I live in Newport , and often take my two Romanian rescue dogs there .
It's great when the tide is way out .
I usually stop , once I reach the pub by Puckpool park , and rest on the bench overlooking the sea , though I have carried on along the stony beach to SeaView , before returning to Ryde .

I spent childhood holidays in Ryde in the 1950s. My father took my little sister and me out on the canoe lake in a rowing boat, of which there was a large number. He wanted a narrower one, but the attendant said they were all the same. My father lost his temper and shouted at him, and when we were finally underway, the experience was too upsetting to be enjoyable! What he had shouted included 'Cor, love a duck!' so it is very appropriate that the lake is now inhabited by the same...
