seen using this expressiin pretty much everywhere but still havent got it clear what it means, even google is no big help... I was so keen on the Gerber Gator (no matter the bad reviews, most of which i really think are due to demanding to use its carbon-steel blade beyond its intended purpose) but now by total chance i've spotted this Fiskars one and efen if it means carrying a separate saw, it really has got me. Cheers from the Italian Alpine woods :)
nah, that's chipping, an edge roll is where the edge is curled over, and with a rasp you can actually knock most of the metal back to true by scraping it in the right direction, but figuring out the direction you need to rasp is functionally either a trial and error task, or need one-on-one hands-on training from someone who's already done the trial and error
Alright, i see, thanks. I found a couple of videos showing it good enough i guess, they say (very roughly here) first you scrap it at a sharp angle (like 30° from the blade) then you sharpen just the edge, sharp, but at a blunter corner like 45° so the edge section is thin and the hitting force will let it in the wood to cut, but that thin blunter edge won't be razor-sharp but should in fact keep cutting and not chip away or get blunt too soon. So far i have a cheap 10 eu machete (which i had had for ages and didnt know it might actually work), 'sweet/soft steel', i did it that way and it does cut decently well... but as soon as i can i'll get this Fiskars mostly for the material and shape and all... versatility hopefully... Thanks :)
The sheath that comes with the machete axe isn't really a sheath, more of a carrying case. No belt loop or strap loops...does anyone know of an aftermarket belt sheath, or a way to secure existing sheath to a rucksack for carrying in the wild?
Good question Dave. I keep mine on my quad but it would be nice to have a harness that allowed you to pull it from behind your head like in Game of Thrones. I of course would cut my ear off and then my friends would call me Van Gogh!! Hell of a blade.
Definitely. And being very cognizant of where the machete will go if you miss or strike a thick vine which is actually soft and momentum carries the blade thru faster than you expected. Swing away from legs!!! No better machete.
I love Fiskars products. Almost all fiskars Gerber machetes are Chinese made. I got one of fiskars machetes and found them to be extremely front end heavy
None shall pass!!! Cracked up as soon as I saw your comment. Watched it at least 100 times back in the day. Classic. Thanks Randy. Now go cut down the largest tree in the forest with a herring.
If my machete axe won’t at least cut through my clothes and leg or if I can at least pull it out of my bone and limp myself back to civilization before I bleed out. Lol
Thanks Andrew. Appreciate your candor. If it will hack up your leg to the bone...it will easily chop a vine or small tree. Buy it. It is a beast. What did you have to sign before watching my clickbait?
"As far as length, it goes from here.... to here. So it's about that long." LOL !!!!
Sooo i randomly jump to a section and wind up right on this spot. Hilarious.
I know...this review is more about him cutting his shin.
Lol 😂
Thats good length. And I'm tired of blades sticking into my bones. I need a good non stick one that's almost exactly from there to three.
Lol!! To help him out, I think it's 29" model.
1 part axe
1 part machete
1 part Uruk-hai berserker blade
"for the length it goes from here to here so its about that long" lmao wtf? Product review? More like "I cut my leg with a machete and heres what happened" review.
Lmao
Just a tip, if something cuts you down to the bone and is still in place, don’t remove it until you get to an emergency room

Axe 🪓 review.. you know it’s a good axe because you’ll be able to remove it from the bone in your leg ? Lol 😆 that cracked me up
You may want to add some shin guards like a catcher wears.
And then he actually kept putting the blade next to his wound! The man actually said ouch I think I cut it again? well you don’t say.
This video is very useful, ive been viewing this product for a while and see its durability and also thanks for not harming our lil 6 legged friend

This is like a Norm McDonald telling a joke. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Even the way of talking is similar. Stay safe.

I’ve just started using a machete and need to give some thought to safety gear

Fiskars made good stuff. Careful bro. sharp object.😱
Great review... Length... goes form here to here..😂
They should have called it the "Machetaxdrawknife Thing" and made the sheath capable of sliding onto the top axe part as the 2nd drawknife handle.
is the tip only the sharpened blade?
Gotta use Japanese hatchets. 80year olds clear brush and plant rice with their amazing tools. Best steel in the world.
Looks like a nick not à gash

Can you use it to baton logs?
Really? The length is from here to here?

Have it planned for once it is stuck into the bone, you know how to prop your leg and wiggle it out. Lol thats rough
I was wanting a review, not a bone leveraging review.😴
Most of the video was about your injury. Not what I signed up for!
