Eyes closed or half open while meditating?
Eyes closed in Vipassana, half closed in Zen.
In Rinzai Zen, Koan is commonly used.
In Soto Zen, Shikan Taza (Just sit) is key.
In Shin Buddhism, it is Nenbutsu which is Namu Amidabutsu.
