Even saajid and Farid are not experts in everything. Btw shabir is way way beyond David wood. Let's be honest. Saajid and Farid wouldn't last one min against a Christian apologist worth his salt in a debate. Shabir has defended the deen on the biggest stages against THE best christian apologists. I hear where Farid is coming from, it's a valid and sobering voice but I do also hear many generalisations from Farid, he hasn't even watched many of shabir debates. I recommend he does.

The Holy Quran says it's better to forgive than to punish. So if there's an alternative to chopping off someone's hand, and that deterrent is more than 95% effective, then what's wrong with implementing that deterrent? As technology advances, and replacing a human hand with a bionic one, becomes accessible and affordable to the masses, then chopping off a hand as a punishment will lose its effectiveness in terms of a deterrent. But stoning is not actually mentioned in the Quran? Stoning was back then a normal and accepted practice for dealing with adulterers and they continued that practice, doesnt necessarily make it Divine decree that stoning is a MUST. It doesn't seem God's way to interfere with cultures and norms without strict reason. For instance, polygamy was a normal practice in those times. To deal with the issue of men marrying orphans and dealing them a bad hand, the Quran instructed these men to instead marry amongst free women although restricting the number and putting the condition of equal treatment. This doesnt necessarily mean that as times change, cultures change, and socio-economic dynamics change, that polygamy cant be outlawed in societies as they see fit. It seems less of a Divine right given to men and more of God addressing the issue of marrying orphans for unjust reasons by telling these men what the better option was. God's way seems to be operating within their cultural/ societal norms only explicitly forbidding what is inherently harmful or immoral. Stoning isnt inherently bad bc ppl in past societies obviously did it with it being the opposite of socially disruptive and they didnt see it as barbaric. If revelations continued, I believe we'd see a prophet today jail adulterers rather than the stone bc it IS societal disruptive today and we have a cultural lens that tells us it's barbaric. Dr. Shabir Ally denies stoning is Shariah bc it shouldn't be a part of absolute religious law.

Thinking is a dynamic process, hence why in his newer videos, he's talking a bit differently about certain things, you've shown in these video now like his views on Black Magic. Dr. Shabir Ally doesn't preach made up information/pure opinion like Abu Layth in an ordering manner. Dr. Zakir Naik is very much appreciated in our community, but that's also the one thing I don't like about him. He isn't sometimes truthful about topics he is unsure about, but rather preaches one command as if he was 100% sure about it, just to change his view a couple years later. I would much rather have a scholar that shares his thoughts about uncertain topics and who makes it clear that these are only his thoughts. Plus many things you're criticizing like the punishments mentioned in Ahadith for apostasy for instance are debated things among scholars nevertheless, since the Qur'an for instance says that people may leave and join Islam and repeat that when they want to and some Hadith even say that stoning was abrogated. I quite honestly don't enjoy the direction you're going to with your channel, it started off as an informative channel, where you corrected other people that were spreading false information in a kind manner and about Islamic history, but now it's become more and more a platform for the sole purpose of criticizing people and approaching them with prejudice. This also shows itself in the ignorant comments that now get like hundreds of likes and upvotes under your recent comments. May Allah (s.w.t.) guide us to the right path.

And I'm sufficiently conservative in my views regarding Islam but this trend of refutation culture is becoming ugly now. I'm sick and tired of it. People should themselves be able to see where a scholar or any person sliped regarding Deen. These casual discussions with no academic values are becoming a cancer on Ummah. Instead of pointing out mistakes in a person why not educate Muslims about right things, how to approach religious knowledge, how to judge.

@@human0_0skull everything you said is debatable. In life many people either choose superstition and stories or reason. The prophet may have been illiterate however, he had revelation directly given to him thus, being taught directly by God. Whenever you follow any Muslim opinion, hadith or interpretation, you are following someone's interpretation of what they saw/heard/understood. Having a PhD is one step closer to being someone whose looked at most of the information out there on the topic they've studied and grappled with it to come to an opinion based on evidence they've gathered and that's many steps closer than a person whose just regurgitating the 'mainstream' most funded opinion in their region which they've done so much mental acrobatics to barely convince themselves of let alone, anyone with. Shred of critical thinking skills.

Farid was educated at an Islamic university whereas Shabir Ally was not. Even the young can correct the old when it comes to the deen, especially if the old is spreading wrong information:
      Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sent troops appointed Usama bin Zaid as their commander. The people criticized his leadership. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) got up and said, "If you (people) are criticizing his (i.e. Usama's) leadership you used to criticize the leadership of his father before. By Allah, he (i.e. Zaid) deserved the leadership indeed, and he used to be one of the most beloved persons to me, and now this (i.e. his son, Usama) is one of the most beloved persons to me after him."

Quranic Teachings about Satan and about Morality
Some claim that the Quran was the work of the devil.[1] Let us examine how much sense (or non-sense) this allegation makes.
If he authored or inspired the Quran, why would Satan curse himself and call himself the worst enemy of man (Q.35:6; 36:60)? Why would Satan command that before reciting the Quran, one must first say:
“…I seek refuge in God from Satan the accursed.” (Quran 16:98)
How could Satan so vehemently condemn himself? Is it really acceptable to common sense to hold the view that Satan would ask people to do good, to be moral and virtuous, to worship none but God, to not follow Satan or his whispers, and to avoid and struggle against evil?
To hold such a view is clearly repugnant to reason, as Satan has only undermined himself through this means if he is the author. Even the Bible attests:
“And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end.” (Mark 3:26)[2]
This argument applies to any “Satanic forces”, be they “evil spirits”, “deceitful aliens”, etc

To be fair, there's something called the letter of the law and the spirit of the law in fiqh, so each law has a specific intention that's meant to have a specific effect, if that effect stops working, there's no point in applying that law, so when sheikh shabir ally says he doesn't think stoning should be applied, its because the effect of that law will not work on modern people due to how soft they are. Stoning is there as an expiation and prevention for adultery, modern people who aren't used to these harsh laws and are used to committing zina will find this really hard to accept and it might even turn away some people from Islam (which it does) therefore it's part of wisdom and mercy to not apply such a harsh law to a soft and relaxed people. This method is extracted from how the Qur'an was revealed, Allah first gave warning for alcohol, then He prohibited it during certain times and then He sent down a verse comepletely making alcohol haram, likewise we need a similar methldology to the people. You need to be flexible, fiqh changes with the people and time. Islam is about ease and Allah loves ease.
Both saajid and farid are salafis meaning they follow the hanbali methodology (following the literal meaning of the text) this is a valid methodology but its not right to impose this methodology as the ONLY way to interpret Islam like most salafis (unintentionally) do. Islam is about being deeper, Allah praises the men of understanding but its sad how the salafi/hanbali methodology has influenced people and thus have made the masses into extremists in religion.
