Being born and raised in Philly in the 50s and 60s where I experienced the Sounds of Acapella Street Corner Harmony on a Daily basis gave me a love for these Talented Artists. They didn't do it for money or fame. It came from within the heart & soul. It came down deep, a love of harmony and timing. Though Street corner Artists remain anonymous to this day, their music style and Harmonies still resonate in the minds of many. South Philly, West Philly, the Bronx where they say Doo Wop was Born. Brooklyn, Queens even Hells Kitchen and even 5 points. Each Big City has their own style but what bound them all together was the love and sound of pure Harmony. We will never know most of their names but their music and sound will live forever. I'm 74 have 3 kids and 4 grand kids. They all have had the influence of Doo Wop. My one son and his friends get together on a Friday or Saturday night grab a couple of beers and spend hours singing Doo Wop down in his basement. My one Grand son loves Kenny Vance's music. So the is a big YES about DOO WOP still being alive in the younger generations. LONG LIVE THE MEMORIES OF THE STREET CORNER SOUND and Guys who Sang with all their Heart & Soul. ✌️🤙

I remember when Tom and Joe introduced the Persuasions on their show, the Time Capsule Show, I went out and bought their first album. Then I bought the other LPs when they were released. In my record collection, I never looked for 45s, only LPs from this great acapella group.

RIP Mr. Lawson. A real musical talent. You, as well as singers, song-writers & musicians like you, are a reminder there is a lot of gifted & entertaining musical talent on this planet that is all too often not recognized publicly enough. THANK YOU & God rest your soul👏🙏.

I saw them in about '75 at the Walnut Street Cafe in Philly. They invited some people from the audience to get up on stage and sing with them. I don’t know where I got the courage, but I got up there and took second tenor for one song. Everyone cheered so it couldn't have been all that bad but I just loved getting the chance to sing acapella with the fabulous Persuasions.

I have a similar memory - one of the great moments of my life! I saw them in Houston about '83 and they gave the same invitation. I didn't get up for the first song, but then gathered my courage and stepped up. Jerry said "do you know 'In The Still of the Night'?" I said yes, and he handed me the mike and I sang lead! Wow! (Before the final stanza, Jerry whispered to me "now get down on one knee!") What a class act.

We saw the Persuasions at the Bottom Line in NYC near NYU. They invited the audience on stage so my baby sister and baby brother climbed into our table, walked on the stage and sang their hearts out. Afterwards, our older sister sang on the corner with some young White guys.😂

Lucky enough to catch them when they opened for Jimmy Cliff at Constitution Hall circa 1970. Cliff was great but the Persuasions were the high point of the concert. Second to none!

Not oldies by this time in my opinion not popping anymore but not old some of those singers made the transition into that new R&B style that came along with motown then james brown funked the parties out.
