Its interesting, but since its from Nov 2019, a bit outdated.
I'm sure the situation as of Dec 2020 is vastly more advanced.

Needs to be a opensource map such as auto updating OSM. Also the hardware to too expensive, needs to be 10k or less retrofitted to a few cars like sonata2020 or corolla2020.

AV must not use a map. If it does - it’s not autonomous. What will AV does if something changes(line numbers, directions)? Stuck stuck waiting for update?

Slows down, drives on sensor data and asks for handover. The teleoperator jumps in and drives the car for a minute. Problem solved.

I think you've missed the point of the real-time map updates. Also, the map is only part of the story - it works alongside of the cameras. All technologies come together to provide a better decision-making ability for the car's AV computer.

@@lvinokur the problem is: how AV will drive and make decisions if the map is old and not showing the real enviroment. i think that in this case map will disturb AV rather then help. that's why in my opinion that the AV means AUTHONOMUS. you need nothing except the AV itself to drive. no maps, no "connection" or "communications" between cars. just sensors on the AV. and only then it may be called Autonomus. i other cases it is Authomatic.

jeez lads, the maps are money makers. small size cad models. very intelligently done. i'm disappointed tesla is not monetizing there yet...

I might like Tesla but not everyone is going to go the same route but mobileye is pretty impressive if you ask me

My bet is on Tesla. No mapping, just vision. It’s going great!

@Jonathan D. Well, sir. I do not agree with you, so it remains to be seen, whom of us will be right in the end. Happy New Year!

@Jonathan D. I am totally leaning towards to Mobileye. Tesla's latest FSD driving is way behind Mobileye. Tesla has too many issues to solve. With their Lidar redundancy and maps it will bring most accurate FSD. Their latest 1 hour driving in Munich with only few days to map left me very surprised.

Tesla uses maps , are you mad. Everyone is uses maps. They cannot tell you exactly what they put in the map as there is a minefield of patents , some from Mobileye.

@@blanamaxima Agreed but Tesla uses the standard gps map in most cases, there is a video where it tries to drive through a fence following the gps route on the flawed or outdated map that had a road going through the fence.
