As you still have your WRX here in 2023 this comment is still relevant. This brace is one half of the tension rod system that is used on the big brother STI from examining both kits. Terrific quality from what I can see. On the STI it is a symmetrical system since it has two rods symmetrical about the centreline of the car. With just one brace for the WRX providing an eccentric tension load I am surprised it doesn't create handing issues. Too bad that the j pipe of the DIT 20 FA platform conflicts with the second tension rod being installed. I am on the fence about buying this part.
Hey what's up!! The wrx handles crazy nice. Very confidence inspiring on the road. Yeah, it's disappointing so much more is offered for the STi and I agree your concerns are legitimate. I gave STi the benefit of the doubt that they understood the engineering behind the asymmetrical design specifically for the WRX. The only conclusion I could make was the force created by the draw stiffener design was transmitted through the STi strut tower bar to the other suspension half for even dispersement. If seems very dangerous to have only one wheel gripping the road better than the other. I also believe the internal spring rating for the WRX front tensioner is higher than the STi ones since we only have one. My recommendation is to get it in conjunction with the STi flexible strut tower bar. They were designed to work together. A difference should be noticed right away on startup, the cabin will be louder and the steering will feel heavy, the car will body roll noticeably less and you'll want to drive faster lol. Let me know if you get it!! Want to hear your opinion. Thanks for watching and commenting!! This was an awesome question!!!
Awesome. How resilient to the elements is this draw stiffener? Can I run all year long, even in the winter (cold/snow/salt)? Is this only a fair-weather piece, like the weather found on a racetrack? I would hate to remove it in November and reinstall it in April every year.
Hey what's up! I don't think the FDS is made from marine grade stainless steel so it may not do well with salty road conditions. It also has rubber seals that may dry out with salt water exposure. Sorry man. It's a pretty sophisticated performance part unlike the Yamaha/TRD version that fairs well against weather but lacks in performance.
@@j168vlogs ...so it sounds like it is best to skip the STI FDS, and seek out bracing, such as from Cusco or similar to add stiffness to the front (and rear) of the vehicle. Like you mentioned, the STI stuff is designed to work with other STI parts and also carries a premium STI price. I guess I will find (better) success going outside the Subaru parts bin. Cheers.
@@K03sport That really sucks to hear bruh. I agree with going the less expensive route for your situation. IMO, the flexible STi chassis system is not very effective if you add rigid chassis bracing to the car since it limits the flex and useful range of the STi items. They may end up like the TRD/Yamaha performance dampers which are mainly used to attenuate sound. I really appreciate you watching all my videos and taking the time to understand what I was trying to figure out myself lol! I hope you end up one day getting the STi sytem put on but in the mean time enjoy your car! Cheers!
Hey what's up, nice purchase! I think it is best to take weight off the suspension. Check out the video of it being installed at a dealership in Japan: ruclips.net/video/8pOeOiIzScg/видео.html
Hey! Doing well thanks. Unfortunately it only comes with Japanese instructions but if you use Google Translate app on a smartphone you should be able to get it in the language you need. Good luck!
Hey what's up! This is the Front Draw Stiffener for 2015+ WRX, the "pair of stiffeners" you are referring to are for the STi model only. The WRX FDS only goes on the right side.
@@dancee1007 Lol, they will be in Japanese. If you order from Japan Parts.com you can request for an English manual they translate for customers. Google translate will do a good job too. Have fun!! It’s a great mod.

That’s pretty neat man, I ordered mine for my 2016 Impreza hatch, look forward to feeling the difference on the backroads and the track 🤘
Awesome bro! I hope it’s a huge wow factor after you install it like it was for me.

Can you do this install with ramps or do you need weight off the front suspension? Also do you need an alignment after this? Just got these for my STi

Hello there :)

I’m about to order these.... does it come with English install guide ?

Is this different from the pair of stiffeners that go on the front? Does it only go on one side?
