And if you are interested in learning more about making homemade chicken bone broth, be sure to check out this playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLkRuW3pBo2U3birpd8uYQeQ4Q-1zH5ZkW I have videos on how to make chicken bone broth in the slow cooker, the Instant Pot, and on the Stove-Top. And for even more info about making bone broth, I have another playlist of videos showing how to make beef bone broth and fish bone broth too and I also discuss the best bones fro making beef bone broth: ruclips.net/p/PLkRuW3pBo2U0JFsTi2N7sHSpU-vBR04CH Love, Mary
Mary's Nest I’ve been thinking of making bone broth for months now, still haven’t gotten around to it, cause you know life happens... I’ve heard several people say it tastes very strong and bitter. What can I do to avoid that? I’ve heard it helps to add garlic just at the end. I think I’d avoid celery too as I don’t really care for it. Is it anything else I should be aware of?
Malina 123 - Hi Malina, All great questions!! Yes, bone broth can taste bitter and that comes from over simmering it. When it comes to beef bone broth, only simmer it for 12 hours. And for chicken bone broth, only simmer it for 6 hours. And yes, if you decide to add garlic, only add it in for the last 10 minutes. Garlic simmered for a long time can give bone broth a very off-putting flavor. I recommend leaving it out completely. And yes, you have a lot of flexibility on what veggies to add. If you do not like celery, don’t add it. I have an extensive playlist of bone broth videos that you can look through here where I show how to make all types of bone broth, best bones for bone broth, how to use a roast chicken carcass to make bone broth, etc. Here’s the link: ruclips.net/p/PLkRuW3pBo2U0JFsTi2N7sHSpU-vBR04CH Please let me know if you have any questions. I am so happy to help! And I’m so glad you’re here!! Love, Mary

I don't ever cook anything - except for eggs, bacon and toast, but after discovering Mary's channel I have found interesting, nutricious and easy to make foods. The ingredients, tools and steps are simple so I can't really mess anything up. I truly appreciate this channel and the effort and professionalism that Mary puts into it. Thanks Mary!
I've never seen the home-made boullion before! And most certainly not a home-hydrated version! I clicked on this video thinking it was going to be a really dinky lo-fi type of 'American country cooking' channel but her subscriber count alerted me immediately that my impression was certain to be flawed and incorrect: you don't get nearly a million subscribers if you're making lo-fi rather pedestrian cooking videos. What a great find! She's so charming and a wealth of information. I'm excited to make the aforementioned boullion and so pleased to have been informed already that it's freezable. Such a great channel. I agree with your comment totally.
Mary you angel you godsend you kitchen queen! I have had a stomach virus for the past 6 days and was literally looking for this yesterday. And the week before I had been worrying about how to make liver taste good! Please live forever and continue the sublime work you are doing! A thousand thanks 😊

Hey Mary, I'm really looking forward to finding out about your chicken soup. I appreciate your joining me on the Premier. I like the idea of a basic chicken recipe that works for whatever I want to add. Great idea. Ummm, yeah! We need some chicken!!!! Hmmm. Ginger in the soup. I'll bet that gives it a great flavor. I'll have to check out that video where you made the vegetable bouillion. Hmmm. I'm going to have to try and make my own boullion. I like lots of carrots in soup. I'm loving those overlay photos. I should try that. This recipe looks so easy. I will definitely give it a try. I like my veggies soft. So true about the grains in the soup. Good suggestion to add them in separately. My husband likes to add rice or other grains to his soup at the table or just before. Loved this. Thank you so much for asking me to join in on this collab with you and Tashi!

Thank you so much for this Mary. I make a few litres of bone broth every other month and keep it portioned in the freezer for when I want to cook with it. The best thing in the world is remembering that I have a supply when I'm too sick to cook-- which is cruelly when I most need the nutrients, vitamins and minerals the most! Canned processed soup bought from the supermarket is tragic, absolutely tragic. There's almost no real nutrition in there, certainly not compared to home made fresh soup which in direct comparison is off the charts. I'm making your soup for dinner tonight to hopefully combat an awful sinus infection. Thanks again for this educational and charming tutorial.
Wow! I am definitely going to give a try and thanks for great tip about the noodles🤔... Thanks for collaborating with me it was soooo much fun! Be Blessed!

The Baking Diva - Hi Dolores, thanks so much for visiting! Glad you like this soup!! Love, Mary
which gluten free grains would you recommend for this soup
YUMMY!!
Hi MARY!!! it's in the air tonight for sure. Guess what's in my Instant Pot? LOL Those grains though! YASSSS~~~~
Hey Shelly!! Thanks so much for visiting!! You are so right!! It's in the air - it's that time of year!! Love, Mary
You are the best, love you
😍
Is the soup 8 cups pure bone broth or 4 cups bone broth/4 cups water?
Well hello there Mary, I think the reason you popped up on my RUclips feed at the beginning is because of kombucha, I tried brewing kombucha with great success.. then I tried water kefir. Again, with great success... Tasted great... One problem... I have a histamine intolerance. So then I tried broth.... Again, ended up tearing myself apart with itch. I've slowly given up on these but, but but, I think just watching your videos does wonders for me... Can almost smell them smells from here.... And then there's you yourself.... Jeez.... I'm weak 😍.... The wife thinks I'm watching other types of videos ha ha 😁... Should have met you years ago, would have saved me a lot of bother lol 😁 stunning lady in every way... 😍 X

How was it?
@@marchfifth1754 really good. I left it on slow cook for 48 hours
We are a dry house so would be okay to use lemons as an acid
Mary, what kind of hotplate are you using in this video to heat your dutch oven, or what type or brand of hotplate do you recommend? The stove in my apartment, which is unfortunately a smooth-top stove (so I don't think I can use a heat diffuser), is set way too high and overcooks everything (broth, pot roasts, everything). It is impossible for me to create a low simmer. Even on the lowest setting, it boils. I watched your video on how to create chicken bone broth, and I have a 5.5 qt crockpot that I can use to make bone broth, but I'm concerned that when I then make soups from my bone broth in my Dutch oven or stock pot, the overly high heat will make the gelatin break like you described in your bone broth video and will undo the hard work that I did to create a high-quality, gut-healing bone broth. What is your advice? Thank you so much for making these wonderful videos!
Hi Roxanne, I am using a Cusinart. I think I put a link in the description - can't remember. But I will share that it runs hot so you have to watch the temperature. I wish I could find one like better but have not had any luck. Love, Mary
There you go; at it again. Making my mouth water!! Have you no shame? LOL. jk I love homemade, nutritious soups. Especially if it involves bone broth. 💛
HootOwl Holler - LOL!! So glad you liked this!! Love, Mary
I'm watching to learn how to make the bone broth itself
It’s a cold, foggy evening here in the Ukraine and I could just eat a big bowl of that!

You can watch it here: ruclips.net/p/PLkRuW3pBo2U3b4eu0QraZReKlGzA11h3y And please share the playlist with any other folks you think might be interested in learning about these types of things. I’m passionate about the book Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon (of the Weston A Price Foundation) and want to help as many people as I can learn how to make Traditional “Nutrient Dense” Foods who may not be able to afford the online programs that have a cost associated with them.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I’m so happy to help! And I’m SO glad you’re here!! Love, Mary
PS - Are you in our FB group? It’s called Mary’s Nest Modern Pioneers. Come join us! We have a lot of fun chatting about Traditional “Nutrient Dense Foods and it’s a great place to get questions answered.
