Yes, it's been a long time since the trailer and the ensuing buzz for this film first appeared. The film exists in a rough cut stage and WILL get finished. The big hurdle has been financial. Licensing music and other source material is costly. Your patience will be rewarded.

Although a sort-lived phenomenon in rock music, the Surf Music era produced some great bands & epic sounds. Loud crashing guitar riffs, heavy driving bass lines & BIG Drums. Growing up in the So Cal beach scene of '62- '65, I remember well being a kid caught up in these great times........

Hi John, congrats on having your screening tonight at the Newport Beach film festival! I heard your interview this morning on Laguna Beach radio, very cool that Ed had you on his show, documentaries of all kinds need more airtime on the radio for sure. I hope you send a press release to NPR, morning edition, this American life and other radio programs around the country. This is good stuff, looking forward to seeing your film on the Festival circuit!

Inland Empire bands were a major part of the Surf Music culture, and so were venues in that region. I hope this was included in the documentary.

KMEN was credited as one of the radio stations that debuted Surf Bands records on the air, including Dick Dale. Surf is a truly magnificent American genre. Its influence is more far-ranging than most people think, even surf fans. No less than Keith Moon was a huge surf fanatic, and would have quit The Who in a heartbeat had The Beach Boys asked him to join the band.

@brokenbeard1 Actually Paul Johnson's The Belairs put out "Mr. Moto" months before Dick Dale's "Let's Go Trippin'" in 1961. I think he means with bands like The Ventures and The Shadows, the point where surf actually started is hard to pinpoint.

In 50 years someone will make a movie about how cool the 2010's were, you are living now why not not make the best of it. There was plenty of screwed up people back then too, the 60's were great if you were white and rich let me tell you. Try to find the movie "American Graffiti", it will give you a cool 1950's time warp.

No one will ever make a movie about the cool 2010s. They just weren’t. Kids today are so starved for authentic experience they’re nostalgic for the goddamned 90s ffs!
