Germans had better equipment, but less of it. They were far ahead of the Americans, especially at the onset of the war. The allies won by sheer industrial production, we had far more planes, tanks, boats ect, and we could fuel it all properly. V2 rocket was the first man-made object to reach space in 1944. They also had night vision, the first jet fighter, flying wing, guided bombs, ballistic missiles like the V1, V2. The only thing that the Americans had over Germany technologically was the nuclear bomb.

Nazi lover
@@mittnagivag4867 why?
Yes Germany was so advanced, their tanks broke every mile from poorly engineered engines and final drives.
Their weapons so old fashioned they had to steal automatic weapons from dead enemy soldiers, their planes spotted for miles away by British radars.
Yes truly the Germans were very advanced, advanced in bringing their own demise and yet not stupid enough to see the folly in their warmongering.

The man who designed the V2 and in general the most jet engines actually wanted to work in rockets to fly to space but had to develop weapons cause there was nothing else he could’ve done.
*Doubt*
@@SMGJohn research
That's incorrect. von Braun did not have to develop weapons for the Nazi's. He could have emigrated to Britain, or the US, but he chose to stay in Germany, much like Heisenberg.
Von braun actually got into trouble for a brief moment due to “anti - war “ sentiment. He was in a dentist office when a worker there overheard him expressing his dismay that the rocket was being used as a weapon when they just wanted it used to explore space and the cosmos
Von Braun employed slave labourers from concentration camp Buchenwald and later his very own concentration camp Mittelbau-Dora. Its sole purpouse was to provide expendable slave workers to manufacture the V2. Thousands died in horrible conditions because of this and von Braun not only knew but also requested more slave workers to speed up the manufacturing process. He is not the innocent scientist you make him out to be. The myth of the scientist who was forced to partake in the Third Reich is Cold War US propaganda.

There were even other highly innovative rocket scientists working at Skoda Pribram plant for the SS, they developed the huge solid fuel V101 Skoda designed Rocket that was tested at 16.03.1945 in Rudisleben Arnstadt from Polte 2 plant, this one was flying radio guided over North Norway to come down near the North Pole region. it only missed its projected target by 6 Meters! That was quite something back in 1945, It was designed by a Dr.Büdewadt and Dr. Teichmann. V-101 was a solid fuel rocket, with THRUST 100 tons (not the amount of fuel). Range more than 1800 km, altitude 200 km. Designed by Dr. Büdewald and Dr. Teichmann at Skoda together with the SS group led by Hans Kammler. Length 30,26 m, width 2,82 m, weight 146 tons.

Deutsche. wunderbare Technik. Wie. Immer.
One of my favorite bit of rocket video is the V2 that falls over on its side and for a split second before it explodes in a huge fireball, you can see fuel spill out on the ground.
Does RADAR qualify as a weapon? I think it was second.
As a weapon it was definitely too late, too expensive and probably not all that effective. But from an engineering standpoint it was miles ahead of the competition.
0:51 "It even killed the men who spent their lives perfecting it..." -- not strictly true as Wernher Von Braun knowing which side his 'Vollkornbrot' was buttered gave himself up to the Americans, because it was 1946 I suspect it was still all very new, things changing all the time... must have been a bit of a shock some years later to see ole Von Braun pop up... lovely moon rocket Wernher hopefully it doesn't hit London this time eh old chap...
Blicero was right. Like a star, like an Angel of Death.
*Real Fact*
Americans (NASA) used the German technology for their rockets before 1940 but German had no idea abt the rockets and this technology so they came in *India and went to some of Old temples and caves and some mythological places where they found some advanced levels of drawings and sculptures & many more technological advanced things and Germans starts working on it, when Britishers know abt this they started demolishing the sculptures* so that germans won't get these things but some how germans managed to get some ideas from it and they started working on it. So this is how Rockets had born.
So Believe it or not its *Indian Technology and Science* which r in use now
its not indian it was inventet von werner von braun
Winston Churchill admitted that if V-2 hit London on May 1944 first time, not in September 1944, D-Day of June 06 1944 would never occur. V-2 was successfully tested already in October 1942, but then problems with giro guiding system arose. Probably, it was a sabotage.
Thats just wrong. London was bombed for months (blitz) and the rockets would be extra stress but not eve close to saving the war for the reich.

@Big Smoke the rockets didn't run on oil and that wasn't what the OP meant anyway. Also I never said it was easy to make this stuff, I meant that the testing not only led to more destruction but the slave labor used to gather the resources necessary were always in harms way.

Ratte definitely something unwordly with respect to modern warfare (how much fuel to run such a thing?), but V-2->all ballistic missiles, V-1->all cruise missiles, ME-262->all fighter jets, MG42->all modern LMGs... the Germans were, strictly on a technical standpoint, seriously ahead of their time, that's for sure. That's meant to be a neutral technical viewpoint, the Nazi still did horrible crimes.

Interesting facts about the V2:
1. Together with the V1, the development of this weapon cost Germany 1.5x the amount the Manhattan project cost the US
2. More people died building the V2s, mainly concentration camp labourers, than were killed by its use as a weapon
3. The British military actually were happy about the V2s, because they caused relatively little harm to the British war effort and cost Germans valuable resources that could have been better used on normal fighter planes
Well, between 1940 and 1945, the United States and Britain together lost about 21,000 aircraft and about 140,000 aircrew over Germany. In principle, it wasn't a really cheap solution either.
