i like being at art school, but not being able to make many personal pieces was making me real depressed u__u so after a really bad night i ignored my homework for 4 hours to make this.... its my vampire OC ophelia

Always gotta love a good shiny nose~
My favorite element here has to be the brown-black shadow between the left side of her face and her hair. It really pushes that area into shadow to the point where you can almost feel the 3D-ness of the shapes. I’ve long since been a fan of somewhat dramatic facial lighting (even though I rarely do it myself because I can’t just yet ;_;).
Also, it never registered with me until now that Ophelia apparently has no eyebrows. Don’t know how I missed that. 😧😦
Have you ever thought of doing a speedpaint with oil paints? You use layers, but a lot of your more detailed work in done on the main layers. That’s very similar to the process of traditional oil painting (from what I can tell after watching other oil painting time lapses), and I think your process would translate well to traditional painting. I’d imagine your fundamentals would help you bridge the media gap, certainly.

Omg I love your art and it inspires me so much, I love watching your speedpaints, the way you draw and how you just experiment by adding elements in the middle of the process and then just erase them feels very spontaneous and I love it ❤,the fact that I don't know how it's going to look like at the end makes the speedpaint so entertaining to watch! also even if you have a kinda cartoony style (even so just by looking at it one can tell that you're probably very experienced with realism) you manage to make it very emotional
