I don't think people in the comments realize how hard this must have been. Jack is an avid waterman, a big bloke and in good shape. Swimming for 1 hour against the current would probably lead most people to a point of exaustion where they wouldn't be able to keep a float. He probably swam for a much longer time.
This was surely a life changing experience, for both of you. Can't imagine how powerless Fran must have felt in the beach watching you and the boat both fade away.
    Keep safe, cheers.

@@espenforfen1334 you have no context for how they secured their boat. You really don’t know all the circumstances that lead to the boat drifting off. I wonder if your parents think how avoidable your life was?

@@It-b-Blair to be fair he's right and you proved this further by saying they didn't show how secure it was. Weather clear, there doens't seem to be much wind nor current. From someone that owns a boat fairly larger than his, trust my word on this, no way this happens if you check your location before anchoring. You should check with your mom however if they didn't drop you on the floor as a baby, to start throwing insults out of the blue lmao

Hi it’s George from rockhampton you were very lucky and so was I A similar thing happened to me out on the swain reefs about 80 miles out We were spearfishing about 35 years ago from a 30 ft yacht when I looked up and couldn’t see the yacht so I swam onto the reef stood on a rock and to my horror I saw the yacht drifting about 1 to 1;5 kms away the anchor had dragged through rubble I ditched my lead belt took a bearing off a cloud near the horizon And literally swam for my life there were no islands were we were Oh I know how you felt After what seemed like 1;5 to 2 hours I made it to the back of the yacht I was totally exhausted but I made it I tried to pull myself up but couldn’t I waited for 5 mins then with all my effort pulled myself into the yacht I layer there for another 5 mins then pulled the anchor up now I was totally fkd again and dizzy again crawled to the back of the yacht kicked the motor over and headed back to the reef where my father was standing on the same rock I spotted the yacht from You bought back a memory for me that you will never forget either From then on I went down with the anchor walked on the bottom with it and half slip knotted it around a bomie I still spearfish around the Keppels now at 56 yrs old I subscribe to your ch and Brodie’s Enjoy the rest of your adventure you can find me on Facebook under the same name

Glad you guys are ok. Reminds me of this time I was out kayaking with my girlfriend at one of the islands off of Cairns and the rudder broke. It was one of those foot peddle kayaks and we didn't have any ores, so there was no way to steer the kayak. We were just going around in circles and the wind started to pick up. The only thing I could do was strap on a set of fins we had and pull the kayak myself. It took about 3 Hrs to get back to land and what made it even worse was we landed nowhere near my car (We were just trying to get to land). So then I had to walk for ages to get my car and drive back to pick up the kayak and my girlfriend. My GF was pregnant at the time with our first daughter, the only thing going through my mind at the time was to get them back to land and to safety. I still cant sleep some nights remembering the whole situation and how stupid I was for letting it happen.

You had my experience except I got ejected off my Seadoo at a high rate of speed into extremely cold water. With the wind blowing my seadoo away from me I swam for 45 minutes to get back to my machine but I was to spent and hypothermic to get back on. I just wanted to relieve my stress after two days of funerals, one was for my Gf and the other was my really good friend. The only other boat I seen on the water that day just happened to be returning to the dock when I was trying to get back on, if it was not for him I likely would have died too. Life can really teach us who is boss sometimes! I am glad you made it, truly a scary story!

Picked up a young couple after my mate and I had done a couple of scuba dives floundering in the ocean 5 km offshore
They had been in the water for over an hour watching their JetSki disappear
They were very lucky I stumbled across them as the wind was picking up and the sunset was a couple of hours away
Finally found their JetSki 2km away doing big circles
Their lanyard wasn’t connected to his vest when they got thrown off
      Very lucky

My live aboard trailer aluminium boat lost anchor on three occasions years and months apart, in the Gulf of Carpentaria, N.T. It took me 30 minutes to catch my live aboard, in my 12 foot tinny in white capped seas. It drifted 3.5 nautical miles according to my GPS.
You would still feel gutted losing those close to you. sorry, I feel sick just reading your story.

Two questions: How do you get drinking water & how did you and Fran meet? Amazing story. This is the fourth video I've watched back to back after discovering your channel randomly. You're right. After even the first video, I was like "I wanna do this...". After this one? I still wanna do it but MAN is that a reality check. My heart was pounding as I listened. I've been there during military training where you thought you literally couldn't go on but HAD to - but that was on LAND... Truly inspiring. The message is obvious to any who listen but you'll find the perfect way to express it I've no doubt.

Minnesota guy here, I was bass fishing late fall and anchored the boat next to cattails to walk knee deep and cast for bass. Boat went deeper just a short way out. I took most of my clothes off to swim to it in the cold water not realizing the wind was taking it out toward the middle faster then I was swimming. Swam faster did catch it but really did think I might die. Love your videos, stay safe. My son just moved to Brisbane.

I am amazed.....a real wildass adventure that could have been tragic . Every time you said the boat was further away when you looked up, I was sure a boat came along a drug your ass aboard . Congrats for your stamina and resolve. What was Fran thinking before you got on the boat ? Sharks, Crocs....not my favorite at all, but no danger of that at 7000 ft above sea. Thanks for the adventures, stay Safe.
