What Camerons Car Reviews has to say: For 1999 the sporty luxurious 3 Series gets redesigned and has upgraded into a car that almost anyone should like. Inside you will find very a very great interior with very ergonomically placed controls faced towards the driver and great interior materials with everything feeling well put together. Power comes from a 2.5 L or 2.8 L inline 6 cylinder through a 5-Speed Manual or Automatic which is very modern considering that most cars have 4-Speed Autos. Room however is the only downside that is in the 3 Series. But really are you trying to haul a family around in it? Buy a Camry or an Accord for that kind of utility. All in all great car from BMW. - Авто/Мото
The center armrest/console was part of the Premium Package until 2003 when it was made standard on sedans. BMW offered leather as an option on US cars, but the standard seat covering (as on this car) is vinyl. Xenon headlights were indeed an option in 1999, but Bi-Xenon were not available until later.
i bought a 2000 323i for 7 grand. a couple grand of repairs, but i friggin love the thing. good on gas, pretty peppy. would recommend
0_0 goodness... i hope it didn't have many miles on it...
What did you repair, did you do the repairs yourself?
That’s too much
Yeah that seems like a lot. I found one for $1500 which sounds about right
I found one for 1400 with overheating issues
The first gen automatic transmission in the E46 was a 4 speed, the steptronic's model were 5 speed.
Bought my 1999 323i for $500, computer guy, young, my neighbor, been sitting for months, stopped by one day just to ck on it, he said he had enough with it, would not crank, if it did it would die, rims were worth that, paid 5 $100.00 bills and said I would be back the next day to get it, it cranked and drove it 100 yds back to my house, you tubed some things, pulled the air intake valve off, stopped up completely, $3.50 can of carb cleaner, 4 hrs of work and have been driving it since, powder coated the rims, new tires, led headlamps, window motors and regulaters thru out, stereo' tinted windows, struts and complete brakes up front, gas struts in the back, roof racks on top, beautiful car and get so many compliments, right around $3100 tied up in it, probably not worth that much more but find myself looking at nothing but an upgrade to an M series, but this is a keeper, love it!!!!
Proud 2nd owner of 99 323i with 8oooo on the clock still running smooth like new 2O2O. 6oo british pounds I paid uncle ripped him off on good deal. Better than ford mondeo
Genuine question but how reliable are they? I’m looking to get one and just want to know more
i have the 323ti hatchback e36. You gotta love those 2.5 l engines
Anyone notice the gas gauge?
I just got a 328i 2000 from my friend incredible
This was my first BMW, but my was a manual 5 speed.
imma get 323i 2.5l m52tu one with 100% original milage(153k miles),extremely well preserved enterior and exterior,m steering wheel from old e46 m3,looks as new, sporty seats with alcantara through the middle and black leather on the sides.2800euros what do u guys think ? Still accelerates as if it was new, main reason for it is the fact that its only 2nd owner and he has it since 15 years ago so its basically a car guy who maintained it perfectly.
with the arm rest and the what nots
extra storage as well and like a "hidden" compartment...
Ahahah he's trying to be like that one guy that does car reviews. Lol
Im thinking of buying the 2001 323i model, but the fact that it is 14 years old, is expensive to repair and is probably not very fuel efficient is keeping me back. What do you recommend?
I have an 01 330i and it has been very reliable. It's not great on fuel but it's not that bad either. I say go for, the e46 is a blast to drive and is worth the price!
I have the same year manual transmission and it came with armrest.
There is an arm rest I have one on my car.
I'm about to buy a 2000 323i for $1700 and other than the dent on the roof where a tree fell on it it's in good shape
Nice car but shouldn't rev a cold engine!
Till 3k Rpm isn‘t really that bad
Thanks!
Wow. They are expensive AF in the states. In got one for 250 pounds 108k miles and is my drift slag. Bmws are extremely cheap in the uk
this video is 6 years old xD
Dude. Your review sounds pretty much similar with Saabkyle. But hey, great content though!
Yes I can!
My uncle has the same one like that but gray
paid 800 for one of these bad boys, fixed the bitch up for less than a grand, one of the most fun cars ive ever driven
800 dollars?only?here in spain a good e46 330 costs near 10000 euros.this cars are so good cars. Stone engine with awesome sound.good cars.if u are looking for a 318 with 500k miles...maybe it cost 800euro..
are these cars reliable or extremely expensive to repair. i'm thinking of buying one but I don't want to buy a shit box or a car that's cost too much! if anyone could help me out that would be great
Idk if i'm too late, your best bet is to go with a 5-series, they're top end for middle class and they are built to last like a Camry with the handling of a porsche and the performance of... well a BMW lol (nothing better)
Joey Legendd No, you're not late at all! I'm still looking at cars and trying to decide which one I want to buy. Thanks for the info, it helps me out a lot!
What model was it - I don't think you mentioned it ?
Can the transmission in the 330i 2004 works in the 1999 323i ?? Please let me know asap
You are wrong, these model was produced from 1998 - 2006
Armrest and console storage was an option.
yes it is
could you please do a 1998-2002 bmw 740il review
I needa repair my sunroof. It doesn't open with just one click i have to simultaneously keep pressing the sunroof button for it to open
Love it
mine has the center console, weird...
u wrong its start 1998 i got one too
How do you like the one you own? I'm looking at a 98 with 33k miles, stick shift. Body looks great, taken care of, seats look great as would be expected.
1st gen was launched 1998, so....
2006
I just love how im getting mine for 730 because I’ve known the guy since pre-K
Sinner Sweets I’m getting mine for 500
I have a 1998 323i e46 Im guessing its 1st gen.. yet it has the 5 speed steptronic transmission 🤷♂️
Mine is also 98
I can't believe my dad got this for 2500$
Any for sale - late 90’s black interior
Idk if it's an optional thing or not
4:50 bitch it's cold
how's this as a used car buy?
Hey man, don't even think about it. It costs hell of a lot to fix. I have one and the transmission costed me 5,000 dollars to repair. I didn't repair It and now I have a 2008 Honda Civic. Go for a Honda!
haha yeah I know Bimmers are expensive to maintain and repair. But hell they are so much more fun to drive than a civic mind you. Your transmission was it an auto or a manual?
Auto. And yeah you're right they're fun to drive, especially with a manual transmission.
Boss Boy I heard the 2000 to 2002 323i have auto transmission issues and they should be avoided. Right now, I'm looking into a 1999.
I have had mine since it was brand new. People that say they are not reliable must never take care of it. 230,000 ish miles and it's still a very nice daily. it's a early model 99 323i. Most major thing I've ever had to do was change the front struts but with 200,000..... to be expected.
I'm about to buy one from a homie for 1,500 y'all are getting ripped off its an old car or I'm getting a sweet deal 😂
Ivan Carrillo lol i got one for 1,200
I got one for £400 lol
I got one for 1 dollar Lmao. Buying an used car it's better to go for more expensive and nicer condition low miles. Buying a pos will cause you thousands on repair. An clean based model one like this is more rare in a good condition compare to the M3. M3 got all the love and care from their owners, while base model 46 are cheap but 90% of people who drives them have less respect for the car.
got one for £400 w/o battery and a broken heater core. bypassed the heater core and ta da good as new, thank god the owner didnt drive it when the heater core went bad otherwise rip aluminum block
Can u do donuts w this ?
mine has 116000 miles love rich white folkes
lol BMW business CD
I love the E46, it looks good, has a comfortable interior (though don't most Beemers LOL) and they are good for new drivers or just someone who wants a good, comfortable sedan. Cameron, could you possibly find an E60 (2004-2010) 5 Series? Thanks! (:
Arm rest in my 2001 sedan 325i
Video Pic was silver....so wtf?
lol who in the right mind buys a 3 series as a sedan?
That mythical group of people who actually have friends - and thus could use a more passenger-friendly vehicle than a coupe.
Joshi The Yoshi
Who needs friends? Weight reduction bro...
+Jew Jitsu the sedans look better plus are obviously more practical
I have a sedan with only 1 old man.if u take coupe it will be done becAuse young boys destroy them.u are not correct venianim.if a sedan cost 4000 and coupe 6000 what u pref?dont be moron...sorry for my english i am basque.
7 grand for a bottom of the line BMW with no options and tons of cosmetic issues is not reasonable at all.
High mileage as well. When i looked at the cluster my 323i had 90k. I paid $2000
you're just going around pushing buttons like a child
Look, he's just showing all of the features and how they work, he's not push going around pushing buttons.
Very negative response
Its really 2.3 liters and the first 323 e46 was created at 1998
I had one and it's actually a 2.5L
PwN240 323i is 2,5l
Hernavaro Crescoba if you owned that thing, maybe you knew more
PwN240 i have a 323i e36 with same motor (m52b25)
vangestelwijnen no it's not. That's a common misconception of people who have no idea what they're talking about. The 323i has a 2.5l M52 and while the 325i also has a 2.5l engine it's an M54 which is based on the M52 but it's still a whole different motor and not a tuned down version.
Omg and you revved it while still cold. This video is unbearable.
this car is bargain basement has zero additional features
lol your review sucked. Who gives a eff about the history and its competitors? You're reviewing one car. And yeah your daddy had one. Try reviewing a car YOU actually owned and got to know from a DRIVER'S pov. Some maintenance tips and common failures would be way more useful. E46 BMW's actually never came with bi xenon from factory hence two bowls and not just the driver side wndow is automatic
