Happy New Year. It was still a great effort building that greenhouse. Gardening is a constant learning experience and we love it. The heat escaping would also cause your electric bill to be really high. No worries my dear. We learn and move on. ❤
Sorry for your gardening experience, but I have learnt something new. We all make mistakes throughout our journey..Nice plants..Cheers! 9:23 ❤ Happy Holidays ❤️
I think you can make your diy greenhouse work for you, just need to close as many gaps as possible. You could add some plywood or foam board insulation to the back wall and it would likely help some. The basic construction of your greenhouse is not much different than the greenhouse Stan Mckenzie built for some of his in-ground trees.
Sorry about the citrus. Hopefully they will recover. I know Vevor have greenhouses and it’s very inexpensive. Even for a very large one. You just have to make to where it can withstand high winds. Make adjustments and make it stronger. Just put it in a sunny spot and those greenhouse gets hot. Also, I would get a white colored plastic over the green because I think it will be brighter inside. More light for the plants. In the summer you can cool it off with shade tarp.
Oh no! I'm sorry your homemade greenhouse didn't work out right now. Don't give up on it. If you add a second layer of plastic all around it & close the gaps it may just hold the heat in better. TFS your journey. There is no one right way to protect our citrus. We just have to experiment and see what works with what we have available.
Transparency is good. And I'm glad you did not lose any of your trees. I used PVC and did a poly tunnel for my satsumas, bell peppers and I'm also going to start all my seedlings in there. I used a very heavy duty tarp and anchored it with strong metal pegs. I strung two strings of incandescence lights on each tree and keep them turned on if the temperature is below 40. When the sun begins to warm up I push back the tarp. We are retired so this is not a hassle for me. Although I relocated the satsumas to a more sunny area, they are looking great. But because they are still being re-established, I don't take any chances with them.
@@GardeningWithCoffee I'll do a video of what I've done when I sow my pepper seeds. It may be helpful to others. Don't give up on the new greenhouse. We improve as we go along.

❤ We have had bad cold wind here. Thanks for sharing.
Sorry to hear that! Good thing spring is almost here 😊
Good idea to move them to prevent possible damage. It's always a learning lesson.
Definitely ❤
