I think all the Primus albums are brilliant but Pork Soda is just one funky record. I keep all the CDs in my car and it's made for some interesting first dates.
When I listen Primus, I always feel King Crimson's influence. "Larks Tongues in Aspic", "Starless and Bible Black" and "Discipline" albums must be in the favourite album list of Claypool.
Last time I went to the DMV the lady literally accused me of lying on my drivers license because I was wearing glasses while I was there but I don't require them to drive. She made me prove I didn't need them. I had to do the whole eye test thing and all that. I was half expecting her to force me to land a backflip in order to renew my license 🤣🤣🤮🤮
I've been getting into Primus, and came to this album. Gotta say, THIS SONG RULES/SUCKS. Love the bass, the bitter, cynical humor,Larry's acid-drenched guitar, the little twists and turns Herb takes. As much as I love Brain, Herb's the guy for Primus.
Brain is incredible, but Herb has always been the best drummer for the band. Plus The Brown Album and Anti-Pop are both nowhere as good as the earlier stuff. Tales From The Punchbowl was the last great 90's Primus album. Their return with the Willy Wonka theme and their latest album were both incredible
Herb is the MAN! Yep, this might be their top song. What larry does is mind boggling, Les' vocals fit really well for this song and like you said, Herb's drumming as so many contrasts and moods to the song.
one of my favourite guitar solo's at the end of this song, completely under-rated though, even by Primus fans. some of the strangest guitar playing i've ever heard. it's like the whole song turns on a dime when the dragged bass chords appear at 3:07 and proceeds to go to an even zanier and more deranged place than before.
Show up 3 hours before they open or go home. This song is more relevant in 2020. Took me 3 attempts to get in the DMV got in line at 5 am & had 20 people already ahead of me. Went home at 11 am. Anyone arriving after 6 am was sent home when they reached their max check in for the day about 9 am.
We don't have DMV's in the UK but I can relate, it's like having to sacrifice your lunch hour to sort something out at the bank, I had to do that yesterday.
GranDaddy Purple OG is exactly what I need, perhaps you may know vaguely what I mean....Sat back & smoked away huge chunks of memory as I slowly inflict upon myself a full LOBOTOMY
Dude, I didn't know about the sucks thing until a few years ago. Primus was playing at the Cuthbert in Eugene and I couldn't figure out why these people waiting outside the amphitheater were screaming "PRIMUS SUCKS." Then I ran across it a few days later on the internet and I was like, "Ohhhh." And I'd been listening to their albums since the late nineties. Mind you, I tend to be one of the last people to know anything. That's my job.
The last time I went to the DMV was during the covid pandemic for renewal of my license. They refused to let me in the building without a mask, then refused to take my photo until I removed the mask.
...but primus is perhaps the best music when absolutely tripping balls...speaking from experience, this song plus between an 1/8 and a 1/4 of shrooms=awesome!
You know how rapturous religious people get at the front of a gospel worship concert? My body, too, loses it’s discretion while listening to primus. I look like a fucking idiot but Idc. I bob and jump around and fuckin move my arms and it’s like someone else is doing it. This shit is powerful.
This is the one band that everyone was hollerin about back in the 90's and I never took the time to check them. My loss. They suck. The next person who complains about Motor Vehicles wil be getting this video. So wild how this sound has stood the test of time.
When I first got my driver's 'license, this song was running through my head when they took my picture. That's why I have a goofy, partial troll smile in my license picture.
New stuff is pretty good in my opinion. Some of it is a little worse but, then you get those songs like Supremacy, Panic Station, United States of Eurasia, which are fantastic
Why are there only ever 2 people working at these fuckin places? Forget an hour and fifteen, more like 5 hours and fifteen. I didnt even get to do my test. Fuck
I went to DMV this morning, to get a li'l "22" sticker for my tags... They turned me away because I didn't have an _appointment._ Since when do you need to make an appointment to wait in line all day? The fuck? Their website don't say nuthin about it neither. Fuckin fuck.
The primus sucks jokes are always funny and never get old. I really hope people keep making the joke throughout all eternity.

Some killer riffs
The award for the most killer, electric bassline in a rock song goes to Les Claypool's riff in "DMV."
Hands down my fave primus song. Showcases everything unique about the band!
I think all the Primus albums are brilliant but Pork Soda is just one funky record. I keep all the CDs in my car and it's made for some interesting first dates.
Danny Cespedes IMO Frizzle Fry is the most funky primus album
Primus has scared away a couple chicks for me lol they must have been awesome
@really dude it was a joke primus sucks!
Weirdly enough I took two girls (willingly) to a Primus show several years ago. It was a surreal experience.
I would have thought you where going to kill me
Someone should play this song at high volume in a crowded DMV and film the reactions.
Ay I’m almost old enough to get my drivers license (I’m 14 and a half) and when I do I will blast this

Personal favorite. The song is great, but that ending just hits so different.
DMV and Bob... Same bass line, two different time signatures. Dig it.
It’s also very similar to Jerry Was A Racecar Driver. Similar melody but different notes

Funny, I was at the DMV the other day, and I couldn't stop thinking of this song.
