- The University of Pretoria (TUKS) Camerata performs 'Even When He is Silent', a setting by Kim Arnesen, during the Semi-Final of the Varsity Sing University Choir Competition in South Africa.
Conductor: Michael Barrett
The lyrics of the piece were found on the wall of a death chamber at the Auschwitz Concentration Camp, where an anonymous individual with tremendous faith wrote, before going to his or her eventual death:
"I believe in the sun, even when it's not shining.
I believe in Love, even when I feel it not.
I believe in God, even when he is silent."

I like it better when the tempo is slower, but the visual with the shoes was amazing

This music is touching and moving......the clapping destroys it.

nice words Sir I'm a fan of your music
Jouh koor sy sound neh👌👏
Lovely song and sung to perfection.
What are the shoes for?
I heard there is a place by the Rhine River where many Jews were lined up and shot in the back by the Nazis...only their shoes remained on the shore. There is a memorial where it happened.
The song itself is an adaptation of a poem found on the walls of a concentration camp. Together, with the shoes, they pay homage to the holocaust and those who suffered under it.
Well done
Sure. Let's get the black girl to donate her shoes :")
