Certainly still needs more sound proofing from what I observed & heard. She's still far too loud to be sitting in there cranking along, without wearing additional hearing protection for 8 to 12+ hours at a time. Also need to update the cab with a better modern rear facing camera setup for seeing what's going on behind ya & for hitching up implements. I wonder if that old relic of a camera currently mounted at the rear, and the mini-tv, are still functional anymore? Regardless, I'm sure its picture quality is garbage. @@RoisinT2 it does have a V8... 2 of them bolted together, actually. The sound in any video wont do the symphony of that old Jimmy any justice. They actually sound REALLY good. Had the pleasure of driving a Buzzin Dozen Detroit and it was heaven on the ears.
@@RoisinT2 you had said it needs a V8. The engine is a 16V92 made by Detroit Diesel. They only made castings up to a V8. Detroit needed ways to make more power for industrial applications and cast all of their engines to bolt together into each other. The "Buzzin Dozen" I used to drive was 2-6V71's bolted together to make a 12 cyl engine. This tractor is 2-8V92's bolted together. 8=8 cyl, V=v shaped block, 92= number of cubic inches per cyl.
This is amazing. I grew up in the northeast on a hardscrable farm. We had a 13 horse John Deere to work the land. After a few decades I bought a 32 horse Massey Ferguson to take over. The power steering was a great change. I could park all my equipment in the tire rut this beast makes. That 3000 acre field pretty mind blowing since 40 acres is the most I've ever worked. It's a whole different animal out there. Amazing!!!
Great video! Thanks for making it! The biggest tractor on our farm is a 930 Case that we haven't heard run yet. We just saved it from scrap last weekend.
Yes i visited a Similar setup in 1970 , however the tug power was a D8 cat crawler pulling 80 ft of press drills or similar size Cultervators ... mmm i think the Bud Rig is far superior ... how times changed ...
Dave Crupel the reason I say that is we had a driverless orchard tractor in 1974 (Massey Fergusson). Although it was primitive by today's standards, driverless technology is advancing rapidly. Although this huge tractor is a bit of a big boy's toy, I'm sure someone in the US could make a battery version of it.
I don't know much about farming and somehow I ended up here but this beast is awesome! Glad to see this beast is out there back at work. Very cool video. 👍
When you think of torque, remember this is a 2 strike diesel. One turn of the crank, 16 power pulses. You have seen the blower (supercharger) on a dragster? BB has two just to move the exhaust out and two turbos to move the air in.
How many acres were they farming for something like that to be a viable purchase? My parents had a dairy/grain farm when I was born. Unfortunately low milk prices and rising interest rates cost us the farm. It was pigs and tobacco when I was old enough to work.

I just recently acquired a restored steiger tiger. It's rated at 5:25 horsepower. A wonderful man in Iowa sold it to me. It goes in a parade this saturday.
Honestly the sound of that thing would drive me nuts after a while.
when my boss asks me "what tractor do you want?" "the one with quietist cap."
Its been 15 years since I ran a chopper that had a Detroit Diesel in it. I still hear the roar of it in my head. You definitely don't forget that sound.
Hordboy what did you say?
If it's too loud, you're too old.
@@markwelschmeyer2426 * quietest cab
One of your best videos ever. Would be interesting to find out how much work was needed to get the tractor field ready after sitting so many years.
Great shots in the video. Thanks for taking the time to film this. Good to see these machines still in full time operation obviously well built. Wouldn't still be running if the owners didn't appreciated the value, craftsmanship and keep these well maintained. thks
It feels like I'm witnessing a real demonstration of power! These machines work so efficiently.
monsters in the field
Love seeing the old iron actually in the field tearing it up.
The drone shot starting at 3:55 was epic! Great job on this video!
just amazing footage on these mountains! AWESOME!
When the tractor was climbing i tough too myself an open shot most look awesome and boom that beautiful drone shot... .... Amazing....
@@jorgemrivera5973 LOL, your spelling is/was terrible, but I managed to figure out what you meant after re-reading your comment a couple of times.
Truly!

You need to have the guys at Welker Farms rebuild that cab for you.
That would be awesome!
Yessir
Certainly still needs more sound proofing from what I observed & heard. She's still far too loud to be sitting in there cranking along, without wearing additional hearing protection for 8 to 12+ hours at a time.
Also need to update the cab with a better modern rear facing camera setup for seeing what's going on behind ya & for hitching up implements.
I wonder if that old relic of a camera currently mounted at the rear, and the mini-tv, are still functional anymore? Regardless, I'm sure its picture quality is garbage.
I'm all for keeping things original, but sometimes certain modern updates to any machine are very needed, for the health and well-being of the operator.
@@turbodiesel4709 with modern technology all that is very possible, sound deadn the crap out of the cockpit, wear a noise cancelling headphone or something, add a monitor with a backup camera, add some sensors to a stand alone monitoring system add a modern radio and sound system, maybe redo the exhaust system somewhat to not have it right next to your ear and boom
@@rubenbraekman4515 Yes, I know. That was my whole point.
Incredible equipment and unique land feature of farming land on top of a mesa. Wow
Thank you for watching. It was a fun day in the field filming this one.
I always thought that the Oliver and MM's 4WD tractors of the late 60's and early 70's were big! Bud those Big Bud's were really ahead of their time! WOW!!!
The beat thing is this farm has an A4T 1600 and 2655. Tractors grew up in a hurry from 1970 to 1979.
@@bigtractorpower Cool! I guess that farm bought the big power, as technology came along to produce it!
Super massive tractor
Amazing video great machine
Stay safe
Have a nice day bigtractorpower
It is a monster tractor.
bigtractorpower cool
you really start to see how big this thing actually is when you see the john deere next to it.. holy cow
The new tires make that tractor even nicer.
Beautiful country , I lived in Great Falls for 2 years and loved it. Massive Tractor .
Cool ist der big bug. Lena Hadrian
Unbelievable scenery... you'd feel like you were on top of the world!
Great video! Amazing how simplistic our equipment used to be! Thanks much for sharing
Even at an acre a minute, it still takes 50-hours to do that one field...that's a BIG field!
Williams brothers probably do/used to work 10-12 hrs a day, but 50 hours for just one field, that’s exactly why they need these huge tractors, the Detroit won’t complain, it can run 24/7
I work 13 hours ah day plowing
I can't wait to see this machine on Wednesday at the Farm Progress Show
It’s an awesome tractor.
Big bud is my favorite
This is your finest video yet. Content, cinematography are fantastic!
That’s an impressive sight, It does look it needs some renovation in the cab though. Awesome video.
Should let the Welkers at it
Sight yes, but i dont like the two stroke sound that much. Makes it sound like a soving machine. It should have the sound of growling deeb v8, to make it sound as powerfull and badass as it is.
@@32degreesretarded62 Your reply makes no sense to my comment, but other that that i know many like that two stroke sound - i am not just one of them.
Love that it shares the steering wheel with a Chevy monza
That’s a Early 90’s Chevy pickup steering wheel & column.
Amazing!!!
Chisel plowing with the Big Bud 16V-747 is really an interesting experience! Thanks for sharing this video!
This tractor has more lives than a cat! Great to see it back at work! 43 years on the job! Almost as long as me!
Great video! Thanks for making it! The biggest tractor on our farm is a 930 Case that we haven't heard run yet. We just saved it from scrap last weekend.
Great tractor!
Wow, that scenery is absolutely spectacular!
It was a great filming day in the field.
Yes i visited a Similar setup in 1970 , however the tug power was a D8 cat crawler pulling 80 ft of press drills or similar size Cultervators ... mmm i think the Bud Rig is far superior ... how times changed ...
That's more hp than a Cat D11 and they're not push-over, amazing.
I love the sound of that Detroit Engine
The biggest tractor in the world still looks like a toy against Mother Nature what a great vid Jason!
Man I'd love to own land like that and have a house right it the middle ,to hear that beast just a rolling coal and eating fuel
Thanks for the ride. What horse power. A mean working machine.
The 747 is one cool tractor. Thank you for watching.
Just wow
Thank you for watching.
Can't wait to see AOC's battery version of this tractor LOL!!
Battery life: 5 seconds
It's about 5 years away and will be driver-less (and much quieter).
@@christopherfairs9095 You wish!!
@@christopherfairs9095 No it won't.
Thank you for watching. Sometimes it is like watching a canvas being painted as these big machines roll across a field.
We are hobby farmers in upstate ny, our 'big' tractor is a case 1070. Thanks for showing us horsepower!
My dad has a 970. Good tractors for their size. Very versatile
Thanks and god bless.
That 16V-92TT Detroit sounds wonderful!
WOW, That's GIANT!!!!!!!
Thank you for watching.
When you think of torque, remember this is a 2 strike diesel. One turn of the crank, 16 power pulses. You have seen the blower (supercharger) on a dragster? BB has two just to move the exhaust out and two turbos to move the air in.
Out of all your videos, I see this as the pinnacle. Thank you for this incredible video of the 747 in action!
This was a fun one to film. Thank you for watching.

That was built for my father’s friend Mike Rossi of Rossi Farms out of Old River, California. Very cool piece of machinery.

How many acres were they farming for something like that to be a viable purchase? My parents had a dairy/grain farm when I was born. Unfortunately low milk prices and rising interest rates cost us the farm. It was pigs and tobacco when I was old enough to work.
@@Parents_of_Twins Here’s a link to a pretty good article. At the time they running 10,000 acres of cotton amongst other crops.

I plant about 7000 acres of canola and wheat in Western Victoria, Australia. What we call paddocks are as big as 5000 acres and you spend literally 12 hours a day in those paddocks its lonely but in my opinion the most rewarding thing in the world.
What I remember about getting in one of these back in the '70s is that the steering wheel and column with ignition was the same as my '73 Vega. 7:25.
