Enjoyed your video. Thanks. My 707 is stuck on powerup. How do I do a factory reset? I pressed the button on the rear of the front panel but nothing happened.

Sorry for the late replay, I can't remember what model was of mic and I don't have the radio to hand. however; I have messaged to owner so hopefully you can get your answer. Just as a note, I do seem to remember the mic worked very well.

(I asked the question) Answer: Its the QYT mic but same as the Kenwood KMC42 use on loads of radios but the DTMF only works on the A version not the E version radio.

I have a G707 with same exact problem and I can’t get anyone to work on it. What are the chances it might be the same bad component?
    Thanks for the video.

Hi there, I am not sure if this is a common fault, however if the unit has the same issue I'd say it's most likely the same switching transistor. I would be happy to sort it out for you if you were in the UK. Hope this is of help.

I looked a little deeper and it turns out it’s pulling 5A as soon as it’s plugged into the power supply regardless if the radio is turned on, off or what band it’s on.
Thanks for the video and your response.

@@w2msa Hi Noel, as I recall the radio in the video only pulled high current on VHF and was OK on UHF. A simple thing you can do is work out where all the energy is going i.e. what is getting hot. IR cameras are very good for this.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll look into it a little deeper and see if I can identify what’s getting hot.
