There's an episode of Columbo where he does NOT get the murderer - Season 5, episode 1, Forgotten Lady. She killed her husband, but is dying of a brain tumor and doesn't remember doing it. Her actor / business partner confesses to the murder, knowing Columbo will have to arrest him, thus buying her the time she needs - to die. Also, RE: Quincy, they even hired Speed, Oscar Madison's poker buddy as the cop that he interacts with!
This is so great cuz I've seen all of these episodes. The one Ant mentions where the woman gets backhanded is a great episode, Robert Culp is the killer.
Anthony is such a funny guy. I love his Columbo impression. Back in a simpler time, when people had the decency to admit when they'd thrown an actress off a boat if Peter Falk pestered them enough with hits indecisive trenchcoat routine. Speaking of which, did Robert Wagner ever guest star?
The confession angle was the main thing in that show the closer. I’d say it makes for a thin premise and predictable plots, but the target demo (my mom and other women of that age) didn’t seem to mind.
Murder She Wrote did the same thing each episode, never made any sense. She barely had a case against any of them and they just confessed for no reason. She wasn't even a cop, just a mystery writer, they could've gotten away scot free.
Despite the show showing the murder and the murderer... Stuttering John can never figure out who the killer is or how people who watch the show with him are able to figure it out.
Columbo always dealt with fancy, wealthy murderers. Never the type to most likely kill someone. Also, I think Robert Culp was in like 4 episodes of Columbo of what I’ve seen. Honorable mention of the horrendous off-shoot show where Columbo’s wife was a detective. Seems that TV has always been garbage.
oh what fun, fantasizing about Columbo in the 21st century. Incidentally, there can be no connection made between ruined wine and a corpse. That episode was bullshit, though it is my favorite, too
And only bots stick up for Dave. No human being could possibly like that guy or have laughed at anything hes ever said. Hes a lazy limp voice, broken record
The answer is simple: lazy TV writers. They used old detective story tropes (confession over dinner or a chat) but never updated the circumstances for post Miranda USA. Columbo sounds like a knock off Poirot
This is the Anthony I love! Not the guy who sits there and defends Alex Jones for putting the parents of murdered children through hell for five years.
you have to understand these children are being sacrificed to criminalize guns in general. it's a tactic to make guns bad for the people and not for the occupying tyrants. you can't be that simple
@@grundian I’m not sure what you mean by “Jones said that“? Are you looking for some kind of quote where he says “ I deliberately maintained a false narrative for several years past the point where I knew it was false”? Yeah, you’re probably not gonna find that, because that’s why there was a trial, and a culmination of evidence, that clearly showed he was doing just that.

Watching Columbo is when I realized William Shatner must be a vampire.
Shatner is 92 & still with it, while Biden is 80…

The most disappointing moment in Columbo is when they modernized it. Changed the film resolution and brightened it up.
Right, there was a much later one from the 90s with Patrick McGoohan retuning as the bad guy. It was fine but not as great as the old days.
Yeah, there is one with Little Richard
