I have a 1983 Philidelphia penny that weighs 3.1g... Even more interesting is that it appears to be a bronze-platimum color with a slight iridized sheen... It has stumped some serious collecters because it looks like it was iridized before the age coloring which indicates that it may have gotten stuck in the machine and subjected to alot of heat before it came out...

I have 3 1983 pennies from same mint. They all have a cud error as far as shape and size, but the cud starts on the top reverse and works its way down. Is this possible? Or did I just end up with 3 cuds pennies

I noticed the weight difference at the end of last year. I questioned it thinking they were must be counterfeit. I’m glad I kept them. You will also find weight differences in older coins as well.
If you find a 1982-D small date variety cent that weighs 3.1 grams, you have a very valuable coin. Do a little research and you can learn the difference between a large and small date 1982 cent.

I stumbled upon a penny from this year com the Delaware mint. It was suspended in a plastic souvenir case. It is in what I would think to be better condition than the one in your video that was graded so highly. I would love to send you a picture to see what tour thoughts are. Anyone?
Have a look at the penny 83 penny on the left....the e from e pleribus unum along with part of "states of" there is a noticeable low spot. I have looked at tons of 83 pennys and many of them have it in the exact same spot. I doubt that its pissible for several coins to have that exact same pattern of wear.....so is it an issue with bad stamping or what is that
Hi I have tons of error quarters. I have 3 of the same 2007 Wyoming error quarters. On the obverse the "man riding the horse" wasn't completely stamped. I looked it up on Heritage Auction site and it estimates each 1 to be worth $155-$299 each. Depending on the grade. But all 3 are in great condition!

The Official Redbook shows the copper alloy cents were minted up to 1981. In 1982 the U.S. Mint changed the cents composition to zinc alloy. Error coins resulted when later the wrong planchets were used mistakenly. I felt this information should be presented to correct the information in your video.
1982 the US Mint produced 7 versions of the Cent. using different size dates and different composition of planchet
One more error in 1982 and 1983 zinc pennies (and Uncirculated condition pulled from grocery store new roll change back then)! I have just a few of extra zinc (less polished to the average penny) plating the pennies! It is almost like a drywall spatter mud pre-finish before painting type look! Pennies are usually shiny and polished looking; but, these pennies are clearly a different finish! I keep them uncirculated and mint state in case it will be worth anything! I was able to find other dates spotted (like 1987 or 1992 for example) also having the extra zinc pore surface, giving an uncirculated penny a different texture look!

Because you just do, yes its illegal to melt them, but its like the silver quarters and dimes- you can spend them for face value if you want but no one does because the silvers worth more.

I have a 1983 no (mint mark) penny. On the front lincolnlooks thinner and neck is different. The far part of his jacket (closer to the date) doesnt go to his neck and the farther part of his bow tie isnt there. On the back of the penny theres no lincoln sitting in the chair?? I tried taking pics but my camera on my phone doesnt zoom in very good. Have you come across these errors on a 1983 penny before?
