    You should have weep hole covers also. Many older motorhomes lose them going down the road or over time degrade and fall out. They also help stop the whistling or windnoise you might be hearing up at cab area. On the outside use 303 seal lube to keep outside seals from drying out preventing the rubber seal from pulling out of window. Those already dried out can be stretched after using 303. A hair dryer can help to stretch the seal along with 303. Wasps like to get under seals crawling through weep holes or where seals have dried and pulling away from windows. Wasps lay their larvae and pull in dead grass that looks like straw. If you pull the outside seal out of window (take a cell phone pic so you know how to reinstall seal) you will see the larvae, dead spiders the wasp pulled in and grass. Clean the channel out, coat it with 303, coat the seal. You might be able to manipulate or massage the seal back in shape that it covers the entire channel. If not try stretching or using hair dryer. If you can't buy another seal. Coat all your outside window seals to prevent drying and shrinking. The seal should go all the way around the channel. If any gap it isn't right so try stretching or buy brand new seal.

    This was a great video. Helped me to figure out the problem and where to clean the weep holes. I used a small bendable straw brush. Had a pack a various sizes on hand. Was about a 10 inch brush perfect length and diameter. went right in and pulled out some nasty mud and black grime. Flushed with water from the window track and now flows out the weep hole. will be making this part of my routine maintenance now. Thank you so much.

    This is SO valuable...weep holes...who'd have thunk? Here in Oregon moss is a big culprit every year, pine needles every storm, mixed with dust of road travels and window channels are clogged! Much like what we have to do with gutters...clean out frequently to keep the rain running AWAY. Thanks again for your excellent info.

    Excellent demonstration and I appreciate the low key delivery. Like I’m visiting with a neighbor while he’s doing a little fixit job. Just getting into fixing up my parents 1996 Chinook and there’s plenty of deferred maintenance. Noticed the water seepage in my last visit. Windows will need a thorough cleaning. I suspect the seals are dried up too but the weepholes had dirt and even moss on the north side. Subscribed!

    Cleaned the seals i actually took them out washed them thoughtly and cleaned a very dirty channel out with the weep holes i will get some of that compressed air. I put everything back in place and put the hose over the end i had the leak, little to no leaking, then i put it over the other side of the window no water. Then I gave the window a torrential thunder storm with the hose and no leaking. To be safe i have put up over the windows that wind in and out a trampoline over it and tied it down so that if there was any heavy rain overnight it would not leak. The Cottage from Cedar Creek roof is one casing was told just eliminating. Would you ever pull out the window reseal it and put it back in? Was told not to do this.

    • @TheWillfulWanderer

    • @TheWillfulWanderer
      @TheWillfulWanderer  8 лет назад

      Hey Debbie,
      If the seal is an inch short I'd definitely replace it, it's easy to do. The seals do shrink with age but a inch short sounds like a bad replacement job. I cut mine a little longer than needed by putting in in the groove, marking and cutting a little long, then after that initial cut trim it down to fit snug. I'd also give the weep holes a good cleaning as well.
