My dad advised me to never get a car loan and I didn't think it was a big deal cause I could "afford it" but until I watched your video I realized that a car loan would just hold me back from acquiring wealth. Thanks for this valuable info I really appreciate it🤝
Never get a car loan. Never have reliable transportation to work. Never ever have a newer vehicle which has more safety features, which cost less to insure. Never ever build credit to obtain assets. Never ever do that. It's a bad idea. It's a really bad idea. Okay now, instead of listening to your dad or a guy online, what you should do like everyone else is listen to a financial advisor instead. Advice like this is honestly mid, could it be good? Potentially; it depends. Is the used car good? Does it have problems? Did you get a deal? Does your bank do a private loan? Do you have liquid cash to fund it? It all depends on multiple variables. I had a new car. I payed 250$ a month. I paid 100$ in insurance a month. I paid it off, my credit went down. Therefore it's time to get more debt to raise my credit score again. That way I can buy a house. This stuff is honestly a bunch of crap. You'll never escape debt. It's a part of life until you die. If you think that, wait until you're old. Your hospital visits will climb and none of this will matter.
Wish I had this insight in my 20s, I fell for the "need a new car" 2x because I could "afford" the payments. In my 30s I only pay cash for used & with proper maintenance they last 300-400k miles.
Where were you in my 20's? My advice to young people is to work hard and don't be a slacker. Get an education or a trade in something that pays a decent wage as soon as you can. And most importantly stay away from the bar. There's no bigger waste of money than going out drinking every weekend. Your wallet and your body will thank you.
Of course I remember the stimulus checks - on reddit people were buying TV's, taking trips etc.. and were laughing and wanted more free printed money from the central bank. Fast forward to 2024 and guess what?! Credit card debt is at an all time high and US national debt is at $35.2 Trillion. Fantastic.
Dropping off the 2000 Honda accord that's paid for to get paint and body repair today! A $700 car note minus full coverage insurance and maintenance? I'll pass..
My work truck is a 2013 f250 that I paid cash for. Any new ford is $60k minimum for a base model. My 2013 breaks down but I’d rather pay for a $500 repair every now and then compared to a 1k truck payment for a 60k truck and paying interest. It costs me less money to break down for the day and loose a few customers than it does to pay for the newer reliable truck.
I have a 2011 civic coupe with 99800 miles on it, and all I've had to pay for is basic maintenance and front suspension. It's crazy how low maintenance these vehicles are.
Having kids made me more responsible and ambitious. Yeah, they bring stress and expense, but they also bring motivation to get better at financial planning and management.
