  • This video is part 2 of the Mitsubishi 4wd system, where I go a little further as to the operation of the system and how to prepare for initial diagnosis. Please watch the video if you want to familiarize yourself with this 4wd system. This system is a bit unique because it incorporates the ABS, traction control system to make the front and rear differentials act as if they had built in locker or limited slip mechanism.

    Thanks for the video and great description. Is this 4wd system different than what is in on the Montero Sport? It seems like your system has locking function, which the Montero Sport doesn't unless purchased as an optional locker.

      This system is a bit different than the Sport. The sport shifter is mechanically connected to the tcase. This system acts as if it had limited slip differentials but it's just using the active trac, abs systems to do that function.

    This is for gen 3? What years?

    • @jime.angulo4151
      @jime.angulo4151  7 месяцев назад

      Yes Gen 3, 01-06 model years, but it may apply to newer years in other parts of the world. Montero was only sold up to 06 in the US.

    One question, if you have the differential light flashing, can you engage the 4 high manually by changing the vacuum lines in the actuator? Can we bypass the computer and activate the 4 high manually? I think I have a code 33 now, and I need the car for the snow. Thanks!!

      4hi, 4hl, and 4LL happen in the transfer case. The vacuum actuator only connects and disconnects the front diff and the hubs. If your front shat is turning, then it is already in 4wd. and the front diff can be engaged manually.
