You should DEFINITELY bore us with the details. It would be amazing if you did time lapse videos (with occasional real time where you explain something) with just a fixed shot.
so long as you know the model & serial number, you can look up the date of manufacture at typewriterdatabase.com/ Note: there are two drop down boxes where you can put in the name of your brand - make sure to use the ‘serial number’ box, not the ‘photo galleries’ box
holler at me on IG or FB, and we can figure it out. It’s definitely worth checking to see if there is a local shop, though, as shipping a typewriter is both expensive & risky. A list of repair shops (which i am on, incidentally, in the Texas section) can be found at site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/tw-repair.html
Hi, I have watched many of your videos and I love how detailed you get in your explainations. I have just one quesion. Have you done a video explaining how to get the feed rollers out of a Remington 5? I just found one in amazing shape but the front rollers are flat and I am unsure as to how to remove them. Thanks.
they are available on eBay, you just have to look in the right place ;) www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Remington-Remi-Scout-Portable-Typewriter-Ribbon-on-Twin-Metal-Spools-/251282257333?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0
the 5 uses the same spools as all the earlier ‘Portable’ style remingtons, including the Scout & the 3B - i’m pretty sure the spools are more uncommon than the machines!
That one is beautiful! I have a deluxe and for some reason, the carriage doesnt move when I hit the letters, but moves with the self starter. Do you have any idea of what could be?
Hello, a bit off topic here but I recently bought a Olivetti pluma 22 about two or three months ago and had just started noticing that the ink is fading when I type. They added a new ink spool when they shipped it to me but I can’t seem to figure out the issue. I tried moving the little levers on the side back and forth and seems to type fine but goes back to fading after a couple of typed words. the spools and everything seems intact. I tried reaching out to them but I can’t seem to get help anywhere. So just wondering is this is a common issue and if you can kindly give me any type of advice if you have experienced this before. It would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏼
regardless if the reason, it shouldn’t be doing that - perhaps you just got a bad ribbon, but this is an Olivetti 22, so there are a few mechanical things we should check before getting a new ribbon. Is the ribbon consistently winding from one spool to the other? it should pretty much always be in motion, reversing direction when at ends, and there should be a small eyelet on each end of the ribbon to trigger the reversal mechanism; check to make sure the ribbon isn’t stuck trying to reverse itself, as the eyelets can hang up at the trigger point. is the ribbon threaded properly in the vibrator? Are the keys striking the page properly? Are you using a backing sheet? If you can’t figure it out, feel free to send me an email, typewriterjustice@gmail.com
Very pretty! Your work is just plaine fantastic!
Beautiful machine! Just got a royal dart a couple weeks ago!

Beautiful piece of Art Deco Americana right there.
Sweet machine Justice!!!
Boring us with the details would actually be great, a class I'd sit through
Do you happen to date typewriters? I just purchased one from a very kind 80 year old woman who purchased it used when she was 16.

@@TypewriterJustice Thanks so much!
I have one of these but there are no spools! Every ink replacement spool I find online can only tell me "WON'T fit Remington 5". 😭 Can anybody help?

What is the size of the hose you used for the feet rollers!?

@@TypewriterJustice for this Remington Model 5!? I have the same typewriter I'm trying to change the feed rollers.
Wow it looks amazing!!!
