It's crazy he died in August. And his death was just announced. His own daughter didn't know he'd died, until the rest of us heard it. 😢 Very sad.

Agree, Good Times was never the same after James left. I think Amos' best role was as the adult Kunta Kinte on the Roots mini-series from the 70s. May he rest in peace.

He was a great actor. James Evans Sr. could be scary at times. Even us white folks have known, and even had, dads like him. But he loved his family, worked hard to support them, and still showed some humor. He whipped Eddie the bully not for stealing Michael's lunches, but for not studying. Killing him off was one of TV's worst shark jumps. I still wonder what his own dad was like. RIP.

I heard he died in a car wreck in Mississippi, and that was why he wasn't on the show, internet facts, I can't remember where I read this.
