- Since 1982, Vanna White has demonstrated that no one reveals letters better than she. Correspondent Mo Rocca talks with the "Wheel of Fortune" co-host about her 37 years revealing puzzles, her inauspicious audition, and filling in for Pat Sajak during his recent emergency surgery.

I met Vanna a few years back! She is 100% like she is in this interview!! She was very gracious with her time and down to earth!! Not enough wonderful things to say about her
I have been a big fan of hers for 24 years. Does she seem to be a nice lady besides being the greatest letterboard person on TV?
My 58 year old friend Dawn was diagnosed with dementia. We just had to put her into an assisted living facility last year. She has never missed a night of watching Wheel of Fortune for as long as I can remember. It's the only thing she consciously watches. Vanna, she loves you. If you read this, please say hello to Dawn in Bedford, NH on your next show. She would be so excited.
then put it on replay every day. and everyday would she'd get excited about hearing her name on tv.
For Lent untill Easter, there will not
Be any food or TV....,.......Later...
Leobardo Lorenzo no food! Good luck.
Wow 58 is young for dementia
@@3John-Bishop I kno know. She is alone all day with elderly people over 80. We have no iea how this happened. No one in her family has it. She was an outstanding employee at HP for 3 years.
I had to immediately replay the part where the the narrator said "born 63 years ago". My gosh, she looks amazing!
Its all make up and hair color
Or maybe she eats right, has a good mentality, loving family, exercises, hydrates, great genes... you just never know.
Or maybe it's both.
She’s rich.. she should look good they pay her to 🤷🏻♀️
She really doesnt look like shes in her 60s..
She is humble and down to earth, a constant presence that brings comfort. God bless her!
Mo brings out the best in the people he interviews. He is a presence himself without upstaging his subject. A Mo Rocca interview is always a joy.
+emmgeevideo he's a clown
I met Vanna White at a book signing in Seattle in the late 80's or in the early 90's and she was down to earth, very friendly, and a very attractive lady! IAM amazed that she has been on Wheel of Fortune for nearly 40 years and still looks great!! I still watch it at times.Keep it going girl! Yff Mike.
She's lovely. You just like her. I was in high school when she started. She's the reason I started watching the show.
She's iconic. Whenever people "show off" something like a model, Vanna White is always the reference.
Testament to the producers for not going to a “younger model.” Love Vanna!
the producers wanted someone younger but Vanna has some smart Jews working for her interests.
Hi vanna white new host vanna white🔥🔥❤️👍 jeopardy please me jeopardy time
Ms. White seems like a genuinely down to earth, lovely lady. My grandma loved her some Wheel of Fortune- such nice memories. A charming interview.
Joan Rivers said it best "Love your husband, adore your husband, respect your husband and get as much as you can in your own name.' This is the advice I give my daughter.
As I have said before, I'm lucky enough to be the BIGGEST winner when #VannaWhite stepped in for #PatSajak during his surgery last year (I won $61,311 on December 19th, 2019 during Disney's Secret Santa). I can tell you first-hand how SWEET & WONDERFUL Vanna truly is. She made me feel very comfortable during our taping.
But, why didn't you show that she was unsuccessful getting out of Contestant's Row on #ThePriceIsRight that aired June 20th, 1980??
I love Vanna. She stated in a interview that Merv Griffin chose her from over 200 other young ladies who auditioned for the part. She claims Merv hired her because he liked the way she turned the letters (and her looks I bet) Lol!
I love Vanna. That is all.
You "love" her? Why?... That is kinda sad... you dont even know her... cultivate some real love and relationships!
Met Vanna a few years ago. She was down to earth and an absolute sweetheart.
Something comforting about wheel and jeopardy being the constant in our lives.
I am SOOOO in love with Vanna. If I were on the show, I wouldn’t even care about winning any money, I’d be staring at Vanna the whole time, batting my eyelashes at her, and doing everything possible to get her attention.
Why did this episode make me feel good? 👍
I think you know intuitively that she is real.
I met and photographed her just as she got the job, lovely lady. And ran into her years later on the lot when they filmed the show at the NBC lot in Burbank. Great to see she's still busy turning those letters. Quite an amazing career.
Vanna exudes goodness. She isn’t just beautiful - that truly is a dime a dozen in Hollywood. Vanna is a GOOD woman with a good character. So happy she has had such a great career for so long!
i love that wheel of fortune producers know their target audience. no one cares about some young random girl, they want vanna. she and pat are icons! they come in pairs
I remember when she was pregnant with her son and she announced it on the show. I was 12. Her son grew up nicely and I feel really old! haha
I remember Pat Sajak joking about how big she looked, then she revealed that she was hiding a teddy bear under her shirt. It was such a weird moment, but so cute.
She did a good job hosting Wheel of Fortune when Pat was in recovery.
So Humble, More famous people need to be like Ms. Vanna White. What a Class Act!
Vanna is so genuine and humble, and I think that's one of the many things lifelong viewers like myself love about her. And she's smiling all the way to the bank, so good for her!
Aw Vanna, she truly is an American institution. The show would not work without the chemistry she and Pat have as hosts of the show. This is a fun smart lady who has entertained millions over decades.
She has always been a class act. I remember always wanting a Vanna White Doll. I had her book, too. My Godmother has been watching since Day 1.
Man when they got on the floor to play marbles
That just blew me away
What an awesomely amazing woman you are Vanna
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
She did a wonderful job as hostess. Love her. 💕
" I never wear same dress twice ". LoL. That's crazy. 😄😁😎
id assume like many nba/nfl players they get new kicks every game!
@@awt1989 dress is probably 5-30k dollars a pop. compared to basketball shoes... nothing in comparison
@Eric Ryan the fact people pride themselves on their over priced basketball shoes is funny
On the show, she never wears a dress twice.
Not for Vanna. I looked forward to seeing what she wore.
You taught me to speak English! That's amazing! She has been a part of all our lives. I can't imagine wheel without her.
Being 44 years old.. She was someone I had a crush on growing up!
I H You still have a crush on her? Lol
I used to sneak into my Dad's office to peek at his Playboy Issue featuring Vanna!
I remember you Vanna from 1982-83 when you used to come into the club with John in his black corvette and when you visited us in NYC in 1984 when we opened the Chippendales of NYC at 61st and 1st. You have had a great career and well deserved.
I absolutely adore and love her I have so many wonderful memories of watching with my grandma I'm really broken with news Forever Vanna She will be forever in my mind 💔
God she's still as beautiful as ever. God bless ya Vanna love ya lots.
She did a good job hosting.
Just barely adequate imo. She should not be a permanent replacement.
I love her but she was a terrible host. She was a good sport.
@@summerbreeze553 I think she got better. At first it was understandably awkward, but I noticed it got better after each show.
00:53 Crazy! Steven is Back in the Saddle after Aerosmith, he put a lot of thought and Sweet Emotion into this editing, I may be Jaded but I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.
Vanna seems like a very down to earth person, and she's pretty.
Vanna is America’s sweetheart!
I have said it once and I will say it again, CBS morning news has the best interviews with famous figures about whom I have often wondered… Mo Rocca is a wonderful interviewer!
63 huh?
I just turned 63 myself... I have fond memories of visiting my grandmother and her talking with her best friend over the phone when 'Wheel' was on... and they did talk about what Vanna was wearing...
Holy cow 37 years. I'm 41 and I watched that show growing up as a kid..
Same here. I'm also 41 (well, I will be on March 3rd). I really miss the older style of this game show from the 80s.
*Changing Keys* theme to open and close the show...
Vanna turning letters over...
Let's face it...I miss just about everything from the 80s, not just Wheel Of Fortune.
39 here. WoF is one of the last good things left from our childhood.
I'm 36. Show is older than me
You did a whole profile on her and never mentioned that she’s active in business (Vanna’s Choice yarn line) and charity too (St. Jude Children’s Hospital).
She is a truly beautiful person, inside and out.
Awhhhh Randell I love you!!!! I saw it on your way and on your way back!!! You are the best!!!🥰❤💕
PHENOMENAL RUN- IRON WOMAN - IMPOSSIBLE TO THINK OF ANYONE ELSE IN HER SPOT
Love Wheel Of Fortune been watching it for years
Lots of Blessings to u Vanna!!🙏🙏❤❤ Love watching Wheel of Fortune!!👍👍❤❤
She is such a beautiful woman inside and out!

*_"THIS IS WHEEL OF FORTUNE, JOE!!!"_*
We love you Vanna!!
She seems so down to earth❤
I ❤️Vanna, love Wheel of Fortune. Pat has excellent comedic timing. Vanna looks amazing!
I love watching the wheel, Pat and Vanna are favorites, every day!
She and Pat took Amtrak from Florida to NYC. They stopped outside Brunswick, GA at the Thalmann station. There were high school bands all over the platform and thousands of people to see them. Taking photos for two newspapers, I went through a roll of film with a motor drive camera. I only had one good one but it was a beauty of Vanna. When my two month old grandson grows up enough to watch tv I can tell him I saw her way back when.
Ms White thank you, 7001 times! Beautiful job maam!
I started watching the show about 6 months ago. The only thing I find slightly annoying is the clapping by the contestants and even Vanna. It is not spontaneous. I think the clapping fills a kind of gap in the proceedings, but it is not spontaneous.
I think I remember reading her book a long time ago. It was pretty good and gave a lot more personal info that was interesting.
What a sweet lovely lady!
My Dad and I liked crossword puzzles, and when "Wheel of Fortune" was on and Mom was watching, Dad and I were not allowed to speak(or solve the puzzle first, "spoiling it" for her).
Meanwhile, my brother and sister, who lived in another town, would leap up from their chairs when the show started, to change the channel. But then, THEY had been to college.
I think that Vanna is great. I have, always. You can just tell that she's nice, under the perky. Nice to see this glimpse of the real girl. A marble shark. Who knew? Fortune passes everywhere.
Best job on tv.
Very sweet.
Did they say sixty three??? She lookesl ike a thirty year old...a very pretty thirty year old I might add!!! A classic beauty...It must be something in the water..Wow!!!! Way to go Vanna!!!! I'm proud of you!!! I don't watch much TV anymore... I forgot this gameshow was still on!! I'll start watching again!!!! It's very educational:)...Thanks Sunday Morning...you get an...A+
Contract ends..... PLEASE RENEW, PLEASE RENEW, PLEASE RENEW IN 2022?????? (WE) “I” STILL LOVE TO WATCH YOU!
*37-YEARS?!* *That's a little more than half my lifetime, and I never really even thought about how long it's been*
*It's my favorite game-show because I suck at playing it, unless it's 'Song & Artist(s)' and I've solved many that were
'all blanks' or just an 'apostrophe'...*I love 'Jeopardy' as well but it's 'too easy' for years now*
There are some wonderfully down-to-Earth aspects to Vanna White. She seems genuinely nice. She has a light touch (and no, I am not talking about turning letters). She understands that many people sort-of snicker at the simplicity of what she does, but she never takes it seriously. She's perfectly willing to laugh at herself, and to be in on the joke. She understands that many people could turn those letters, and look good, but she brings something more profound to the program. We think of her as "family." She is beautiful, but her beauty is not why we love her. She's like a sister. And, like a sister, we expect her to always be there. She's America's kid sister (even at 63). She's reassuring. Even in a competition, she seems like she cares that each person has a nice experience. She seems like someone who looks for the good in others. Yes, she got lucky to find such an easy, long-term, well-paid gig ... but, no one begrudges her that. She answers Mo's question that she is not worried that she will be replaced by a computer. And that's because she understands that turning the letters is the least of what she actually gives to the program. America loves her just exactly where she is. It makes people happy to see that this lovely, kind, sweet, empathetic woman landed in clover. She may have already earned a ton of money for doing an easy job ... but, we are still rooting for her happiness. Just as we would a kid sister. I don't even watch the show ... but, I understand Vanna White's appeal.
Love, love, love!
One of the smartest people in Hollywood. Never outgrew her job and is worth millions. Brilliant.
I don’t know… Pat Sajak seemed like he had some passive aggressive issues going on re: Vanna
J.M.Watkins You should read the article about that. Came out several years ago.
Vanna is so lovely. She's perfect
I saw her in the high-roller section of the casino at Paradise Island in 1989 or 90.
She was breathtakingly beautiful, looked like she was glowing.
Way to go, yes my mom and I watched you but unfortunately my mom passed away..its not the same. Keep tapping!👍🌹
It’s something how you can just tell without even meeting someone that they are just a good person inside…. She is a total sweetheart…. And how she remains a size Zero after all these years has taken some real discipline….😂
I love how she admits she watches compilation fails of WOF here on RUclips.
Still very beautiful ❤
She's my angel so special 💗
I LOVED Concentration! Wish they'd bring it back.
Match Game
Vanna was absolutely stunning when she was young. Just, WOW. And of course she looks great now for her age. She's a sweetheart, that's all I can say.
Vanna White!!! South Carolina checking in and saying How we like we you!
No mention of her Playboy pictorial? Don't tell my grandma about it!
A few fun facts:
One of the models Vanna beat out to become the hostess was 1975 Miss USA Summer Bartholomew.
Vanna’s first appearance on a game show was in 1980 on The Price Is Right. However she didn’t get out of Contestant’s Row.
Although the video mentions Vanna’s predecessor Susan Stafford, the original host, before Pat Sajak, was Chuck Woolery, who would later host Love Connection, Scrabble, Greed and Lingo.
Summer Bartholomew would also get a hostess job in the Game Show World on another NBC Daytime Game Show, the revived $ale of the Century with the late Jim Perry after Lee Menning left the show to raise a family
also, when Wheel of Fortune 1st debut on television, Pat Sajak was 28 years old and Vanna White was 17 when the show came out
Vanna also worked with 4 different hosts on Wheel:
Rolf Benirschke, sub-host Alex Trebek, Bob Goen and of course, Pat Sajak
A group of pill pushers/well wishers was my favorite also. And I still have my old console TV like my grandmother had.
She looks amazing!
I love you Vanna
smiling throughout this whole video. :)
If I was on the show I would bring her book. You should have had the clip of the incredible solve with just one letter. I couldn't do that
Wow. It was nice to hear Vanna talk about that part of her life when she was engaged to John Gibson. It was such a tragic accident. Such a lifetime ago. If he had lived I wonder what kind of life Vanna would've had? Would they still be married? I wonder what their kids would be like? ❤️. I'm also getting ready for the inevitable when possibly in just a few short years that Pat and Vanna may be leaving Wheel. Pat said himself in his post surgery interview that he probably has a good three years left before thinking about leaving. 😔😔
I Love Her.. So sweet and beautiful.
Back in the day I named my brand new 1995 white Dodge Grand Caravan ......yup, Vanna White!
Two things would make your story better. One, if you won it from the show and Two, if it was still running. It is a Caravan, after all. LOL
@@gchsbus Still see PT Cruisers but Caravans (the original box), nope!
CBS Sunday morning is repeating this segment
This is lovely.
The best gig going
Oh Vanna!
Great show..
Wow, she pretty and talent lady
The US was a good place to live back in the 80s. And 90s. Then it went downtown the tube.
Ms Vanna is timeless...just a good ole American gal.
Brings back memories of this fun parody by Dr. Dave (not Cheech Marin though it sure sounds like him). She's 'made it' alright.

4 days a month?! Questioning my entire life right now 😩😄
Michelle Lynn yeah, if you go in audience, you'll see that they record about 5 shows a day x4 gives them a full month. That's why they never mention what day it is on show.
