Ohhhhmagod. I'm so glad I found this video and went beyond Bernando's vid that featured you. That one was already very detailed and informative. This one is even more helpful with its comparisons to baratoplata. I'm a really visual person (but don't have a pictographic memory, unfortunately), so you doing the tarikoplata vs. baratoplata side by side and one second after another really gave me a good visual of how different they are. Hope to see more of the tarikoplata set ups and how you would handle a wide variety of "what if" scenarios.
i learnt the baratoplata two weeks ago and am already working it into my kimura/omoplata game and occasionally from the north south position and throwing the leg all the way over there legs to the other hip to pin the wrist and then sit off to the side and apply the baratoplata, i find it very effective and hard to counter (at least at my level, blue belt).
It would depend on the situation. If the opponent is resisting in a certain way, it might be easier to switch from baratoplata to tarikoplata. This could be if the opponent stops posturing on top and rather pushes in towards you while getting arm out from your crouch. But all in all , the more you try to switch and change it, more likely they'll have room to escape.
You'll have to make sure that your on your side and pull out the attacking arm from the baratoplata hold. This can be done in a transition to a kimura grip first, which a better alternative if you can't trap the arm with the leg that was previously pushing away his hips. If that makes any sense 😆 I'll write it down as a future topic for the videos 🙌
So the Tarikoplata is like the kimura but replacing the arm that holds the opponent's wrist with the crook of your knee, and the baratoplata is replacing the arm that goes over the the opponent's shoulder with the crook of your knee (and your arm normally controlling his wrists comes around to brace against your leg). Is that correct?
Baratoplata is to Tarikoplata what D'arce is to Anaconda. They're the same lockups but done in different directions.
As someone who has been using the baratoplata for a decade now, I still found something new and valuable in this video.
Thank you! 💯🙌🏼😄
How do you usually like to enter the baratoplata ? Would love to hear from someone who's been doing it for 10 years !
It's great to see small guys demonstrating on big guys. Most all other BJJ videos are big guys demonstrating on little guys.
It's easy to throw around little guys.
Thanks man! 🙌🏼😄 Though, sometimes I wish he was lighter 🤣
@@TarikBJJ first time i hear people call you small xD
Yeah the big guy loved it
Excellent n'présentation of both in synergy
Thank you! 🙌🏼😄

Baratoplata to Tarikoplata is not possible, right? Only works the other way around?

@@TarikBJJ Yes, I agree with that. However, I can't picture barato to tariko. Cant loop my arm in safely. I might lose the grip in short time.
