I wonder how American parliamentarians and presidents would stand up to this kind of parliamentary cross examination
The president and the Senate president (vice president) essentially have no say in American congress
Two completely different forms of govt.
Not even close to one another
The president actually has power in our legislature because he can veto anything he wants. Laws require a simple majority in both houses of Congress. If he president slaps it with s veto, it goes back to congress and requires a 2/3 super majority in both houses to override him.
Since American politics are highly partisan, the simple threat of a veto is enough to kill a bill.
There has never been a party with a supermajority in both houses.
Also if the presidents party is in control of one house, the leader of that house (for example Mitch McConnell) could simply not allow a vote on a proposed bill because he has been informed the president would veto it. He does it all the time. It’s why trump has only vetoed one thing in 2 years
Our politicians don’t answer question directly. They beat around the bush and completely change the subject by the end of their statement.
Who's still standing now, Dodgy Dave?
Not David Cameron, since he had the decency and integrity to resign when it was appropriate, unlike Jeremy Corbyn who sold out his dignity long ago and decided to stay despite numerous calls for him to quit.

+Nelson Dugluss David Cameron has proved he does not care about the poor, only his own gain, corbyn is week & no confidence at least with Nigel fararge he cares about this country+ shows a care for the poor, if fararge is a snake then what does it say about the others.
Appaently David thinks that everybody should be quitters like him.
So he should continue as PM and do something that he clearly stated before that he wouldn't do as PM! He's done nothing wrong but courage
Actually no. Cameron stated he would take us out the EU if that was the way the people voted. He broke that promise along with many others, eg. his one on immigration down to tens of thousands, "no ifs, no buts"
He failed the Remain campaign, he failed the remain faction within his party, and he failed as PM. if that isn't a good time to step down, I don't know what is.
How did he fail remain? It was a referendum and the public voted to leave, it's as simple as that. He stepped down because he felt the country deserved a brexit prime minister, it was the right thing to do.
No it wasn't the right thing to do when he promised that whatever the result, he would stay on as PM. He lied then, and he lied many times before and during the EU referendum campaign. Cameron and Osborne are both fibbers about this issue and many others. They are disgrace to the Conservative party
The LSE published a report basically underlining Corbyn's point that people voted leave because of austerity. Support for leave increased dramatically in poorer areas that had been hit hardest by austerity from 2010-2016
Because material conditions upsets people and makes them rowdy crying out for change and looking for simple answers and someone to blame, I think a certain theorist in the 1800s wrote this down somewhere...
Have you ever wondered why the people who were hit hardest by austerity measures ended up voting for Brexit? One popular idea is that Nigel Farage, the charismatic populist leader, managed to win over those who had become disillusioned with both Labour and the modernised Tories under Blair and Cameron. These people were politically homeless and saw Farage as a champion of their traditional and cultural values, which they felt had been eroded since the 1960s. It's a complex issue, but one thing is for sure: the so-called 'left behinds' were a crucial factor in the Brexit vote. Such an interesting topic.
@@richards9750 I believe that's the case and what a lot of FBPE - hard remainers never really got.
Without austerity, we would never have got Brexit.

@@elliot7753 His party voted for him twice including myself only once. But won't do that anymore.
ElliotGaming He was actually prepared to quit, until the members of the Labour Party demanded a leadership election so that they could back him, and they did in an overwhelming number, Labour is the ONLY party where the members, like you and me decide who is the leader of our party and what our policies should be on our manifesto for government. In the Labour parties it is not the MPS who control the party, it is the voters and members of labour who control the party, and we have proved that when we twice voted for Jeremy as our leader.

Cameron has always been scared shitless of Corbyn and wants him to leave now before the next prime minister comes along and gets stepped all over by him. His calm, gentle nature is what ticks them off. They want someone as loud mouthed as them to lead Labour and be all over the headlines for stupid reasons.
Under Corbyn's leadership Labour has gone back to where it belongs, to the left. Great, and while I mostly agree with Corbyn's views and ideas, his role of leader worries me. His style is too calm, his voice too gentle, he seemingly lacks enthusiasm, more so when confronting Cameron. Labour should have been taking this under average Tory party apart over the last year...but we have seen nothing and that lack of 'going at them' has led us to this mess that we now find Labour in. Thank you Jeremy, but its now we need a new, vocal left wing leader to take us forward.
