I am a Bangalorean and I must say the way you pronounced Karnataka and Benne, you really stole my heart. Many of them pronounce Kannad whereas it should be pronounced as Kannada. Iconic Places to visit MTR, Food street VV Puram, Vidyarthi Bhavan, Cool Joint Jayanagar, Brahmins Cafe, Udupi Cafe

The reason masala peanut is called congress is because, this was the snack given at most of the Congress party meeting during pre independence era, This is the most common snack available in every snack shop in Bangalore. Very cheap and nutritious, easy to store and very long shelf life

The trivia behind congress peanuts is that prior to independence congress workers in Bangalore would write codes on peanuts and pass on to other members so that could they could meet without the British getting to know. In memory of this tradition VB bakery in VV puram named their peanuts masala to congress masala and popularized the term.

Hi! You can use both English/hindi to communicate, I'm originally from Kolkata but I've been living in bangalore since 15 years, there's not much language barrier anymore as the city is filled with people of different states, ethnicities. There might be some problems with using English with the locals but you can definitely opt for Hindi!
