  • Meet Thomas Cole, founder of the Hudson River School, America's first major art movement. This short film is a great first step for visitors who are planning a trip to the Thomas Cole National Historic Site in Catskill, New York.

Love this, simple and very informative! I actually filmed and went to Thomas Cole's final rest place just down the street from you all the other day. I can wait to check out the Historic Site too. Cheers 😉

I saw his work in the National Gallery. Though I am not into details much, I loved his majestic landscape. Whether the reality is as such, it is the subject of a different discussion. It suffices to say that he was very skillful, and had a lot of patience. I guess the notion of being an artist has changed drastically ever since the advent of photography. Though I am a modern artist, being into innovation and not duplication, I do paint landscapes on a smaller scale of grandeur. "Expromanticism founder"

He must have really upset some prominent people because I never heard of him. Thank you for blowing my mind and sharing amazing works of art and ethics with me!
