  • I got the opportunity to go to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas last week. There was tons of up-and-coming tech, but what stood out to me most was all the Artificially Intelligent (AI) tech. Based on what I saw, I believe AI-generated videos will dominate RUclips and replace RUclipsrs like myself in the next 10 years.
Here are a couple other videos of mine you may like

It always seemed to me like an unfortunate name for a product: Jackery. That was what they called the freshman men's dorm at the university I went to!

I found out at this event that Jackery was short for jacket battery. Unfortunately the market got flooded and they quit making those types of smaller charge packs.

Based on the thumbnail, I came to this video to say, no people will always want genuine content on you tube, but after listening to your point of view, I sadly think your are correct regarding the future of AI content consumption because it will be forced upon us.

I appreciate you taking on this topic. I run into voice AI youtubes quite often. At this time it is still relatively easy to be tipped off by ghost voice inflecrions, inappropriate pauses most likely caused by language translation as well. I always call it out, and thumbs down those channels. To me the biggest danger of AI will be the misreprentation of facts and truth. When you're in a collision, that is clearly the other persons fault, then their insurance company presents AI "dash cam" footage that changes what happened in the accident. When a murderer AI's footage of someone else at the scene of the crime. Or God forbit a corrupt government makes AI footage of someone committing a crime that never happened...

It’s called the endless death scroll!!! LOL Yes, AI is going to be crazy and dangerous. But I love how Elon Musk is already developing counter or anti-AI software, genius.
I think people are going to still want to see the real thing, the real person. Well I am sure if you don’t use it, many RUclipsrs are using AI for titles, content ideas, algorithms, etc. Looking forward to their house model. Yes, RUclips helps me do a lot of stuff I don’t know!! For sure.. Great video Jason…

I'm not too worried about AI generated content.
RUclips is essentially already mostly fake with the large amounts of sponsored content.
People are just getting replaced by machines. Same as it always has been.
Not a dig at you by any means but just the platforms as a whole.

Excellent video as always. Your most salient point to me is that user acceptance will meet AI capabilities, then it's over for that particular human skillset. Think grocery store checkout on a much grander scale. Love it or hate it, there's only one way outta the store... My wife is a long time voice actor and audiobook narrator. It's already game over, over there.

    Jason -
    1. Ten years before generative AI content floods social media? Nope; two. It’s seriously evolving that fast. The floodgates will open when the right workflow tool pops onto the scene that does everything reasonably well and pulls it all together with a neat digital bow.
    2. Thank you for taking the time for the photo/video equipment review. It was insightful. (Former ancient D3100 user here)
    3. I hope, at least, you got to experience some great restaurants! 🙂

I think the sad thing is a majority of people can't tell when something has been 'photoshopped' much less AI, which makes it really easy to lie to people. There's already been content produced that is total BS and made so realistic that a majority believes it. Of course we know that facts don't matter anymore, only the opinion of the majority. It amazes me how the voice and image of public figures can be made to say things they NEVER said, and never would say. This is particularly dangerous in politics. The general public has no idea what to believe anymore, even fact checkers are liars and biased.

I enjoy the integrity of the creators on YT. When I view one who I deceptive I can move on to one who is. Be it auto repair or construction or even current events. I will listen to translated video, but never to a commercial generated voice or images. If that makes any sense. Last movies I saw was Jerasic Park, took nephew and son to see at drive in, and pulp fiction. Too much CGI now.
Of course to qualify myself, we had 3 TV stations and they went off at midnight and phones were party lines.
If folks think computer answering machines are personal...well, I think we lost something very tangible.

AI will never replace the human emotion / element. Plus, why do I want to sit in a room behind a screen, more than I do now. It's the experience of getting out there; showing our senses struggles, joy, etc. AI and virtual reality will just turn us into a bunch of dull drones that don't know how to interact socially; or worse - what if the grid goes down. Only a human can teach how to live without electricity, pipes in heat, how to hunt food, etc.

  • @drott150

There will always be a market and demand for authentic human content. In art, movies and social media production. AI's "benefits" and capabilities are overblown. The only way an AI creator will become more successful than an authentic human creator is if they manage to develop an interesting and entertaining storyline combined with AI generated characters that are capable of good acting and authentic emotions on screen. Based on what I currently see and have seen for many years in state-of-the-art video game graphics and story presentation, this is still way off. Maybe it will happen eventually, but it's farther out than 10 years. And it will still require a human to provide original input, steerage and editing to produce a finished product that people want to watch.
Speaking for myself, I will never, ever watch an AI conjured vanlifer do anything. I want the human connection and I want authentic information about what it takes for an actual human to live and function in a van in the real world. If some youtuber creates an AI generated character "vanlifing" it will be filled with misleading and fake information, just like AI does today for many internet searches or articles it writes based on aggregated data and programmed censorship parameters that have been built into it. It provides preposterous information so often as to be easily identifiable and of low quality. The demise of humanity in content creation is overhyped, mainly for the purpose of pumping up another dot com era bubble for AI stocks.

The kids who are hungering for shorts, reels and tik-tokk content, will absolutely love the ai-future. They will aldo suffer a mentally challenging life, as it is already proven to be quite the hurt to our minds. But ai is good for taking shortcuts when actually creating quality content for utube, and working as an assistant inside our cameras, giving us options we didn't know we wanted when making, or editing, or watching interactive videos. Ces was this Year mirroring the state of the world I think. A bit "meh"

I get all of my content from YT. Haven't watch broadcast, cable or satellite TV in over 20 years. The few occasions when I watch traditional media I am turned off by the fictional and manufactured content. Watching YT creators is my definition of Reality TV. It is real and cannot be faked. YT creators who are not authentic to their audience don't last long. AI generated YT content might get an audience but in my opinion folks will stick with authentic YT creators who create compelling content and can tell a story.

Hey Jason, nice video. If AI did come to the point where people could generate videos for different genre of RUclips videos then RUclips would be flooded with videos, and I think people would end up losing interest in it do to the fact that it is not real. Personally, what draws me to a lot of videos is the personal experiences of the RUclipsr such as yourself, those experiences cannot be duplicated in someone's living room.

I will not be watching this AI content. It is a lie, by that I mean that none of this content won't mean anything. What Jason does is real and hard work which is very important to me personally. Computers don't have a soul and never will, that is what's required to tell a compelling story. If it does take over, I think it will be many years form now.

I think this will be true for people that are empty, fake, but not for the people of all ages that are true to themselves and others.
If someone is valued only what is on the surface, how it looks, but not on/what's inside, good quality content, like value truth over looks, then...

Jason, AI isn't here to replace you as an artist. People will always crave art created by humans. What AI offers is like having an assistant or a production team. It can help with initial ideas, organize travel, manage tools, and more. This means you get more time to focus on creating art. Consider how your CNC skills have evolved. Embracing AI can similarly enhance your artistic process. The key is to see AI as a tool that complements, not replaces, your talents.

AI should make your life easier, not eliminate your life. You still need to be Jason outdoors, and you need content. But I bet the AI could learn how to put a video together in many different ways so you pick one and tweak it to make it yours. More time by the fire, less on the laptop.

I agree with your assessment of AI.
As a long time film nerd, I’ve always told friends that Hollywood can make anything look like anything.
Nowadays, with AI, that technical capability is in the hands of casual users.
      It’s a brave new world we’re entering.
I still favor the analogue, hands-on, down to earth technology and sensibility that you and many other RUclipsrs represent.
      Wishing you well.

There’s something about human connection. Knowing that the image is generated just ruins it for me. When I’m on a long shift and want an escape this kind of real content is what I want to see. I can’t do a lot of the stuff I did before I got COVID and at least, for now (I’m starting a treatment program to finally kill this crap…I hope 🤞) this is how I can escape a bit more. I am old school, so I agree…the ones that grow up with this will grip it and run. I think that’s sad, but that’s me. Cool video as usual, I’m always more partial to the camping videos 😁 but pretty cool tech. I agree with the Jackery assessment. They should definitely include all that. I feel they’re kind of the Apple of power stations, being so proprietary, but they are a good product
