@@stanzacosmi It's because of the 7th gen consoles being severely underpower. Frontiers had no excuse having bad draw distance with these modern consoles.
Besides the destructable objects (which we know probably wouldn't be great), I wonder if Sonic Unleashed could've ran on the Wii U if optimized decently.
You'll be happy to learn that someone ported all the day stages to Generations. You can download it and play if you own Sonic Generations, and it's a ton of fun.
but it's pre-rendered ray tracing. not real-time like you'd see in newer games. they are different and real-time raytracing can change in the game seamlessly while thats not possible in the era of ps3/xbox 360
Adding on to what mitchelgatzke said, the game uses light probes (this technique goes by many other different names) to create real-time lighting for Sonic and other in-game objects.
@@Abykitty06 Sonic Unleashed laid the groundwork for Forces given that Sonic Team spent three years upgrading the hedgehog engine. Also Sonic Unleashed isn't as good as people claim given the graphical pop-in of Sonic Frontiers.

I still think unleashed is the best looking sonic game something about it looks appealing

It's something with the global illumination and lighting and color balance, it looks very realistic and has a cartoony pop style to it as well.

every console game works on pc. there's no bombshell revelation here, there's a pc version for literally every console game.
Goes to show just how much work went into making sonic unleashed and too this day its still the best sonic game.
