What's hard is when people with MDD are not "severe" enough, but are functional and appearing "ok". If you don't receive a check mark on the more severe symptoms, you're not taken seriously (mainly for insurance reasons and doctors being overworked and trying not to lose their license). A lot of the people with severe MDD probably fell through the cracks when they were functional. It's super sad actually. Any way, what helped a lot was mindfulness meditation. The book "30 Days to Reduce Depression" by Harper Daniels should be in every hospital and handed out. Mindfulness overtime was a game changer for me.

I have this. Sadly I have no real family support. Even my wife tells me to "tough it out and don't complain." I've lost interest in everything, always weak, tired and with chronic pain.

What kind of chronic pain? I used to have awful pain in my elbows, golfers and tennis elbow. It turned out to be late Lyme disease and its co-infections.

I’m 61 years old and don’t have any friends or family. Don’t have anyone to talk to. Everything is pointless. I feel empty inside and it’s killing me.
Spend the whole f* day wishing I was never born. Loneliness is like living in a world of constant pain , suffering and torture.
Wish I had someone to talk to.

Hello there, I am your same age and I have the same type of experience that you have. I’ve been diagnosed with major depressive disorder by the VA. I have no claim to Support that it was caused by the military.
If I had known in the 1980s when I served it, I could’ve gone in for treatment or at least get it on a medical visit that would’ve helped, but instead I turned to marijuana which ultimately got me kicked out of the Navy.
Anyway, here it is almost 40 years later and I have erased a son and daughter who are now married with their own kids. my wife of the last 38 years came along when I was at a severe low mentally because of the navy discharge.
There are people in my mom side of the family (one uncle, my mother, my half brother and his estranged daughter, that have unique the depression situations.)
The two best friends I’ve ever had died in 2012, one of a heart attack and the other one of an overdose on pills. I miss the heck out of them both.
I’m sorry that you’re going through this type of situation. Please feel free to comment and I thank you for sharing your life situation.

@@robdonell9915 …thank you for replying to my comment. I’m so sorry to hear about your situation with the Navy. I know that the VA is full of BS.
I’ve been through a lot of shit in this life and I’m still struggling. Divorced twice ($2,500 child support for more than 20 years). The only brother I have never calls me. My 32 year old son never answers my texts or phone calls. I gave up after decades of trying. I’m so tired of everything. Most of the time I just don’t know how to handle everyday stuff. It’s as if I was paralyzed, always procrastinating, feeling empty inside, frustrated, and have no motivation at all. Most people don’t really understand what living with anxiety and depression is like and most people don’t give a shit about others anyway. Sorry it took me so long to respond to your message, and thank you for your kind supportive words.

I was diagnosed with MDD twice by two different doctors. The only thing I don't have is weight loss/gain or overeating or undereating... I am exercising but I have to push myself some days because of lack of motivation/pleasure. I do have a lack of pleasure sometimes but not always... I have all the other symptoms though. I was wondering if I could get on disability for MDD. I have no job. My parents were very overbearing and I never had a job... for long... I have worked but not very much. I have trouble concentrating and talking to others. I am sad always.

I’ve been diagnosed with severe MDD, for me it’s been 8 years of trying to overcome it. It feels like this diagnosis is often misinterpreted as just having depression once. Or is it that? Maybe it’s different because I also have OCD

I think the two happiest groups are single women and married men. I don’t think depression is greater than women. It’s just that men display it differently.

I noticed this individual that created. The content doesn't respond very often to replies. That don't revolve around how wonderful the videos are. Or anything in general that isn't self-gratifying.....🤷
